Advantages: Its one of the cheapest
Disadvantages: Leaves hair fairly matt
I am not an of Tresemme products in general. So when I ran out of my GHD heat protecting spray, I went to my nearest Asda to find myself a replacement. I was actually quite shocked at the price of these product, not to mention the variation in price!!!!
I decided to put aside my reservations about Tresemme on this occation as they had a 300ml heat defence smooth spray for £3.99. This was by far the cheapest for the quantity you got.
To give you a bit of insight into my reluctance to use Tresemme, I tried the shampoo and conditioner years and years ago when it first came out. It made my head itch, and gave me lots of tiny spots on my forehead....I am not prone to spots ever, so you can imagine my disgust!
Since that experience, I have avoided. My reason for trying this particular product from the range was purely due to the cost and the minimal amount of times and infrequency I am likely to use it. I hardly ever straighten my hair, once or twice a month when I go out, or my hair is having a wildly frizzy day! I never ever dry my long wavy hair with a hairdryer, so no need there either.
So,
The packaging
************
Its in a large black matt plastic bottle 300ml with a very simple to use trigger spray top. It has the simple boxed Tresemme used by professionals logo. The writing on the bottle is darkish purple. It looks good.

The product claims and blurb
***********************
This product is a professional performance??? (really??) Formula helps to protect hair from damage while blow srying and heat styling. Contains a heat activated complex to help protect hair when drying and straightening. Helps prevent hair becoming brittle and dull.
How to apply
***********
spray into damp hair. use a brush to pull hair straight and blow dry from roots to ends. It claims for the best results start with tresemme shampp and conditioner! ( wouldn't unless you want zitts)
It is rather hard to get an even coating in my very long hair, but I just spray away till I think it is mainly covered.
What I think
***********
For me, it smells very nice. Fairly strong and sweet, with a clean crisp undertone. It feels a tiny bit sticky when you put the brush through, makes it fairly difficult to get the brush through! I only ever use it on dried hair as I only ever have used it to straighten my hair with GHD straightners.
When the hot straightners touch the hair, the product fizzes a lot, and steam comes off. This can be a little scarey...but its supposed to be the product working and protecting the hair.
Does it work
***********
It left my hair fairly matt looking. Other products have given it a sheen after it straightened. It wasn't dry as such, just not nice and glossy as it has been in the past. Other than it being a protective spray it majes no claims to gloss or hold. Infact, it tells you its a natural hold. It is difficalt to tell if it is protecting, but my hair certainly doesn't feel any more damaged or dry.
Overall, an OK product that has fairly questionable results. Its cheaper than others, so give it a try.
Summary: Its an OK heat spray that doesn't really do anything else.
