Advantages: Nice smell, claims to protect from heat damage that causes dry, dull and frizzy hair
Disadvantages: Rather expencive, I've not had noticeable results
A lot of advertising is being done recently over the last year or two for TRESemme, a professional product that they've kindly let us normal people experience.
The brand was forumulated 40 years ago and was initially designed for selling exclusively to top salons (apparently). The TRESemme range consists of over 40 products to protect and pamper your hair, all of which, according to the advertising, are made of top quality professional formulas.
I think we often take for granted to day-to-day wear and tear of our hair, especially if you frequently use a hair dryer, colour your hair and straighten your hair. Hair will become damaged, dry, brittle, greasy, frizzy or dull, and so products like TRESemme aim to prevent and treat this damage.
Their Heat Defence Spray comes in a stylish black 300ml spray bottle. It definitely looks like a salon product through its design, but if you're unsure, it uses the word 'professional' several times on the bottle just to get the message across. They pride themselves on bringing these top quality hair treatments at affordable prices, but one of these bottles costs around £3.99 (Boots). I'd say that's a tad pricey as I woudn't have bought one if it wasn't on offer. That said, I'm sure there are a lot of other 'professional' brands out there that are much more expencive so maybe I'm just being stingey.
To use, simply spray the liquid even through damp hair and then brush and style. It suggests that to get a smooth finish you should use the brush to pull the hair straight and use the hairdryer to dry hair from roots to the ends. It also recommends you use a concentrator nozzle on your hairdryer and start the hair washing with TRESemme shampoo and conditioner. Funnily enough, they also recommend you finish with TRESemme hair spray. If you've got the money to splash out on all of these products then maybe, just maybe, you'll get a salon perfect 'do.
It's easy to use and spray through your hair without being sticky. It also has a pleasant sweet smell, similar to those at a hairdressers so you almost feel like you've been out to get your hair done.
I can't say I really notice much difference with this spray. I don't really notice any extra shine after drying and straightening, but I guess I do have a little less frizz. I'd still use this to prevent further damage and drying out of my hair from my straighteners though.
Overall, I'd recommend you give it a go if it's on sale, otherwise it's £4 on something you may not see any instant results from. I like to think that by using it, it's protecting my hair in a way I can't see which is why I'm still spraying on my hair.
Summary: If it's on offer then it's worth a go, even if just to protect you hair from future damage
