“ Brand: Toni & Guy / Type: Hair Shampoo / Hair type: fine hair / What it does: volumizeses, „
I love Tony and Guy products, mainly because they smell great and they leave your hair really clean and fresh, however although this shampoo does provide these features, I didnt really notice any more volume in my hair than when I use my cheaper shampoo from Tescos.
You can get a bottle of this shampoo for around £6 in most Boots stores, chemists and some other places that sell shampoo, you can also buy little mini versions for £1.50. It is a very expensive shampoo, so you do expect it to live up to its claims, even though it still does leave your hair in a lovely condition.
This shampoo is applied in the same way that most other shampoos are, lather, rinse and repeat if necessary, it is no easier or harder to rinse this shampoo from your hair than others.
This shampoo smells lovely and fresh, and after use the smell lingers in your hair for a while, but obviously not a long time.
After blow drying my hair as usual I noticed no more volume in my hair than usually when using other shampoos, the shampoo does leave nice results and makes your hair lovely and soft and fresh, however it does not live up to the promises made and so expected, especially because it is such an expensive shampoo.
I suggest that if you want volume in your hair, this shampoo will probably disappoint. You would probably be better off if you just stick to your lower costing shampoo as this one wont give you the volume you crave, however it will leave your hair lovely smelling and fresh.
I bought this shampoo as there was a 2 for £6 offer across the Toni & Guy range and it seemed worth a try, so I bought this and the matching conditioner. The usual price in Boots is £4.88 for a 250ml bottle, which is not a bad price if it works.
Renowned worldwide for their fashion-led salons and expertise, Toni & Guy and the hair care specialists at Boots have developed a range of high-performance, salon-quality styling products to help you recreate the latest catwalk looks in your own home. They say that this energising shampoo will give volume to even the finest, most flyaway hair for styles with texture and bounce.
The shampoo comes in a nice silver-grey cylindrical bottle, which does look like a quality product. The bottle has a press top dispenser, which dispenses just a small amount at a time, making it easier to control the amount you use. However, I personally feel that the amount dispensed in a single press of the top is far too little to be of any use to anyone, I have to press it 3 or more times to get enough shampoo out to wash my hair. This in my mind makes the dispenser kind of redundant, I mean why bother having a dispenser to make it easier to use if it doesn't give you a sensibly-sized controlled amount with each press? Anyway, I digress....
The shampoo itself is clear and smooth, with a nice thin gel like consistency. The smell however, is totally vile. It smells to me like a mixture of chlorine and stale perfume, however, the scent fortunately is not too strong so shouldn't be too off-putting.
The lather created by this shampoo is very thin and with no visible bubbles, not luxurious at all, and it does leave a little to be desired when it comes to massaging it through the hair, it just doesn't feel as though it's doing much. It washes out easily however, and my hair does feel clean when it's all rinsed out.
Once my hair is dried after using this I always feel very disappointed. It makes my hair look quite dull and takes the shine out of it, which is not what I need at all. It looks and feels soft and smooth, but there is no extra volume to speak of, and I would actually say it seems to make my hair look flatter than usual, which really contradicts the volumising claims. And the worst thing of all is that it makes my hair feel really wispy and gives it a lot more of a flyaway feel to it with major extra static, again contradicting what it's supposed to do.
So, overall, I'm very disappointed with this shampoo. It cleans my hair but it doesn't do what it claims, in fact on my hair it does exactly the opposite of what it claims to do, making it look flat and lifeless, and feel static and flyaway. Needless to say I won't be buying this one again.
Provides volume to even fine hair!
