Toni & Guy Volume Plumping Mousse

      The Product

The product I am reviewing is by Toni & Guy and is a Volume Plumping Mousse. I actually decided to purchase this product because it was on offer with other products in the Toni & Guy range when I purchased it a few weeks ago. I have fine, flat hair and am always trying new product such as sprays and mousse to try and get some volume into it. I wanted to take advantage of the offer in boots so I thought I would give this product a try to see if it helped to give my hair any kind of volume. As many of you know, Toni & Guy is a well-known salon brand and their products are meant to be of salon quality. Although their products are salon quality they aren't as expensive as other salon brands and you can purchase Toni & Guy products from stores such as Boots. This mousse from Toni & Guy claims to give fine, limp hair long-lasting body without stickiness or build-up. With this mousse you can get body and bounce in your hair where you really need it . . . at the roots! The mousse comes in a white coloured can and you can clearly see that the product is by Ton i & Guy. On the front of the can it states what the product is. On the back of the can it gives you some information about Toni & Guy and about the mousse. There are also directions on how to use the product for the best results. You can also find caution information, a list of ingredients and warning information. The lid to the can is made from plastic and is white in colour. This pulls off to reveal a thin nozzle in which the mousse dispenses out of.

I purchased this from my local Boots store when it was on offer along with the other Toni & Guy products. The mousse comes in 222ml can only and is priced at £6.39 at full price.

      Using the Product

I washed my hair with my normal shampoo & conditioner and then wrapped it up in a towel for at least 5 mins to soak up some of the water. On the back of the can it states to work the mousse through the lengths and ends of the hair and comb through. I shook the can well and pressed the button to release some of the mousse into my hand. I didn't want to use too much of the product in fear that it may make my hair sticky or hard. My hair is just past shoulder length, so I dispensed some of the mousse which was slightly bigger than a golf ball. One thing I noticed immediately about the mousse is that it seems to get bigger once dispensed so you only need to press on the button quickly to release a small amount which soon gets bigger. I worked the mousse through the hair concentrating on the roots first and then the ends. The mousse had a nice light smell to it which smelt fresh. After working the mousse through my hair I used a hair dryer to dry my hair until it was at least 80% dry. I did this with my head upside down to help give my hair some extra volume. I then finished drying my hair using the Babyliss Big Hair Styler which helps to give your hair extra volume. After drying my hair I looked at the results in the mirror and was impressed with what I saw. My hair had a decent amount of volume to it and it looked really shiny. Not only did my hair look great but it felt great too, it was really soft which I have to admit did surprise me. Although I had applied mousse to my hair you would never think I had as my hair didn't look as though it had any product in it as it was shiny, smooth and soft. I left the house to go to work and I was surprised at how bouncy my hair felt as I walked to get the bus.

I was on the bus for a good 15mins and then walked the rest of the way to work which took another 15mins at least. I got to worked and checked my hair and it still looked great and still had a good amount of volume to it which I was impressed by as normally my hair would start falling flat by now. I carried on work as normal and when I popped to the toilet later in the afternoon I checked my hair again. My hair still had volume at the roots and it still looked bouncy and shiny. The smell of the mousse couldn't really be smelt anymore which was a shame as the light scent of the mousse when first applying it was really nice. The volume in my hair lasted most of the day and I only really needed to apply some hairspray to it later on the evening to give the roots a little extra volume. I brushed my hair before going to bed and was also impressed that my hair wasn't knotty. The following morning when waking up I was expecting to have to wash my hair as other products I have used in my hair to give it volume have left a residue or left it feeling greasy the following morning. I got up and brushed my hair and was again impressed that my hair wasn't greasy and I couldn't feel or see any kind of residue in it from the mousse. I applied some hairspray to the roots of my hair and also applied some to my hair with my head upside down. My hair had bounce and volume to it again which I was surprised by but also pleased. My hair still felt really soft and it also still looked shiny.

      Overall Opinion

I did have high hopes of this product as it's by Toni & Guy and I know a lot of their products are good. This is the 2nd time I have used a product from the Toni & Guy range and I was hoping I was going to be as impressed with this product as I was the previous one I had tried. The packaging of the product does look like a salon brand; how-ever I personally don't think this product has a salon price tag. The mousse be may slightly more expensive than other brands that are available to buy, how-ever it's not as expensive as a previous mousse I purchase which was by Tigi and set me back well over £8.00. In terms of applying the product I found it really easy to apply using my fingers to work it through the hair and them combing it to ensure it was in the lengths and ends of the hair. I love the way the mousse made my hair feel bouncy and it also made it look soft and shiny. My hair didn't feel weighed down and there was no residue in my hair. I was impressed that the mousse actually gave my hair some volume which lasted nearly all day. I found that you only need a small amount of the mousse because it does get bigger once it has been dispensed. I was impressed that the following day my hair didn't need washing and that I just needed to apply some hair-spray in order to get some volume back into it. This mousse is one of the best products I have tried to get some volume into my fine, flat hair. I will definitely keep buying this product as I have been really impressed with the results and the quality of the product. I would definitely recommend this product to others who want to add some volume to their hair.
