      Horrible dry shampoo

I normally really like Tresemme products as they usually do exactly what they say with minimum fuss. The fact that they are all really reasonably priced too doesn''t hurt. Unfortunately their dry shampoo really let me down and it isn''t something that I would recommend as there are loads of other much better dry shampoos available that work better. I always try and keep some dry shampoo in the house because sometimes I just don''t have time to wash and blow dry my hair but it can look a bit lank and dreary so I just spritz some dry shampoo on it to give it a little bit of a refresh until I have time to do it properly. It will never replace a shampoo and blow dry but it helps to keep my hair looking good in between. The Tresemme dry shampoo sounded impressive promising that it would leave no residue and telling me that it was infused with vitamin B12 to improve the look of my hair. You spray the dry shampoo on your roots and then use your fingers to massage the product through your hair and style as normal. I really didn''t like how this looked and felt in my hair as it actually made my hair look dirty and matted and didn''t leave it looking refreshed at all. Usually with dry shampoos you can brush out the excess and are left with clean and less greasy looking hair. With this one my hair didn''t look greasy but it did look dirty and a bit scraggy which was actually worse than the lank look that it had before using it. The claim that it won''t leave a residue also wasn''t accurate as it left a powdery finish to my hair that looked like dandruff. I tried spraying the shampoo further away from my scalp thinking that maybe I had sprayed it to close but even then there was no noticeable difference and my hair still looked dirty and powdery. It is a shame that this is so bad as normally Tremsemme are better than that but unfortunately this time it isn''t something that I would ever consider buying again.

Nice dry shampoo but not worth the high price tag

Dry shampoo is one of my beauty essentials. As I don''t like to wash my hair everyday, but I do suffer from greasy hair, it''s a lifesaver. The Product

The Tresemme brand claims that their products are used by professionals, but I have yet to walk into a salon that uses them, but maybe that''s just me? It also claims that this dry shampoo is professional quality and it promises to absorb oil to revive hair, giving it a clean and fresh look between washes. Other claims include that this helps your colour last longer, since you aren''t washing your hair as often when you use this, to add body and life to your hair.

This dry shampoo has the same method of application as most types I have tried. First, shake the can vigorously, then holding the can about 25cm from your hair, spray the shampoo onto the roots and other areas that you feel you need a boost, massage the dry shampoo in (it will feel slightly wet at this point), leave a few seconds and then come through and style as normal. When I use it in the morning before going to work, I spray this on just before getting dressed and then when I am dressed comb through. The scent is the only issue that I really have when using this dry shampoo. I''m used to using ones with a nice, fresh scent, but this one doesn''t seem to have much of a scent.

      My thoughts

After using this, my hair did look cleaner, but it definitely was no substitute for washing my hair properly and it definitely wasn''t more bouncy than usual either.

I do like the effects that this dry shampoo gives me. It leaves my hair looking less greasy and with a slight shine to it as well. It is also easy to comb through my hair, and doesn''t leave a white powdery residue like some brands that I have tried. I also found that this seemed to help bring out my highlights more than some other brands of dry shampoos that I have used. The scent is the only thing that I feel lets this down but considering I have used some horrific smelling dry shampoos in the past, maybe the lack of scent is a good thing.

      Price and Availability

I checked Boots.com for the price of this and my eyes nearly popped out of my head. The full size cam (200ml) costs a whopping 5.25GBP. Superdrug have this at the slightly cheaper price of 4.79GBP, so if you''re desperate to try it, it pays to shop around. While I liked the effects that I got from this product, it''s not worth the extra cash, and I couldn''t see anything special enough to justify the high price tag that this one has.

        Disadvantages

A mixture of pros and cons

I was really excited when this dry shampoo came on the market, because I think Tresemme products are great quality and needed something that I could use between washes to keep my hair looking fresh. I was very lucky to find this as part of a set with a bottle of Deep Cleansing shampoo for £2.99 from Savers. I thought the price for the two products was fantastic so I thought I would give it a go.
The instructions on the bottle are clear and expressed that the bottle should be shaken vigorously before being sprayed on my hair at arms length. I did as instructed and left the product to work for a couple of minutes then brushed through my hair. I was impressed by how much cleaner it looked, but it made my normally naturally voluminous hair look quite flat and lifeless. I am a natural redhead and found it restored the shine to my hair, but it left my hair with a strange almost rubbery texture. I have since bought the product again on its own, because I do like the convenience of using it when I'm busy and at £3.99 is not over-priced. Although it left my hair feeling strange, it did overall make it look clean for going out. I would recommend this for convenience, but not necessarily for perfect looking tresses.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        don't bother with it

I am a huge fan of Batiste dry shampoo, loving the fact that I can spray some onto my hair when I feel lazy or I'm in a rush in the morning and it is instantly refreshed. I have tried another couple of brands of dry shampoo but none have been any good. Sadly, my latest buy which was the Tresemme instant refresh waterless foam shampoo also fails to live up to Batiste's high standards.

To use the waterless shampoo you use the pump on the top of the bottle to deliver 2 to 3 pumps to your hands and then distribute the foam through your hair from the roots to tips. I found that the 3 pumps were sufficient to cover my shoulder length hair. You then use your fingers to run the foam all through your hair so that it is evenly distributed and they say you can use a hairdryer or towel to finish off your style.

The foam does make your hair fairly damp, not really wet but I certainly wouldn't want to leave the house when I had just used the foam. It does leave my hair smelling nice and fresh, it smells like my hair has been freshly washed which I like and unlike the Batiste the smell is not overwhelming.

Unfortunately, leaving my hair smelling fresh is about all that the waterless foam shampoo did. My hair may have looked marginally cleaner than it was before (and it wasn't disgustingly greasy, just slightly yucky!) but it still felt horrible and lank. It also looked horrible, if anything the foam shampoo made the roots look even worse than they did before. I wouldn't want to go out with my hair looking the way it did after I used the foam shampoo. The spray shampoos also add volume to your hair and as my hair is thin I like this, I don't think this made any difference to the volume of my hair at all. I did give the foam another couple of tries and got the exact same results so I know it was not just a one off that it didn't work.

I'm not sure how much the foam shampoo costs because I got it free when I bought some Tresemme shampoo but even if I was offered another free bottle I wouldn't take it.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

An o.k product but one not worth paying a premium price for

I can't resist trying a new [new to me anyway] dry shampoo because I use them all the time. That is why I bought a can of Tresemme Instant Refresh dry shampoo from Superdrug, even though that isn't a brand that I have had stunning results with in the past. I paid 69p for a 100ml travel size spray which I think must have been a pricing glitch as it wasn't labelled as a promotional offer and the same shampoo is sold for £2.25 in my local independent chemists. The full size 200ml can is £4.79 in Boots. My local Superdrug doesn't have the smaller size in stock at the moment - I suspect word on the price may have got around!

WHAT THE SHAMPOO IS SUPPOSED TO DO

The number of dry shampoo's around seems to have exploded in the last few years and I am sure most people have now heard of them. Just in case you haven't, they are a shampoo that is designed to be used without water as a means of refreshing your hair between washes. They are usually powder based and tend to come in a aerosol can. I used to use them when camping and now I use them on a regular basis so I can skip the odd hair wash without my hair looking a mess .[I have a scalp that gets greasy quickly so generally I wash my hair daily otherwise.]

Tresemme say that their own dry shampoo is a salon quality product, although I doubt many salons would offer this in place of a proper wash! They say that the shampoo has a unique formula that will remove up to 72% of the excess oils from your hair. They add it will remove odours and transform my lifeless hair into "clean, fresh hair." Removing the need to wash your locks with water so often is said to help maintain hair colour for longer than usual. I don't have dyed hair so I haven't been able to test this particular claim.

          APPLICATION

The can is black, orange and lime green and looks quite smart but I am not sure it really looks any more "professional" than other brands. The most important thing for me is that the spray nozzle is responsive and doesn't get clogged up after you have used the can for a while. It is especially important that the spray of dry shampoo comes out evenly because they are usually powder based. This means that they can leave a temporary whitish coating to your hair which is made worse if the spray doesn't disperse well in the first place. I have learned that some shampoos leave you with a more "floury" look than others but you can avoid a lot of problems by making sure you shake the can really well and spray it from at least the minimum recommended distance. Doing that meant that I found this Instant Refresh Shampoo left very little white residue behind. You are supposed to spray it onto the roots while enjoying the "cooling, refreshing sensation". I wouldn't call it refreshing really, just a bit damp but it isn't unpleasant. This isn't one of those shampoos that you then need to massage into your scalp, instead you just leave it alone for a minute before brushing it out and styling as usual. It doesn't make the hair feel stiff or unnatural so the brushing bit is easy. If you don't like massaging an oily scalp, this shampoo would probably suit you. The damp feeling disaapears very quickly so you don't look or feel like you have wet hair at all.

          SCENT

The biggest plus of this shampoo for me is the scent. Unlike the well known Batiste dry shampoo, I think that there is only one scent of this Tresemme shampoo available, and the actual scent isn't described on the front of the spray. It was a pleasant surprise then to find how fresh and fruity it is. It reminds me of apricots although it is grapefruit and tangerine oil extracts that are listed on the label. It doesn't smell like children's fruit squash like some similar products do - instead it is more natural but still sweet. This fresh aroma is perfect for a dry shampoo in my opinion. - it makes me feel like I am using a nice product and not just an emergency one! It doesn't linger on the hair for me as strongly as I thought it would given the initial scent of it, but it is still delicately obvious by the end of the day if I spray it first thing. That is long enough for me, and I have often found myself topping it up anyway, as I will explain below.

          RESULTS

I regard dry shampoo as a means of maintaining my hair between washes using water and not as a substitute for them. That is because I haven't really found a dry shampoo that is capable of replacing wet shampoo. The Tresemme shampoo won't change my mind about that but refreshing your hair is all that it claims to do. It does instantly correct a greasy appearance to the hair but I don't think it does so any more effectively than any other brand I have used. My hair does look and feel clean and of course it smells nice. I did notice that my hair does not have the added volume that some dry shampoos can give it and this does make the hair look less bouncy and just washed than it could do. The non greasy look and feel does just about last until the end of the day for me. However, I feel happier with the look of my hair if I can re-apply it towards the end of the day because I think it starts to look dull and lifeless again. Re-application is quick so I don't mind having to do so but it does mean that it isn't the longest lasting product of this type I have used. Even using it twice a day doesn't leave any residue on my scalp.

          WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT?

My hair does go greasy very quickly so I suspect that most people could get it to provide longer lasting results than I can. Nevertheless, comparing it to the other 8 or so different dry shampoo brands that I have used, I would say the Tresemme isn't the best despite being almost the most expensive at full price. I prefer those that add volume because I think a flat look to the hair is a big sign that it is in need of some freshening up. My hair normally has more life and bounce after using dry shampoo. Tresemme don't claim that this adds volume though, so I won't rate it down for that - it just doesn't suit me as well as others do. It does deal well with greasy hair, even if I can't get the look to last all day. I do love the scent, and it is probablly my favourite of any dry shampoo. All in all, I am in two minds about recommending this. I think it is a perfectly decent product but when I think that it usually costs much more than others without offering any distinct advantages, bar the scent which is obviously a question of taste. If you want to try a dry shampoo for the first time, I would opt for something cheaper such as the excellent Wilkinsons own brand one to see if you like them. Otherwise I would say this is worth a try in it's own right especially if you like fruity scents, but don't expect it to be better than other products just because it costs more.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A pricey dry shampoo that does it's job for me!

I'm finding recently that working shifts is stopping me from being able to wash my hair as often as I'd like, trying to wash your hair and style it for work the next day when you're only getting 7 hours between shifts after 2 hours worth of travelling - the last thing I'm thinking about is getting in the shower for anything other than to wash my body. So I decided I needed a bit of something to keep my hair fresh between these badly timed shifts; in the past I've used Batiste but recently I've wanted to try something a bit different, and well this was the different I chose!

            ~*~ Tresemme ~*~

The makers of all things hair, shampoo and conditioner - and many other products in between - hair dryers and straighteners, I'm sure I've also seen curlers in their repertoire of products. They aren't a company that are shy to get their name out there when it comes to hair care products - which is justified when you see how well they fly out of the shops. Personally never been a fan of their shampoo's and styling products, but their electric hair stylers are a total different story! However, sometimes you just feel the need to try a styling product and maybe I'm a convert now!

            ~*~ Am I shiny and greasy? ~*~

So this dry shampoo comes in a 200ml can, in all black with a bright yellow lid, white and yellow writing; pop the lid off and you have a black spray underneath, press the spray on the top and it will come out in a fine spray. The can suggests that all you need to do is spray this onto limp, lifeless hair into clean and fresh hair - by using lemon grass and removing oil from the hair.

            To use the spray the can suggests that you;

Remove the lid and shake the can vigorously,
Spray into the roots of your hair 8-12 inches from the hair,
            Leave for a minute,
Work into the hair with tips of your fingers,
Then continue to style as normal.

That's all well and good but, don't know about anyone else, I don't really know what exactly is eight inches away so I just hold it away from my hair and spray and hope. I know that if you have it too close, it's meant to give like a powdery sensation onto your hair, but I'm obviously holding it far enough away not to give myself a massive flour style spray on my hair! It's fairly easy to spray the shampoo on your hair providing you've got a good grip on the can, because it's a fairly chunky can I'd guess it would get a bit hard and bulky if you had a lot of hair to spray, especially trying to spray it that far away from your roots. They say to leave it for a minute, so I find myself doing other things in that 'minute' and that minute turns into five, so to be honest it probably soaks up every bit of oil in my hair while I'm doing something else, like brushing my teeth or putting moisturiser on or something that obviously takes longer than a minute. It suggests that you enjoy a cool refreshing sensation, it's not really refreshing it's just a cold spray on your head that would probably cool you down if it was a hot day more than anything else.

Working it into the hair with the tips of your fingers, if you've got greasy hair probably isn't the best direction in the world, but if you just quickly rub it in and then brush your hair through I seem to get a better result than just rubbing it in with my fingers. Then continuing to style as normal, is really simple, just brushing your hair and do what you'd normally do with your hair is quite easy really, just depends if you've sprayed it too close or too far away so that it hasn't quite covered the roots. I know a couple of friends have tried this on brunette hair and found that it does give it a grey tinge to the roots, but on a blonde head it just makes it clean and fresh looking. On my bright red, you can't tell I've even used it - so that makes it well worth the money for me!

I use it every couple of days and in the past I have not found any problems with it at all, it takes a good couple of minutes to apply because I have a fair amount of hair and like to apply it to every layer of my hair to ensure I've covered it all. It is really easy to style afterwards, don't find it gets stuck in my straighteners or curlers, so I can just get on with my day after using it. When I do wash my hair after you can't tell, it just seems to wash out really easily, no nasty colours in the bath apart from the usual red and it leaves no residue once I've shampooed well, there is nothing left on the scalp once you've used this and providing you've rubbed well there should be nothing in your hair that looks like you've got dandruff or flour in it!

Just fresh looking and feeling hair that smells like citrus fruits

            ~*~ Price and Availability ~*~

I got mine from Asda for £5, but Tesco has it a lot cheaper, well a little bit cheaper at £4.69 a can. It's also available in Boots and Superdrug for around the same price!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

One of the better dry shampoos

Dry shampoo is one of life's essentials as far as I'm concerned and I honestly don't know how I managed before it was invented. One of the better ones is Tresemme Instant Refresh for dry to normal hair. This comes in a 20ml can and it costs £3.45 from most chemists or supermarkets. I usually buy mine from Tesco's. The bottle is fairly large though and I only need a small amount so it does work out pretty good value for money in the long term.

I especially like this dry shampoo as I always find it doesn't leave my hair looking as floury and white as the Batiste range. It also smells very nice. It has a great fresh smell but not that overpowering chemical floral smell like some dry shampoos have. I also find that the smell lasts longer than the Batiste range and t actaully makes my hair smell like it's just been freshly washed.

I have very fine hair that is dry at the ends but prone to being very greasy at the roots. I have to wash my hair every night in the shower otherwise I'd just look terrible the next morning if I didn't. As this dry shampoo soaks up grease at the roots I often use it at weekends if I haven't bothered to wash my hair. It's not only good for soaking up grease but it has the fantastic ability to actually add volume to my hair at the same time. This is definitely an added bonus for me as my hair really does lack life and volume and it's so fine and straight I have to use products to give it a bit of a boost. For this reason, I choose to use this dry shampoo even if my hair has just been washed the night previously. I find that if I give my roots abut two to three very short quick blasts and then rub in well with my fingers, this helps to make my roots look much fuller and thicker.

It's easy to use this dry shampoo. I simply shake the can well, hold about ten inches from my hair and spray finely onto the roots and brush or finger up the roots of the hair afterwards. It instantly makes my hair look a lot better and the effects don't wear off - they last all day.

It washes out well afterwards and it never leaves any sticky residue behind. Possibly the only downside is that it can eliminate what little natural shine I do have to my hair as it gives it a sort of 'matt' effect. However, as it adds volume, I can overlook the slight dulling efefct it gives my hair.

It's a brilliant product which I certainly wouldn't be without and I really recommend it.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Not as good as some others

Dry shampoo is not one of my favourite things but it is something that comes in handy now and again. I usually use Batiste but I will try other brands especially if they are on offer at the time. Tresemme is a brand that I quite like as they do a few good products in the range and they are nearly always better value than other leading brands.

Their dry shampoo wasn't my favourite of their products but it is ok and it would do in a pinch. The dry shampoo comes in a canister just like hairspray and to use it you are supposed to lift sections of hair and spray the dry shampoo on the roots then leave it for a couple of minutes and then massage it throughout the hair to make sure that it is evenly distributed.

It worked ok at getting rid of most of the grease in my hair but to be honest it seemed to take longer to work than Batiste and while with Batiste I can just pretty much add some to my hair and be done with it this needs more work and takes a lot more getting used to.

You need to be careful with how much you add and can't just be spraying everywhere as for some reason adding too much will make your hair greasier than before you started. It can also leave the hair looking limp and lank which isn't something that you want when using a dry shampoo.

Once you have the hang of it though and know the right amount to spray it does do a good job of refreshing hair and leaving it looking cleaner and less greasy without having to actually wash it. The best way of using this is to straighten it straight away after applying it as this not only dries the shampoo but it also leaves hair looking shiny and silky instead of greasy.

The smell of this is really nice too and it does leave my hair smelling fresh and removes all traces of odour from it.

This is simply ok. It isn't as easy to use as Batiste and isn't as good either but I would still use it if it was all that was available in the shop when I went to buy some as I know it will leave my hair looking ok just not great.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Wouldn't really suggest anyone purchase this.

Shortly before Batiste bought out their specific hair colour targeted range, I purchased the Treseme dry shampoo. Available as both a spray and a foam, I opted for the neat little black and green spray canister.

The product has a light, almost citrus scent, and as to be expected the spray is bright white in colour; fine if you have light coloured hair. After massaging into my scalp, and distributing evenly, I found it difficult to get rid of the white powder that clung to my roots despite vigorous brushing.

Like most dry shampoos, it left my hair feeling slightly dry. But not as bad as other brands. The roots felt quite thick injecting instant volume, making it from a distance looking truly fresh and washed. Until I saw that my roots were actually just as greasy as they had been originally. There was a slight difference, but not even repeated application improved the appearance. It felt clean, yet visibly, wasn't.

Quite disappointed with this product, as a big fan of their shampoos and conditioners I really did expect more from this product.

I decided to give dry shampoo a try as having quite fine hair i find that i have to wash my hair every day for it to look anything like decent which does become a real pain especially when i'm a working Mum and don't always have the time!!!

I do have to have my hair tied up for work but still like it to look clean, I was moaning to a friend of mine one day about having to wash my hair every day and she suggested I try dry shampoo so thought I'd give it a go!

I have quite dark hair so when I first sprayed the dry shampoo onto my hair i was a bit worried i was going to look like I had a severe case of dandruff!! I followed the instructions and brushed it out after so many minutes. It did feel a bit fresher and not quite as greasy as it would have done, but there was a lot of floury powder to brush out which ended up all over the floor!!

In summary I would use the product when in a real rush, as it does freshen your hair up, but to be honest it doesn't make your hair feel half as nice as when you've given it a goo wash, but i would use it again!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Greatly recommended

I tend to wash my hair every day, after work and n the shower. We went camping over the holidays and the showers on the campsite were disgusting, you'd have come out worse than before you went in. Consequently, I couldn't get a wash for a few days. We bought some 'dry shampoo' from a corner shop near to the campsite, just to freshen ourselves up and to be honest I had never heard of such a thing as a dry shampoo before hat day. I could only liken it to 'dry cleaning', it' was a weird concept - not being able to use water to wash your hair, but I was prepared to give it a go. The shampoo we bought was from Tresemme and it cost £3.99. My dear other half tried to reassure me if would work as I was complaining about the cost!

I have greasy hair but a dry facial beard. I read the instructions. I shook the can vigorously and sprayed the can about 8 to 12 inches from my head. It was odd. The spray felt cold on my head but the smell was great. It smelled quite fresh - like a blast of meadow air. Bearing in mind I was sitting in the middle of a field with the zipper down on my tent, in the doorway, so no-one could see what I was doing. I also sprayed it liberally over my beard (I have a long 47" beard at its longest point) and then proceeded to comb it through as per the instructions on the can.

I could really feel it had made a big difference to the look and feel of my hair and my hair and been previously feeling quite matted and greasy (I have long hair which I usually wear tied back in a pony tail) and afterwards it felt and looked clean and fresh and quite bouncy. My other half then used it on her head and she was thrilled with the results too. This dry shampoo is not aimed at either males or females, it is a unisex product and as it does not smell too girly or feminine, I am very happy to use it.

The effects of this dry shampoo lasted throughout the day and I was very impressed with the results overall. I didn't feel the need to have to 'top up' the spray and I was not only impressed but slightly taken aback by this spray's ability to perform so well.

I have used it again on many occasions since we have returned from our family camping trip and I am please to report that I shall continue to use it on myself now I am home and I will be buying myself a can of this to take to work inside my rucksack and possibly use it once I have arrived at the office as I think it's a great way to freshen my hair as my head can often feel greasy and sweaty after I have removed my cycle helmet once my ride is over.

Overall a fantastic product and I am really happy with it.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

There are better products out there.

I bought this Tresemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo for use when I didn't have time to wash my hair, if I was in a hurry or just as something quick and refreshing I could use in between washes. Here are my views on this product by Tresemme:

              PRICE AND SIZE:

This product cost me a little under £5 for a 200ml can (which was smaller than a normal can of hairspray) from Boots. This, of course, I would not be prepared to pay for a decent ordinary shampoo, which I could have obtained for about a pound or even cheaper. However, considering the time that having a good, well functioning dry shampoo would save me, the fact that I was in a terrible rush at the time and needed to be somewhere without having the time for a shower stop, and the fact that Tresemme was one of my more trusted brands, I did not dither for too long before making the decision of buying it and trying it out. I understand I probably could have obtained it for a cheaper price had it been on offer or if I had purchased it online; but I really did not have the time.

              FUNCTIONALITY:

Did this dry shampoo work? Well, certainly not as well as a normal shampoo would have; but then, you can't expect too much from a product of which you don't even need to use water with. All you have to do is to hold it about an arm's length away from your hair and spray, as you would a normal hairspray; and then you have to brush it through with a hair brush. The directions were simple enough to follow, and quick enough to do, saving me a lot of time. Upon the moisture coming in contact with my scalp, it did feel a little refreshed, as had been indicated on the dry shampoo's packaging, however it was not nearly as refreshing as I had expected from a shampoo that boasted to be refreshing and that cost me quite a bit to buy in the first place. But that was not such a significant let down for me; I just needed my hair to be clean, not super refreshed. It worked as a dry shampoo, cleaning my hair; however certainly not as much as normal shampoo would. After a few uses, however, I noticed that my hair was feeling rather greasier than normal- not by a huge amount, mind you, but still, by a noticeable amount. I hadn't thought I had been applying too much, and it has always been the conditioner, not the shampoo, that had given me problems related to greasiness before, and this put me off this product a bit.

              PACKAGING AND QUALITY:

The packaging is quite different- the main exterior is a hue of black, however, this is lit up by the neon cap and image on it. I must say, it does look a little out of place on my shelf next to its other Tresemme brethren- almost as if it is taking a turn into tackiness- however, it does not look too bad. It is a reasonable weight and size, lovely for slipping into your bag when you are in need of a quick fix whilst you're out and about. The quality is good; I have never had any trouble with this.

              IN CONCLUSION:

This is a working, functioning dry shampoo; however it is by no means as good as normal shampoo. Being the price and brand it was, it had a lot of expectations... which this product, I'm afraid, failed to meet. It is good for carrying around with you; better than nothing when you can't properly wash your hair, though I would advise for you to use this product as little as possible- only when you are not within range of a shower and desperately need your hair cleaned. Or, as an alternative, I am sure there are better functioning, less greasy dry shampoos that are out there for you to purchase, at a similar or even lower price. I only need this product for rare occasions, and in the meantime will stick to ordinary shampoo; so this only deserved two stars from me.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Didn't work well for me at all

In need of a replacement dry shampoo, I spotted this one on special in Morrisons (I think it was £3.99 when I got it, but £4.69 is the best price I'm seeing at the moment) and thought I would give it a try. I've only tried one Tresemme product before, a shampoo, and that worked ok for me so I was happy to give this a go.

              The claims
              =======
It says it is for normal to oily hair which is about right for my hair. According to the can it removes oil and boosts body and is 'professional quality'. The can claims 'TRESemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo is the perfect solution to instantly cleanse and revitalise hair without water. The unique formula refreshes your hair by removing oil and odour while creating volume. Just a quick spray transforms lifeless, limp hair into clean, fresh hair full of bounce & body'

              The procedure
              ============
Shake can vigourously. Spray into roots of dry hair (well, if my hair was wet I'd be washing it not dry shampooing it, wouldn't I?????) Leave for 1 minute then work into the roots with fingertips. Brush through and style as usual.

              The Results
              ========
YEUK! I needed to wash my hair after I'd used it, it felt so horrible. My hair instantly went really greasy, lank and lifeless. Far worse than it was before I used the stuff. The only thing that matched their claims was that it did smell fresher, but looks wise it was a disaster. If this is professional results, I'll go back to amateur, thank you.

Now, in case you are wondering, I am used to using dry shampoo to freshen my hair up - I know if your hair is in dire need of washing a dry shampoo won't solve the problem. They are great for perking your hair up the day before it needs washing, but once it really needs a wash, a wash is the only thing that will sort it out. My hair was not that bad before I used this, but it sure was afterwards. As my hair was before I used this, my normal dry shampoo would have perked it up ok, so I expected this one to do the same. Sadly my expectations were not fulfilled so I will not be buying this one again, I'm off to buy a can of Batiste.............

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                Don't bother

I find the need to wash my hair everyday otherwise it start to look greasy, my mum always tells me off and says the fact that I wash it everyday is the reason I need to wash it! I decided that I couldn't face not washing it for a day and friends at work had raved about dry shampoo so I thought I would try some.

Not really having a clue, I was in Home Bargains and they had a double pack to Tresemme Shampoo and Dry Shampoo for £3.99 so I thought why not.

The next Sunday, with no plans to go anywhere, I spent 10 minutes reading the instructions on the back and decided to take the plunge.

To apply you do the following:

                - Shake the can vigorously
                - Spray lightly onto you roots from about 8 to 12 inches away
                - Leave the product for about 2 minutes
                - Brush through you hair and style as normal

                Tresemme boast the following:

                - Removed excess oils and impurities to leave hair looking clean and refreshed
                - Volumises normal to oily hair between shampoos, giving hair added body and bounce
                - Perfect for colour treated hair as less washes means less fading

Reading the above, I guess like me you would be excited and looking forward to lively, full of body clean looking hair? Well how wrong could I be!

The first thing that struck me was the smell, it smelt very chemically. I also applied in the bathroom, and there seemed to be a cloud of smoke in the room after I had sprayed! Things only got worse, it looked like someone had thrown a bag of flour over my head, and no matter how much I brushed, it only got a little better. After about 10 minutes of brushing through, it seemed like I defeated the whole purpose of the dry shampoo as my hair was starting to look greasy again.

When I finally did get the 'greyness' out of my hair, it did look ok, by ok I mean it would suffice for staying in but I would not dare go out the house like this.

I also found that 4 hours later, my hair just looked like it did at the start of the day so it really was a waste of time.

I would not recommend this product, I have read reviews of Baptiste see being on Dooyoo so I think I might try this one however if this is no good, I will still have to keep washing everyday!

The product is available in two different sizes, 100ml for around £3 and 200ml for around £5.

Review may be on other site under the same username, wazza115.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Nowhere near as good as a normal Tresemme shampoo in the shower

I wash my hair most days (5-6 days a week) and I think it usually feels greasy on the rare days when I don't wash it. I had heard a lot of good things about dry shampoo, so when I saw that Tresemme had launched their own dry shampoos I decided to try it because Tresemme Salon Silk shampoo and conditioner are some of my usual hair favourites.

Instant Refresh comes in a 200 ml black can with a yellow lid and a yellow squiggle on the front. the Tresemme logo is clearly printed on the front so it is easy to find on the shelves. The can states it is for normal to oily hair and "removes oil & boosts body". This sounded ideal for my needs. To use the dry shampoo, you shake the can and spray it onto dry hair from 8-12 inches away, leave for a couple of minutes and then brush your hair.

Sound promising. So, does it work? Unfortunately, not really! The smell is supposedly citrussy and it is okay, not too offensive, but not exactly pleasant either. It is a bit chemically. When I use this, my hair feels a bit less greasy so I think it does remove some oil, but it doesn't make my hair feel clean at all. I feel a bit grimy when I have it in, as if there is something a bit sticky and gunky in it! My hair also won't lie right and doesn't have the usual shine and feel it has after washing, because this doesn't include any conditioning elements. A white sticky, powdery residue has built up around the nozzle of my can, so it is not too nice to think that is actually what I have been spraying onto my hair.

Overall, it is handy to have for an absolute emergency and I have used it a few times when travelling when I wasn't able to wash my hair in the morning, but it is not really a substitute for a proper hair wash and I wouldn't like to use it often. If I finish this can I think I would rather try another brand of dry shampooo, maybe Batiste, and see whether it is just Instant Refresh that I am not keen on or if I actually just don't like dry shampoo at all.
