My hair is frizzy and can be both dry and damaged because I used heated styling appliances a little bit excessively to try and get my hair under control. Although the finished result is straight and sleek hair, it also looks a little flat which I dislike almost as much as the frizz. In a bid to get a bit of life and body back in my hair I bought the Tresemme 24 Body shampoo and conditioner. This is a review of the conditioner.
What does the product do?
The product has been designed first and foremost to condition the hair leaving it soft and healthy. It promises to add shine to the hair and leave it more manageable. It apparently has a volume control complex which gives the body volume and body, and nourishes it with Silk Proteins but without weighing the hair down.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a white plastic bottle which doesn't have much decoration other than a hot pink stripe down the middle. There is some writing on the back to tell you some more about the product and it has a hot pink lid. In order to access the product you push down on one side of the lid and the other flips up. You then squeeze the bottle to release the conditioner. The conditioner will cost you about £4 for 500ml of the conditioner. A smaller bottle is also available.
Application and Performance
The conditioner has a pleasant aroma which is commonly found in the Tresemme products and it is exactly the same as the aroma of the shampoo. It is hard to say exactly what it smells like but it just has a lovely fresh and clean smell that is lovely but wouldn't be strong enough to be to anybody's disliking. The conditioner is pure white in colour and has quite a thick consistency. It works it's way well into the hair although I do feel like I need to apply quite a lot before I feel like it's doing a good job. It feels quite hydrating when it is on the hair and it doesn't cause me any discomfort or irritations. The product is easily rinsed out of the hair.
You can tell that the product has done quite a good job of moisturising the hair and the conditioner leaves my hair tangle free and easy to brush. Once my hair is dry, you can still smell the product on my hair and it smells lovely and fresh. It does seems soft and manageable as promised. My hair definitely seems to have a bit more volume, especially at the roots and it has more body and movement. If I do let my hair dry naturally, it gets a little bit out of control with this product so there's definitely something in this that works. My hair doesn't have much shine to it and it still smells lovely and fresh. My hair seems in a marginally better condition than before I used it but no more than with the average conditioner.
All in all, the conditioner hydrates the hair, leaving it softer and smelling fresh. It leaves the hair easy to brush through and it does give a bit of volume to the roots so your hair has a more body. It won't make a massive difference to your hair but it will make your hair a little less flat. I would recommend this one to those who want a bit more volume in their locks.
I tend to purchase a lot of Tresemme products due to the fact that they can always be found on offer or that they can be bought in bulk in most cases. Recently,I had tried out smaller bottles of both the 24 Hour Body Shampoo and Conditioner, so decided to buy the 900ml bottle as both myself and my mum had great experiences in using it on our hair.
I buy most of this shampoo at Asda as they tend to have a lot of deals on and bought it in conjuction with a 2 for £5 deal. However, you can also buy it from shops such as Superdrug or Boots for around £5 individually. I think that the deal price for this shampoo is really good, and you can find deals on them pretty regularly. Considering they seem to last for ages, they are definitely worth the money you spend on them.
The packaging is very similar to it's shampoo partner, in that it is a large bottle, but instead of being black it is white with a pink lid. The pink lid flips up similar to the shampoo, and you just press a button to open up the part that dispenses the conditioner. I found that this packaging was much better than the shampoos, as I could actually see when my conditioner was running out so I knew when to buy some more and stock up.
The bottle can be quite annoying due its large size in that trying to get conditioner out of it when you have wet hands is a pretty difficult task, and it can lead to it slipping out of your hands and onto your foot. However, this does stop the leakage and waste of a lot of the product, so I suppose this is also a good thing about them.
The conditioner is pretty thick as expected and doesn't feel all that nice when you use it as I thought it was quite greasy feeling. You just use it as you would an average conditioner by applying midlength and then combing through and waiting three minutes. After washing it out, I was pleased to feel that my hair didn't stay greasy feeling and that it did feel much softer.
I think that using this conditioner in conjuction with the shampoo definitely was a good idea, as it added extra volume to my hair making it last much longer than it usually would have. While it didn't look shinier or anything like that, this is probably best left up to the other Glossy Tresemme products I've seen around. It definitely does what it says on the bottle, as for 24 hours myself and my mum's hair was in great condition and looked great.
I would definitely recommend this product to those who are looking for a high quality conditioner, as it is one of my favourites. However, I think for the best look and styling chance, it is best to use it with the shampoo to give that little extra boost of volume to hair. I am very impressed with Tresemme and love this affordable conditioner as it keeps my hair in tip top looks.
This is a review on a huge bottle (900ml) of conditioner I have had in my bathroom for what seems like ages! I am just reaching the end of the bottle now so thought I'd review it after a few months of use.
The product is by TRESemme which is advertised as the Professionals' choice, like a salon brand, but you can buy it in regular shops and chemists at reasonable prices. There are many types you can buy, for hair colour, hair type etc and this one promises 24 hour body ~ weightless body and shine with silk protein and collagen.
It's a lot to ask of a conditioner, for gorgeous hair for the next 24 hours. A lot of this depends what you do with your wet hair after washing. For me, leaving it in a towel turban for a few hours then dropping to sleep is my usual trick so I only tend to primp it with hair dryers and straighteners if I am going anywhere decent. I blame this on having a young baby but really it's because I'd rather read my latest book!
As a conditioner, I am pleased with the performance of this particular bottle of conditioner. It doesn't weigh my hair down yet it helps me to get a brush through it when dry and does combat some of the knotting you can get with long hair. It washes out well and is inoffensive in fragrance.
This is a big bottle of conditioner which at the time seemed a good idea as it would last ages. It was also on promotion and I do get through lots of shampoo and conditioner having long hair so buying in bulk is my usual trick. However, the bottle is a little bit too big, especially with wet slippery hands and would be far better in my opinion with a pump top lid for dispensing so you don't have to lift the bottle off the side. You have to press the lid in to get a gap then squeeze out the product. This is fine unless you don't use it for a while and some of the product glues in the gap then an extra good squeeze is required to remove the globby bit.
I bought three bottles for £10 (mix and match two shampoos and one conditioner) from the range. I thought this was a really good buy for the volume of products you are getting. They were from Asda at the time but it was a while ago.
Towards the end of the bottle, I was struggling to get the product to squeeze out easily so I decanted 1/3 of the bottle into an old soap and glory pot with a screw lid so I can scoop out the conditioner instead. Annoyingly the lid does not unscrew from the big bottle (it just twists round and round) so you can't easily get into it. As I said earlier, a pump top lid would work far better with a bottle this size.
I liked this conditioner and would buy it again. As I said earlier, I found the container a bit difficult to handle, especially with slippery hands. I think it performs well as a conditioner and for the price paid would recommend it to others.
I bought this conditioner in a travel size along with the matching shampoo for the simple reason that I've been spending a lot of time travelling to see my boyfriend and wanted to travel as light as possible and there wasn't a lot of choice in travel sized haircare in my local Boots. I have fine hair so 24 hour body is not something I'd frown at. This costs £1.32 for the 100ml travel sized bottle, or £4.09 for the full sized 500ml bottle.
It comes in a white bottle so it's easy to tell it apart from the matching shampoo which is in black. The bottle isn't see through so you can't see how much you have left which can be annoying especially with a small bottle like this that can run out quite quickly. My mini bottle has a screw off lid which is not really convenient and as it's very small it can easily get lost if you drop it, but the full sized bottle has a convenient flip top lid.
I found even the first time I used this it took ages to get any conditioner out of the bottle. It's not of a particularly thick consistency but has quite a sticky texture which sticks to the bottle rather than pouring out so you have to shake it quite hard to get it out which is not great.
It feels nice and smooth when I apply it and doesn't feel too thick or heavy like a lot of conditioners can. It rinses out pretty easily and my hair is left feeling a lot smoother. The scent is the same as the shampoo, quite a fresh fruity smell but quite chemical and not natural. This does have a bit more of a chemical scent than the shampoo, but it's still pleasant enough.
My hair is really tangle free and easy to comb through after using this, and once it's dried it does feel soft and smooth. I don't think it gives my hair any extra body but it doesn't weigh it down or take away the effects of the shampoo so it still looks quite full and thick. The disappointment with this conditioner for me is that it left my hair looking quite dull when it's actually naturally very shiny.
Overall it's a half decent conditioner at a reasonable price which I will happily use on my travels, but I definitely wouldn't use it as my regular conditioner.
I'm a big fan of TRESemme products in particular their conditioners and have tried over 80% of their products. One of the main issues that I have with the conditioners are that after drying hair and then styling I often find my style does not last. In particular if I curl my (straight) hair with GHD's the style often drops after a few hours, unless I cake my hair in (TRESemme) freeze hold hairspray so I have hair that resembles concrete. Not the greatest of looks!!
So I was particulary excited when I visited Boots recently to see a new addition to the TRESemme range..... 24 hour Body conditioner. Surely this would offer me the silky shiny hair that other TRESemme conditioners create, but actually allow my style to hold for longer and retain volume.
The packaging of the 24 Hour Volume range is slightly different to the other products in the TRESemme range, the colours on the bottles are more vibrant and eye catching. The 24 Hour Body conditioner comes in a 900ml bottle. There is also a 400ml bottle available. The bottle is an opaque plastic bottle. Inside the white conditioner is visible. The bottle has a bright pink lid with a flip top. Like the other conditioners from TRESemme the bottles are extremely bulky. The conditioner comes out of these large bottles easy enough when the bottle is full. When the bottle is less than half full of conditioner squeezing the bulky bottle with wet hands is difficult. As it would be if you had arthritis or other similar problems.
The branding on the 24 Hour Body conditioner is similar to the other TRESemme products however the new range has a splash of bright pink on the bottle almost a spray paint effect, giving a more modern look to the bottles.
The RRP for a 900ml bottle of this is £3.99 which I feel is very good value due to the size of the bottle, and is the same price as other products in the range from TRESemme.
Mostly the supermarkets have TRESemme products on special. Asda and Tesco either offer a Buy one get one free offer or 2 products for £6. I bought the TRESemme 24 Hour Body conditioner in Boots along with 24 Hour Root Boost. On all of the 24 Hour Volume range there was a 2 for £6 offer on.
For "professional" products these are certainly good value especially for the quantity of products in the bottles.
The conditioner is a white quite thick liquid, which feels quite greasy when first poured into your hand. The conditioner feels thicker than other conditioners in the range and slightly like jelly.
Directions for use are "apply to mid shaft to ends then brush through hair with a wide tooth comb. Leave for 3 minutes then rise"
When applied to the hair the conditioner is slippery and applies to the hair easily but does seem to take more effort to work through hair because of its thicker consistency. The scent of the conditioner is less apparent than other TRESemme products, but still reminds me of freshly washed cotton. After 3 minutes hair feels quite soft as extremely greasy, before the conditioner is rinsed.
Because the conditioner is so greasy it does take some time to rinse the conditioner out of hair. Once rinsed fully, wet hair feels soft and silky but not longer greasy. The scent of the conditioner is very light when rinsed.
When drying my hair I felt my hair dried slightly quicker than usual. After blowdrying my hair my hair did look like it had more volume to it which lasted all day rather than looking flat after a few hours which occurs when I use other TRESemme products. My hair did look shiny and glossy after drying but not as glossy as it does after using some other TRESemme conditioners such as Salon Silk or Colour Revitalize.
What I found completely different to other TRESemme conditioners is that after using 24 Hour Volume my hair felt coarser. Individual hairs seemed to be thicker which created the extra volume. As a result my hair did not feel so soft and felt quite dry although it did look soft and silky.
I would not expect a massive difference the volume of hair. Unlike in the advert hair will not appear to have more volume to others but you will notice a difference yourself. In terms of styling I noticed a massive difference. After curling my hair using GHD's, the curls last all day with very little hairspray on them. Using other TRESemme products within 3 or 4 hours this style would have dropped considerably and I would have wavy hair.
I also used this when I was in Cyprus recently. Last year in Cyprus my hair fell flat and style dropped out after about an hour in the humid night temperatures and looked massively frizzy after using a Pantene conditioner. This year using 24 Hour Body conditioner my hair did look slightly frizzy by the style lasted until the end of the night.
Once dried I felt my hair does look a lot more shiny and glossy and feels very soft. I was extremely pleased that the colour of my hair looked a lot brighter mainly because my hair was more shiny. After a few washes I noticed my hair looked very shiny, and my hair colour looked a lot brighter and similar to when it was initially dyed by the hairdresser.
There are a few disadvantages with the product. Like with a number of Tresemme products the conditioner makes hair soft and difficult to create lasting styles after washing. I also found my hair got a lot greasier in a shorter space of time than it did when I used other conditioners. There was a sheen to my hair immediately after drying my hair but after around 8 hours my hair felt quite lank.
I am very impressed with the 24 Hour Body conditioner. I would probably use this conditioner when I am going out and styling my hair in order to retain the style all day. For a normal work day I wear my hair straight I will be sticking with the TRESemme Salon Silk, as I feel although 24 Hour Body offers shine, it is just not as intense a shine as the other TRESemme products available.

24 Hour Body is a new range from Tresemme to replace the "healthy volume" range.
The conditioner comes in a 900ml white matte plastic bottle. It has a clear label with black and silver text and magenta detail. It also has a magenta lid, though I've noticed on the official website the lid is white. The bottle is large because it is 900ml but this isn't a downside, it is substantial when you lift it up but doesn't become slippery when wet and covered in soap.
The conditioner is a thick matte white which stays in formation when squeezed out. It has a slightly floral sweet scent which I find appealing. It feels premium, not watered down or light like some own range conditioners, but not as dense as the tresemme moisture conditioner.
Instructions say to apply and "adequate amount from mid-shaft to ends" then to "(work) any remaining conditioner into the roots". I.e apply to ends first then rub into scalp. I do this then comb through before rinsing and I have found my hair doesn't snag or catch when I do this. While it is a substantial conditioner, rinsing is surprisingly quick and easy. My hair feels soft after rinsing and tangle free.
I use the shampoo and conditioner together and after blow drying my hair feels soft and smooth and shiny, and there is substantial volume which does indeed last 24 hours and probably more, since I wash my hair once a day and it is still full and thick when I go to wash it again. The volume isn't sky hight but it is a good base for volumising styling products, but even alone hair feels thicker.
Depending on where you get it, the conditioner is around £4 per 900 ml bottle, which is 45p per 100 ml. In my opinion, very good value.
Despite being a volumising conditioner, softness and shine aren't neglected with this product. Definitely one I'd recommend to all. I dye my hair so it needs nourishing (though can something which is not alive be nourished?!) and usually this means I can't use volumising conditioner but this is perfect.
