I picked this up from Boots recently. I am a fan of dry shampoo's they give your hair that extra boost between washes and I was impressed by the look of this particular product by Toni & Guy so thought I would check it out.
It was expensive for a dry shampoo (£6.63) but I thought as it was Toni & Guy it might bring something new and special to the table to justify the price.
What is dry shampoo and what do you do with it?
Dry Shampoo is a product that you can use to revitalise you hair between washes. You spray the product onto dry hair (I normally focus on the roots because that is where my hair gets greasy and the lift is), rub it in and the result should be that it removes any greasiness and gives you a bit of body. It's also handy if you are going camping, to a festival or just want to spruce up your hair before or during a night out.
Packaging and Price
The packaging of this product is very slick. It comes in an attractive silver aerosol can with the
bold Toni&Guy name displayed stylishly vertically down the right hand side of the can. The logo
looks trendy, modern and stylish. This tin will look great on your bath room shelf which is one
of the reasons I picked it up. The can is quite chunky it would fit in bigger handbags but it is a bit
large to be ideal for portability if you are taking a smaller bag. Not great if you want to carry it with you on a night out to ensure your hair stays bouncy.
The can itself contains 200ml of Shampoo and claims to "refresh between washes, with a mat textured finish"
Personally I don't have a clue what "a mat textured finish" is all I want it to do is clean my hair and give it a volume boost.
Its an aerosol so to use you simply give it a shake, remove the lid and press the aerosol to release the
spray on to the roots of your hair. The instructions on how to use are on the back of the product strangely,
the instructions don't tell you you need to rub it in. If you don't you will end up with grey powdery patches on your hair which I don't imagine is really the look you are going for!
This product cost £6.63 from Boots - in my view, pretty expensive compared with Batiste dry shampoo which is only £2.99 for the same amount of shampoo.
My experience of this product
This product looks gorgeous, glam funky and cool. Having this on your bathroom shelf might make you feel like a bang on trend fashonista its just a shame the performance doesn't match the designer name or the price.
The product comes our rather fast when you press the aerosol button so I find a few sharp blasts do the trick.
I have to admit this product smells great. It doesn't have the powdery smell of some of the cheaper dry shampoos.
The smell is light, crisp and with little sweetness to it. It has a grown up sophisticated smell that will make you feel classy.
Unfortunately, I found that this product as nice as it looks and smells just didn't freshen my hair as well as I expected it to. It did not give me that extra bounce and body I can get from lesser expensive products on the market such as Batiste. I really did expect more from T&G.
Granted Batiste dry shampoo doesn't come in a fancy tin with a designer name attached but it gives you clean bouncy hair for a much cheaper price the smell isn't as sophis as T&G but it smells nice enough to me.
Overall, I don't think this product is worth the price tag it comes with and it doesn't do what I want it to do. My recommendation? Unless impressing your friends and being a style guru is really important to you go for the cheaper brands.
When dry shampoo first turned up on the market a few years ago, I was one of the first to jump on the band wagon. Anything that makes my life easier, and shortened my routine in the morning is gold!
Unfortunately the "original" bastiste one really disappointed me. It smells so strong, and left this really powdery residue in your hair. Not surprising for £1.99...I decided I ought to try a more quality product.
The can shown in the picture is no longer what the product looks like. They have recently changed their image, and so now it comes in a cream can, with quite curly, italic writing. I do feel that the bottle looks much more sophisticated and expensive now.
Not only does this smell wonderful, but there is no powdery residue left in your hair. I spray it all over my hair and let it soak in for about 10 mins (while I do my make up). I then just brush it all out. It leaves my hair looking just as clean as if it were fresh washed, just with a bit more texture.
I usually put my hair up, just because it looks better, and the texture makes it much more manageable. I have found that it's best on second day hair, but after that it doesn't give your hair that truly clean look.
This was on an offer 3 for £10 in boots, which given they retail at about £7 a pop, I thought this was a really good deal. The whole range of Toni and Guy is pretty much always on special offer in boots, so there is no reason to buy it at full price.
They initally seem quite expensive, but when on a deal the price shoots down, and the cans last me about 2 months, using it every other day.
This is a really great product from a quality brand. It is one of the more expensive products out there, however you certainly get the quality and results that you pay for!
I bought this product when it was on offer in Boots in the two Toni & Guy products for £10.
Quite a few of my friends had recommended dry shampoo to me before but suppose I always felt it would make me feel dirty and unclean.....!
I have quite fine hair and really need to wash it everyday. If I do try and leave my hair for a second day without washing my roots can become quite greasy and my hair becomes quite lifeless and limp.... I was actually recommended Bed Head Dry Shampoo but could not find this in any salons so went for Toni & Guy after seeing some good reviews (being on offer helped too). I really thought I was on to a winner :)
I must be honest for a Toni & Guy product I was slightly dissappointed. It dried out my hair which meant I could go an extra day without washing, also added a bit more volume...but I found it made my hair quite stiff, like I had used strong hold hair spray! It made my roots go very grey looking (as I have dark hair) and for a 21 female the old lady look was not the one I was going for! The product also made me look like I had bad dandruff. The worst thing about this product was the scent - It has a musky unclean smell to it and definitely did not make my hair feel refreshed, quite the opposite in fact.
I have since found another product recommended to me by a group of friends with different fragrances available. The brand also sells a 'Dark Hair' product so I think in future I may try that.
May be better for the beautiful blondes with no sense of smell - but for a brunette girl not as refreshing as I was hoping!
My third tired & tested brand of dry shampoo, but this one just doesn't cut it for me.
Last year I discovered the magic of dry shampoo. Initially it sounded like a crazy and possibly useless product, but there was only one way to test it! I became addicted and I couldn't wait for my hair to become grubby (gross I know).
Dry Shampoo - Generally:
The result of dry shampoo I find is great for my hair. I am natural peroxide :) and so it is advisable for me not wash my hair everyday, queue the dry shampoo. Spritz it onto your visibly greasy roots, as much or as little as you like, leave for a bit. Rub it in as if you were shampooing your hair, and then brush out - simple! End result is that your hair feels and looks more volumised and clean! And for those with bleached hair (like me) it is a very nifty way to subtly hide those roots in between colourings!
Toni & Guy Dry Shampoo- My Review:
I first came across Toni & Guy Dry Shampoo after using the Beach Curl Spray, the trademark smell is divine. And so I simply had to try out the dry shampoo.
It comes in a relatively large can, complete with lid and easy to use nozzle. Before I used the dry shampoo I gave the can a good shake in order to mix up all of the contents, took off the lid and spritzed over my visibly grubby roots. Concerned that I couldn't see any of the white powder on my hair, I continued to spray some more onto my roots. Still not content with the lack of white powder on my hair, I put the can down and left it the dry shampoo to work its "magic".
I gently massaged my head and then I began to brush out any excess product.
I was pretty disappointed with the results, my hair did not look fluffy and 'dry shampooed clean', nor did it stack any volume. And as for the trademark whiff of 'fresh from the salon' hair this must have been canned elsewhere!
I have since used this product just to make sure I was having a bad hair day, and unfortunately the results have remained the same!
A not so 'Refreshing' Summary:
I think Toni & Guy's "Refreshing" Dry Shampoo is a waste of £5.99. Another brand of dry shampoo I have continuously used also costs £5.99, but was well worth the investment. Toni & Guy's alternative isn't worth saving up the pennies for, in my opinion.
I had never used a dry shampoo before until i used this product. I have always been a bit worried about not washing my hair every single day as it tends to look greasy if i dont do it every night. Some nights you just really dont have the time or you are just too tired to was your hair! This product is great for those nights!
I did not think that you could really wash your hair without shampoo and water! Until i tried this, my hair felt so clean and fresh after using this product, i was very suprised! I thought it might make my hair look greasy or like i had loads of hair gel or hair spray on but it didnt. My hair looked really natural and it was really easy to style the next day, it looked exactly the same as it does when i wash it!
This was such a quick and easy way to freshen up my hair for work the next day, now i couldnt live without it! This product had a lovely smell to it aswell, which wasnt too strong. It leaves your hair still feeling soft, and you cant feel any product in your hair. It also gave my hair a bit of volume, i was expecting it to lie flat and have no life in it but it didnt.
This product comes in a nice silver bottle which looks similar to most of the toni and guy range. This shampoo is suitable for all hair types.
I wouldnt use this all the time to wash my hair, as you deffinately feel cleaner after a nice bath or shower and wash your hair properly with water, but for the days when you just dont have the time to wash it, then this product is brilliant!
I did think this was quite expensive at £5.99 for a 200ml bottle, but i think the product is worth every penny.
I havnt tried any other dry shampoo products so have nothing to compare this one to, but as i love the quality of this product i dont see any reason to try anything else. I am deffinately going to stick with this one, and i cant recommend it highly enough!
I purchased this from Boots recently as they had a 3 for 2 on all their hair care items. I haven't used dry shampoo for ages but felt that it was a true essential to have on hand! I hadn't used this particular brand before and I was hoping that the price of the product meant it would be good quality.
I have used it once so far and was happy with the experience. You spray it onto your roots, and then brush your hair. I was going out and in a hurry so I sprayed it liberally onto my hair, brushed and tied back. When I later checked on my hair, I found my hair felt as it normally did - I was worried there would be some residue from it or that my hair would feel sticky but I didn't notice any of that. Also, my hair looked a little fresher than before and it smelt quite nice as well. There was no white residue which can sometimes occur with dry shampoos (and my hair is dark so would definitely have shown up) All in all, a satisfied customer.
My only complaint was that despite only spraying a little bit of it, the spray seemed to fog my room out completely (although my bedroom is small in size). I found I needed to open the window to get rid of it. I haven't noticed this problem with any other hairsprays I have used.
All in all, it is a good product and I am happy with it, but I also didn't feel it was anything special and does what most dry shampoos do.
Ok, so I haven't actually purchased this but my sister has and as we live together I have tried it a few times and thus feel relatively qualified to comment!
I have quite fine hair which is dyed - it tends to be slightly greasy roots with ends that get dry if not well conditioned. It can also be quite flyaway sometimes. I normally wash my hair once every two days but decided that I would give this a try when I woke up late for work. So, I followed the instructions on the can and sprayed it onto my hair concentrating on the roots.
This smelt really nice - so if anything my hair would have a nice smell all day (which I sometimes thinks makes a real difference). But, it did actually also freshen my roots so that once I had given it a brush as well it looked perfectly presentable.
I am not going to try and stay that it makes your hair look as though you have just had a professional wash and blow dry but if you are short on time or just feeling a little lazy then this is the product for you.
The only problem is that I might come to rely on it too much - I must remember to actually still wash!
I had never heard of dry shampoo until i won a competition the prize was a hamper full of Toni & Guy products. In the hamper was a can of this Refreshing Dry Shampoo. I read the can and it sounded a great product to save me time washing my hair if im running late for work in the mornings.
A lightweight formula which revives all hair types when there's no time for washing. Claiming to refresh your style and boost volume for a fresh and clean look hair.
This product comes in a 200ml aerosol can, which is silver with chunky red writing of the product brand TONI&GUY.
Once you remove the lid on the can you will find a small spray nozzle, make sure you shake the can well and hold about 8 inch's away from your roots before spraying liberally. Then style as normal.
**My Experience of the Product**
I normally wash my hair every other day. I noticed my roots were looking a little greasy after work one evening and thought i would try this out as i was feeling rather lazy to wash my hair. I followed the inscructions spraying 8 inch's away from my roots then gave my hair a little brush through but it still looked greasy, but aswell as that the spray had made it also look limp and dull! Worse than it was before i sprayed the dry shampoo on! Also the texture of my hair after i sprayed it on was a hard rough feeling.
So i dont recommend this product at all as it doesnt do what it says on the can and even makes your hair look worse!
**Price and Where to Buy**
If you still want to try this product out for yourself it can be bought in Boots in store or online at Boots.com for £5.99.
