Advantages: Friendly Staff, They know their stuff, Free coffee!
Disadvantages: The cost, The dent to your manly-man rating if your mates find out
Yes I have my hair cut at Toni and Guy (who was that sniggering at the back? See me afterwards) and yes, I do mind paying such high prices for having my relatively short hair trimmed. But that's not what it's all about, is it. You see, going to T&G is more an afternoon out than popping to the local barbers - something to do to feel better and relax. My (ex)girlfriend first talked me into going there - I balked at £25 for a trim, but to keep her happy I relented and went along. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. After a cup of coffee I had a brief consultation with my stylist, my hair was washed (although not by the stylist, which caused me some concern as I never saw the face of the girl I chatted to for ten minutes - it could have been anybody!) and then it was messed about with. I gave the hairdresser complete artistic control (one reason for me going was to get a new hairstyle), and I think that they did an excellent job of picking something that not only suited my face, but my style of dress too. The staff were friendly and in hindsight I'm glad I went. It's also worth using the same stylist each time so they can get to know how you like your hair etc., although if you do this be sure to book well in advance as they can get quite busy at times. Basically, if you can afford to go every time you need a cut, do it. If like me you can't, go every so often and get your normal barber to copy what they did the rest of the time!

- 04/09/01 I've been once, they did a wonderful job and I wouldn't hesitate to go back, just as soon as I can afford it! Good op! |
