Advantages: Soft silky hair, prolongs colour for dyed brunettes
Disadvantages: Simply average, especially on natural brunette hair
buy and try a lot of shampoos and conditioners and recently bought the brunette colour thrive product by TRESemme. Over the years I have experimented with a lot of different styles and colours however I'm a natural brunette and two years ago I went back to my natural colour. Since then I have had my hair dyed various shades of brunette but nothing permanent.
I have used a number of TRESemme products and I really like them, they are good value for money and are of a good quality. I was pleased to see the Brunette Colour Thrive Conditioner brought out as I am a big fan of the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette range as I thought that the TRESemme product would be very similar.... Sadly it's not as good.
Packaging
The packaging is different to the other TRESemme products its beige with a golden brown flash through it. Although its nothing flash it is more decorative than the other conditioners in the TRESemme range. The packaging as with the other TRESemme products is quite bulky and the 500ml bottle isn't great for travelling with!
Price
For a 500ml bottle the cost is around £4.00 which is excellent value as this lasts for a long time.
Product
After shampooing the product should be applied to damp hairs and massaged into the end of the hair. (Don't apply to the root or it will make your hair greasy)
One of the issues that I did have was that the conditioner is quite thick which causes problems trying to get the conditioner out of the bottle. Even when the bottle is full you have to really squeeze quite hard for the conditioner to come out. With wet hands and such a large bulky bottle it does become quite tricky to get the right amount of conditioner.
The conditioner does smell really nice and has a coconut fragrance. It's strong but not over powering.
Once hair is dry it feels soft and silky but I find my hair doesn't have a high gloss shine. The feel of the hair is very nice as although when applied the conditioner is thick , once the hair is dried hair feels light and does not have a sticky or greasy feel which some conditioners can make happen.
When I used this after having my hair dyed dark brown my hair did look shinier and the product seemed to prolong the colour and it didn't fade so quickly but it didn't have the same effect that similar products had on hair. The John Frieda brilliant brunette range is far better and emphasises natural high lights and gives a high shine look to hair.
Overall the product isn't a poor product. All of the TRESemme conditioners are good value, leave hair feeling soft silky and quite shiny however this isn't the best of products in terms of improving the vibrancy of brunette hair which is how it is marketed to consumers. If you are looking for a conditioner that is great for natural brunette hair and great shine then it certainly doesn't do that. It does work slightly better on dyed brunette hair but overall - AVERAGE.
Summary: A good conditioner for dyed brunette hair as colour is prolonged. However for natural brunettes tha
