Advantages: The staff seem to know what theyre on about

Disadvantages: ...they actually dont

I had highlighted blonde hair that i had been colouring in a salon for a good few years...i decided that i wanted to go for a v scandinavian looking ash blonde scalp bleach so that it was v dramatic and light...like blondies greyish white hair. I knew that this was going to be rather traumatic for my hair, so i booked into the Chester branch of Toni and guy..it was going to cost me s fortune (about £150 inc.cut) but i thought it was so drastic i had to do it right..

I had my consultation with my colourist and she tried to put me off, saying id have to look after my hair a lot better etc and actually seemed quite bullyish with her approach to me, i felt like a naughty school girl! i eventually persuaded her that i did want it, and showed her numerous pictures of what i wanted ( all of them stated that they were done at a toni and guy salon) she seemed rather horrified at how light i wanted it but went ahead.

It hurt like hell...first of all the skin test theyd put on my arm which was like a transfer wouldnt come off with their usual method of putting sticky tape on my arm and pulling it off (!!) so she kept doing it, merrily ripping off arm hairs and leaving me in pain with a very red, irritated arm.

Then came the bleach...it stang like hell and my head felt like it was on fire. she had not warned me off this but then when i told her, she said it was normal. A junior then took me over to the sinks to wash it off...obviously, any normal person with common sense that worked at a salon would perhaps think that bleach creates the scalp to be v sensitive and hot feeling...but no, she obviously didnt have a clue and so started washing my hair with what felt like boiling water. when i said something about this, the colourist walked over and told the junior off for this and told her to wash me with cold water. v proffesional.

Then, the colourist put a toner onto my hair which she had said would create the grey white blonde that i wanted ( u know, the one in the majority of the toni and guy adverts)...and after it was washed out i discovered that my hair was yellow. yes, bright yellow. the colourist said that she hadnt wanted to leave it to develop any longer as it would stress my hair more...she was pleased with the results. I then had a cut..i wanted a few layers put in to create a slightly choppy look...i ended up looking like half my hair had snapped off cos of the bleach ( at least thats what the hairdresser at the next salon i went to thought)

All in all, it was horrendous..and then i was charged £150 for the privalidge. they were highly unprofessional, not particularly friendly- i dont go to the hairdresser to be told off and bullied, and left my hair looking hideous.

Since then, i decided to go dark as the scalp bleach left me with such horrible yellow hair...so if ur considering it..seriously, dont.

Summary: Scalp bleaches are a HUGE mistake!

hi there. im very sorry about your experience. the worse part has to be when the junior washed your hair with hot water right after your scalp was exposed to chemicals. I KNOW how that feels. however i must say that, as far as I understood, you were advised against having your hair bleeched that light and this is usually because the desired coloured is not achievable. Perhaps your hair is too dark and normally if you want your hair to look platinum blonde your natural shade should be quite light already.

well first off, u should have spoken to a manager or the owner and asked what they were going to do about the problem, because it sounds like over all u didnt get what u were looking for. Second of all, I dont know how they run things over there but here in the america toni & guy is known for being the best and we stand by it a hundred percent. I have worked for the company for some time so I should know. I know personally that every day I bust my ass to please each and every person that walks through my doors. honestly, it's very imature of u do dishonor the entire international company with thousands of locations and millions of talented people because u had a run in with one person at one location. realy dude. grow up a little.

I'd be writing a letter of complaint covering everything you put in your review. I wouldn't let them get away with it. S
