Toni & Guy Straight and Shine Smoothing Balm

I have quite long, highlighted blonde hair. Unfortunately I am not one of those lucky creatures who naturally have gorgeous smooth hair which is manageable and shiny. Instead, I have slightly wavy hair which is prone to curling at the very thought of rain! It isn't perfect curls either, instead just looks frizzy so I have to use products designed for my hair type and straighten it every day to try and keep it looking sleek and straight.

Toni & Guy are a leading hairdresser with salons all over the country but the cost of their products isn't too expensive. Having said that, they are not the cheapest either and a 200ml bottle of this smoothing balm will cost around £7. The range is available in most good chemists and some supermarkets (if you buy the product from Boots you can collect Advantage points too) and there are products designed to suit all hair types.

The smoothing balm comes in a pump action dispenser which allows you to use a little at a time. I have noticed that you need to be careful how much you use though as a little goes a long way and when I used too much, my hair looked a little greasy.

To use, apply the required amount of the product into your hands and then smooth through wet hair before drying. Rubbing the product through your hands first helps even distribution and I like to pay attention the ends of my hair, to help prevent them becoming dry.

The smoothing balm smells gorgeous, it has a really fruity fragrance which you can still smell in your hair after drying. After you have applied the product just blow dry your hair as normal, I like to try and blow dry it as straight as possible but it never works as well as when it is done at my local salon!

After blow drying, I already feel that this product has had an effect on my hair as it is smoother already. I then use GHDs to straighten it and it seems easier than doing it without having used this product. When I am finished, my hair feels soft, sleek and straight and in better condition than just normal styling.

Having said that, I do find that my hair needs to be washed more often when I use this product as it seems to feel greasy sooner. For this reason, I don't use this product every time I shampoo, as there are others which I like too, which don't have this effect.

I am awarding this product 4 Dooyoo starts because I love the fragrance and it also makes my hair look sleeker and in better condition. If you have hair that needs a helping hand then it is definitely worth trying!
