Advantages: shiny hair, straight hair, smells nice

Disadvantages: You can't see if the product is working unless you use over a long period of time

I've got the worst hair to straighten in the world. I need lots of products just to get it slightly straight. Plus the amount of straightening that I did (I hated my curls), it made my hair brittle, split ends all over the place. To be honest, a

One day, my hairdresser cancelled on me, the day before I had an interview for a job I wanted. I was gutted. My boyfriend rallied around some of his friends (yes, they are girls) and they helped me straighten it with the help of this product. TRESemme Heat Defence Styling Spray. Though I didn't really realise at the time, that it meant to protect your hair from damage, not to make your hair easier to straighten.
It still straightened my hair like a dream. Just like a real hairdresser had done it. Though I did think that having other people straighten my hair than myself made it a success. Not the product.

Nevertheless, I bought some the next day in Bodycare. I paid £2.99 for it. You can buy it in other places like Boots for £3.59, which is quite a bit more expensive.

* Packaging *

For your money, you get 300ml of the product in a wonderful trigger spray bottle. It looks like one of those gardening spray bottles that you use to keep your plants moist.

It says on the bottle that it helps protect from Ceramic Straighteners, Tongs and Dryers. It reduces frizz and adds shine. It prevents hair becoming brittle and dull.

Also on the bottle there's a salon tip.
Remove the clear clip to unlock the bottle. For soft, shiny hair, spray even through damp hair. Use a brush to pull hair straight and blow dry from the roots to ends. For really smooth finish, use a hairdresser with a concentrator nozzle. For best style results, use TRESemme shampoo and condition and finish style with TRESemme hairspray.

* The Product itself *

The product is clear when you spray it out of the bottle and has this hairdressing smell. You know when you go to the hairdresser and when you walk in, there's that smell. The hairdressing product smell. Its sweet, a bit sickly but nice. Smells bit like flowers.

* So did it work? *

First of all, I threw away the clear clip that was on the bottle. Oops. I didn't really read the instructions that clearly. To be honest, I didn't read them at all when I first bought the spray.
The way I did it was let my hair dry naturally until it was just slightly damp. I only use hairdryers when I have to as it leaves my hair dry and frizzy no matter what I do.

So my hair was slightly damp and I put my Babyliss straighteners on, I spray some of the product on my hair. Waited for the straighteners to warm up. Tick Tock Tick Tock! I sprayed a little more on the individual piece that I was straightening. As I straightened my hair, it made hissing sounds throughout. It must have been the product coming into contact with the hot straightening plates.

Overall, my hair looked very straight but I couldn't really tell if it was protecting my hair. I had use a lot more of the product than I thought I'd have to. Also sometimes griping the bottle while trying to keep your hair straight so you could spray it on evenly was difficult. It's like you need an extra pair of hands sometimes but then again; I normally do when it comes to straightening my hair. When my hair dried and was straight, it was sticky until I brushed it well. Also, you could smell the spray in your hair for days. My boyfriend loved it.

The only problem with this product is that you can't see any of the benefits of the product unless you use it over a prolonged period of time. All I can suggest is to use the whole bottle and then see it was condition your hair is in but in my case, it's worked.

* Overall thoughts *

I think it works brilliantly. After using it for three months, my hair is shiny, straight and smell nice. My hair isn't brittle anymore and it has seemed to cut down my split ends. Though I've found that using TRESemme Heat Defence Styling Spray works better a day after I've washed it. For some reason it just straightens my hair a lot better, it keeps longer and also make it look shinier and bounce. For £2.99, it's a great product and it has lasted me 2 months.

PS. It could be that I have to use more of the product on my hair, as my hair is really thick and quite curly. Plus my hair is very long.

Summary: A protective spray for my hair
