Advantages: Leaves hair nice and soft
Disadvantages: The tub is awkward
I bought this product because I have had to start colouring my hair; yes I have finally admitted that those grey streaks I seem to have acquired are not a trick of the light but are actually real and need to be banished! The problem with me colouring my hair is it does seem to get very dry so I like to use a good conditioning treatment, as I already use this brands shampoo I decided to give this product a go.
COMPANY
A group of top stylists and hair care specialists of the time set the company up over 40 years ago. Tresemme was sold exclusively in salons, but they then decided to sell more commercially to everyone, which has made the brand more widely known and popular. Please don't be put off from buying this range by that bloody annoying advert, you know the one with that bloke who won't let people use this range as he feels its just for professionals!
PRODUCT STATEMENT
Professional performance formula enriched with vitamins restructures hair, protecting it from split ends and breakage. Ideal for those who regularly use heat styling tools, hair is left silky soft, shiny and tangle free.
PACKAGING
This comes in a 500ml white tub with a black screw on lid that has a big sticker on the lid stating that this product was "Voted the no1 can't live without hair product" 2006 by the Hair magazine awards. Tresemme seem to have different colours on their products for different ranges and this one is purple on the packaging. It also states that it contains vitamin E & Pro vitamin B5 and is restructuring, deep conditioning for extra dry brittle hair.
USING
Washing my hair is like a military operation in my house, as soon as I get my head under the shower one or both of my little monsters either want something or have decided to start world war 3! Or the phone will ring and of course no one else can answer it! (Sorry rant over!)
The product itself is white in colour and feels more like a cream than a lotion; the smell is pleasant and smells a small bit fruity but also smells like a normal cream. The directions state to use after shampooing, towel dry your hair and then apply evenly paying attention to the ends, then leave on for 5 minutes and then rinse off.
In theory it sounds easy and it is if you are not as clumsy as me, all was going well the first time I used it until I dried my hair and with wet hands tried to unscrew the tub lid this then slipped out of my hands, fell in the bath and half the contents went down the plughole!!!
So the second time I was wiser and remembered to dry my hands first! I then took a generous scoop out and covered my hair paying particular attention to the ends and then waited for 5 minutes…. Isn't it funny how clock watching makes time drag!
So 5 minutes were up and I rinsed my hair, this was easy enough although I did feel it needed more rinsing than my normal conditioner. After rinsing my hair felt quite soft even though it was still wet and brushing was nice and easy there were no knots or tangles. My hair is shoulder length and as much as I would love it to be straight it is very kinky but only on one side! So I do have to use straighteners, after using this product it did seem to make using the straighteners easier to get through my hair and my hair didn't seem to break as much as it used to.
After drying my hair felt quite soft and looked shinier than after using my usual conditioner. The colour that I had used to cover my grey bits seemed to be more prominent and the overall condition of my hair felt better.
I don't use this every time I wash my hair but do at least use it once a week and I have noticed that my hair is overall in better condition.
I bought this on special offer the usual BOGOF, so I got a shampoo and this product for £3.99 from superdrug. Tresemme have a large range of products and are all colour coded for each range so all thick people can tell the difference between the products!
INGREDIENTS
Aqua (Water), Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Bromide, Quaternium-18, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Quaternium 80, Quaternium-26, Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Petrolatum, Dimethicone, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Meadowfoam (Limnanthes Alba) Seed Oil, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Propylene Glycol, Hydroxyethycellulose, Lanolin, Lactic Acid, Pentasodium Pentetate, Menthylparaben, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Parfum (Fragrance).
So if you are allergic to any of that lot don't buy it.
All in all I was pleased with this product I do feel it should be in a bottle and not a tub as the tub is awkward and messy but then that could just be me! The tub has lasted a while even after dropping half of it down the bath! I would recommend it if you have dry hair or you use a lot of heat styling appliances on your hair.
