~Tresemme Instant Refresh Waterless Foam Shampoo~
Tresemme offer a range of hair care products used by salon professionals. They offer a few different dry shampoo products including this 'Waterless Foam Shampoo'.
This foam shampoo is suitable for those who have dry or frizz prone hair and helps to refresh hair between washes. Tresemme claim that it will remove oil from your roots, leave your hair soft and feeling clean and reduce odours without the need for water. Key ingredients include :
*Witch hazel - to absorb oils and impurities
*Aloe Vera - to replenish moisture and shine
*Citrus extracts - refreshing scent
Tresemme recommend 2-3 pumps of this product for mid length hair, rub together and then use your fingertips to distribute the product through your hair. This product should be applied to dry hair and left to sit for a moment before either blow drying or patting dry with a towel.
This foam shampoo is presented in a black and green can with all the relevant product information present and correct. The foam is dispensed via a pump applicator underneath the lime green lid. The can is suitable for being recycled after use and this product has a 12 month shelf life.
~Price and Availability~
Each can contains 150ml of product. Expect to pay around £5.00 for this product. Stockists include Superdrug and Tesco (online and instore).
I normally use Batiste dry shampoo for 'in between' hair wash days. I trust Tresemme as a brand so when I spotted they had a dry shampoo available a snapped up a bottle. Unfortuantely I picked up the Waterless version by mistake and decided just to keep and use it. Personally, I am not crazy for this product at all and definitely prefer the spray dry shampoos.
Dry shampoos have become very popular and are ideal for those going camping, for nights away and simply for refreshing hair between washes. I wash my hair every 2-3days and find that it often looks quite bad in between washes due to excess oil or excess dryness (I have really annoying hair!).
I prefer the simplicity of using a spray on dry shampoo and find that this waterless shampoo is too much hassle. The foam itself is quite watery and resembles the bubbles that a cheap washing up liquid produces. The first time I used this, I suppose I expected a mousse like foam rather than a bubbly foam. My hair is past my shoulders and is quite thick so whenever I use this, I push down on the pump three times in total and spread the bubbly mixture between my fingertips (it can get messy so be warned)! The scent of this product is appealing but not very strong. It is quite fresh and a natural citrus scent. The scent does elimate any odours in my hair (especially smoke if I have been around my Dad or sister too much!).
This product is easy enough to apply to dry hair. It is liquid-y enough to spread through the length of my hair and smooth around my roots. My hair does feel slightly damp once this has been applied and my hands are not left feeling sticky. Unlike a regular dry shampoo, I cannot just brush this product out my hair. I found the towel method to be far too time consuming due to the thickness of my hair so I personally (and grudgingly) blast my hair with the hair dryer for a minute or so and then brush as normal.
Once my hair is blasted with the hair dryer, I notice that this product does absorb the majority of the oil but my hair feels weighed down and dull. I can tell that there is something in my hair - a residue and after a few hours, my hair starts to feel a little dried out - not soft and shiny. My hair doesn't feel very refreshed like it should and lacks shine and body. I feel the need to wash my hair (properly with water) later that evening.
I am not keen on this waterless shampoo. It doesn't perform as well as a dry shampoo spray and is quite a bit more expensive too. It doesn't cut much time off my usual wash and dry routine and is too much hassle for me personally for it to be any use. If you can handle your hair looking and feeling weird for the sake of some oily roots being absorbed then go for it but it really isn't a convenient enough product for those who want to refresh and go in the mornings. This product isn't up to high standards of Tresemme in my opinion.
