Advantages: close to work

Disadvantages: burned my hair, by far the worst service I've ever received

I want to share the awful experience I had with Toni & Guy near Canada Square (Canary Wharf) in London and warn others against going to that terrible place!!!
I only went there because it was almost next door to my work. I asked for a standard hair colour and cut, and guess what - the stylist (some teenager) did such a crappy job that my hair turned out in two distinctlively different colors, one near the roots and a different one at the ends!! It was a really trashy look - like some cheap 80's junkie prostitute or something. I'm almost 30 and a corporate type, came in from work wearing a suit and everything, but the stylist proceeded to try and convince me that this is what I actually wanted it and it looked really good on me. I demanded that they do something about it, and they applied some terrible chemical which was supposed to lift the color but instead only burned my hair. Then they did it again, as it did not work the first time. It was around 9 p.m. at that stage, and the stylist just left without even an apology!!! leaving me in the hands of another teenager who looked around 14 years old.
After another hour I was desperate to get out, and asked them to just leave it and blow dry my hair. To which they said "there is nobody around any more to blow dry your hair, it's too late". So, after 3 hours I am standing there with 2-coloured WET hair and asked to pay 120 pounds for COLOR and BLOWDRY. I said I am not going to pay for the blowdry because obviously the service was not provided. At which stage appears the most awful bitch from hell I've ever seen, some Nordic woman who runs the place, and CALLS THE POLICE!!! No, this is not a mistake, they left my hair burned and wet, AND CALLED THE POLICE ON ME WHEN I ASKED FOR A DISCOUNT!!! At that stage I was getting really upset and scared of the whole police thing, so I had to just pay up and leave. I was going to write a formal complaint to the headquarters, but guess what, the co
mpany is so secretive that they do not even have a corporate website with address or contact details for the customer service. I guess otherwise they would be getting to many complaints. Well, what goes around comes around, I hope those people get treated like they treated me that day.

I had a terrible experience at the Romford Toni and Guy last Saturday. I went in to get my hair blow dried and althoguh I hadn't visited the salon before, considering it was Toni and Guy I expected to recieve first class treatment.

I spent 3 hours in total in the salon and came out in tears. Even the manager, who apparently trains students at the academy in London, couldn't manage to blow dry my hair as I wished.

When I compained I was contacted my the customer services manager for the essex area and was informed that the Romford salon is a franchise and that the salon manager did not want to give me a refund. Apparently there is nobody else that I can complain to, as this salon is not offically a Toni and Guy salon, but is effectively just using the Toni and Guy name to entice customers.

I think this is absolutely shocking and if Toni and Guy don't want to end up getting a really bad name I suggest they keep a closer eye on the capabilities of the staff working in their franchise salons.

I certainly won't be going back to any Toni and Guy salon, as I don't really know what to expect anymore.

I work for Toni & Guy in the United States. And I have to say that the way you were treated was completely unacceptable. I can understand why they wanted you to pay because it's a company policy. In my salon what we would have done was had you pay for the services you given and then set you up with a redo appointment with a higher level technician. I would like to apologize on the behalf of the company for the way that you were treated because it is highly unproffesional. If you find the technician/stylist that fits your personal needs toni & guy is a wonderful company to have do your hair. But being pressured into something that you don't like is not getting the job done. If you would like I can go through my coroprate office and get the email/phone number for your location. Hope that you have better luck somewhere else.

There is one near my work place as well. To think I almost considered going to them once. I must've been out of my mind.
