Whenever my mum comes to visit, she usually brings a little bag of goodies with her. One of these goodies was the Naturals Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, probably due to the excess amount of complaining I do about the dryness of my hair. This is the review of the shampoo.
What does the product do?
The product promises to gently cleanse the hair leaving it feeling fresh and clean. It claims that it will hydrate the hair and to protect it from becoming damaged and snapping using natural ingredients. With the inclusion of Avocado Oil and Aloe Vera Extract it promises to leave the hair more manageable, in a better condition, healthy and smooth. It makes the big claim that after just one wash, it will make the hair up to 10x stronger.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a black plastic bottle which is typical of this brand. To show it is part of the naturals brand, it has green leaves on the front. Some extra information about the product is given on the back of the bottle. The top of the bottle is black and you have to push down on one side of it in order to open the bottle and push down on the other side in order to close the bottle. The product will cost around £4 for a big 500ml of the bottle, although smaller bottles are available and these cost less. You can buy the product from stores such as Superdrug and Boots, large supermarkets and also from a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product has a hint of the usual Tresemme smell to it but it also has an aroma that reminds me of old fashioned hard boiled travel sweets. It isn't strong or overpowering and the subtlety of it means that it shouldn't put anyone off using the product. It has the consistency which you would expect from a shampoo. The product is easily dispensed from the bottle, although it is on the heavy side! It is easy to massage the product into the hair and it feels completely comfortable on my scalp and it doesn't cause me any irritations. A little of the product goes a long way so it should last a long time. You get a nice lather with the shampoo and it makes you feel like it's getting your hair really clean.
It is easy to rinse the product out of the hair. My hair was easy to brush through when it is still wet and it is tangle free. When my hair is dry, it is manageable and a little bit less free so it must be quite hydrating. My hair feels quite soft and although I wouldn't say it was noticeably stronger, I suppose I have seen slightly less hairs breaking and snapping when brushing and styling. It doesn't give my hair much shine and in a way it looks a little dull. It doesn't weigh down my hair or make it look greasy and it does leave my hair very clean and free from hair products or grease. My hair smells clean even though it doesn't really leave an aroma on the hair.
All in all, this does cleanse the hair well, leaving it looking, feeling and smelling fresh and clean. It leaves my hair tangle free, soft and manageable, and a little less breaking of hairs is noticeable after brushing and styling. It doesn't leave a nice aroma of the hair and it doesn't give my hair much a shine. There's nothing wrong with this shampoo, and it does what it promises, but I prefer sweet smelling shampoos which give the hair a shine so while I will continue to use the product, I wouldn't buy it for myself.
I have terrible hair. There's no other way to put it. I have always had limp, thin hair that gets greasy very quickly, so although I've given up looking for a product that will magically make my hair thick and bouncy, I do switch shampoos quite often looking for one which will allow me to go two days before needing to wash it again as my scalp has been getting quite dry due to daily washing. This, however, caused another problem. I started developing spots on my neck and upper back. A little bit of research suggested that this might be caused by ingredients in the shampoo - namely Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. So I specifically sought out a shampoo with low or no sulfates, and thie Tresemme Naturals shampoo was one of the more affordable brands I came across.
I've used Tresemme in the past, and never been particularly blown away by it but I wanted to see if the lower sulfate shampoo would clear up my back problems, and as long as it got my hair clean, I wasn't too bother about miracles. I went for the Nourishing Moisture shampoo (rather than the Vibrantly smooth version) as I also can't use conditioner very regularly, so I was hoping the shampoo alone would help retain moisture and sort out my dry scalp. I bought a 500ml bottle in Boots for around £4.00 which I felt was a good price as I was paying around the same for half as much Aussie shampoo before this.
It comes it the typical black Tresemme bottle and smells lovely, kind of similar to other salon brands. It also lathered up really easily, and I found a little went a long way, especially on my fine hair. As for the results? My hair felt genuinely clarified and after about two weeks of using this shampoo alone, with no conditioner, I did notice that my hair seemed healthier, smoother and in great condition. My scalp also seems to be getting a lot better, as it isn't as dry and there are fewer flakes. I can also manage to go two days before having to wash my hair, though if I have a special occasion, I err on the side of caution and wash it again that morning anyway. The difference is that my hair and scalp aren't so damaged by all the washing anymore!
And the breakouts on my back and neck are clearing up, which is probably the best result for me from using this product! Who knew that the right shampoo could actually take care of spots?! I suspect the low sulfate formula actually does have an effect on the skin, and I couldn't be happier that I finally found the cause of the problem and solved it. For this reason alone, Tresemme Naturals is now my go to shampoo! If you have problems with spots on your back or shoulders, I would really urge you to at least give this shampoo a try for a few weeks to see if it helps. You won't be compromising on your hair care and it could just be the solution.
In the past, I've often had problems with shampoo becoming less effective the longer I use it, so I hope I don't have the same problem again with this, as it definitely makes my hair feel lighter, healthier and less weighed down by product than before, so it's a perfect all round hit!
Having been a big fan of Tresemme products for a few years now, I was intrigued when I saw the adverts for the new Naturals ranges and thought 'I have to try that!'. So I took myself off to Boots and used my Advantage Card points to treat myself to the Nourishing Moisture shampoo and conditioner. So here is my review for Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Shampoo:
1. The Smell:
This to me is one of the most important things when it comes to shampoos and conditioners. I love the smell of this. It definitely has floral notes to it and I can also smell fruit in there too. It's a wonderful smell that isn't one bit overpowering. Smell gets 5 stars from me!
2. The Lather:
Again, another important factor when it comes to shampooing. I am genuinely amazed by the lather seeing as it is a low sulphate formula. It lathered brilliantly, covering every strand of my long, thick hair and I could tell it was doing a fantastic job as when I smoothed my bubbly hair down to detangle it, it felt silky smooth with no knots at all which is a big deal when you have curly hair like mine that has a tendency to become coarse! It rinsed out with total ease and the smell filled the whole bathroom. Lather gets 5 stars from me!
3. The Result:
This is of course important. Now I have to mention that I always follow my shampoos with the matching conditioners so cannot comment on the shampoo alone. But I definitely could feel a difference in my hair's texture after I'd rinsed this shampoo out of my hair. And after conditioning my hair with the conditioner, when my hair had been left to dry naturally as usual, my hair was silky smooth, lightly fragranced, felt a lot stronger and wasn't in the slightest bit tangled or dry. And the shine was amazing! After using the shampoo and conditioner for 2 weeks solid, the change in my hair's texture was incredible. I put this down to the low sulphate formulation. Result gets 5 stars from me!
Overall, this is a 5 star shampoo that gave my hair a complete new lease of life and I would definitely recommend to all my friends! Price wise a 500ml bottle of this can be bought for around the £4 mark in all good supermarkets and chemists.
I do like to shop around when it comes to shampoos and Ive tried many different types from lots of different brands. Tresemme though is always a brand I return to time & time again because their products seem to work best on my hair type. I normally use their heat defence or colour related products but a few months back my mom came home with a few bottles of this 'Tresemme Naturals Shampoo' which she had found on offer and thought Id like to try out - she knows how much I enjoy testing new products, especially from this range. To be honest I dont think this would have been a shampoo Id have chosen for myself but Im very glad I got to try it out because this is a brilliant shampoo.
Price - Around £4.99 - 900ml bottle [which is HUGE!!]
Stockists: Superdrug, Boots, Supermarkets & even Amazon stock this shampoo.
Other Info: Promises to protect hair against breaking and further damage - the aloe vera and avocado are said to do that whilst also hydrating your hair from the very first use. This shampoo is suitable for use on ANY hair type - even coloured hair as this contains no dye or added nastys that usually strip colour. Hair will feel 10x softer and stronger after just one use Tresemme claim - not sure it quite manages that but its very good nonetheless.
The packaging for this shampoo is pretty standard I think. It comes in a very large 900ml black bottle which has the usual push down cap at the top - which shockingly is very easy to open even with wet hands and easy to close to keep the shampoo inside in tip top condition when your not using it. It seems very secure to me - Im always knocking everything off the shelves when Im in the shower and this one has never leaked so far so its definitely strong/secure enough for clumsy people like me LOL. On the front and back of the bottle is quite a bit of information on the product - a little bit about Tresemme as a company, a section on this product and its claims, directions for use, ingredients, shelf life etc - but should you have any other questions or queries about the shampoo there is an additional website & street address you can write to. The packaging isnt exactly the most eye-catching thing ever - in fact I dont think I would have looked twice at this in a shop but it is very effective and thats the main thing for me.
Now I assume everyone knows how to use shampoo so Ill keep it simple - get a VERY small amount onto your hand [I find that a 10p sized amount is more than enough for me and I have very long hair], apply it to wet hair, later it up for a few minutes and then wash it out. Now here comes my one very small issue with this shampoo - you do need to spend quite a long time making sure this is totally rinsed from your hair. The first time I used this I dont think I spent enough time rinsing it and the next morning there were very noticable leftover flakes in my hair, not a good look. I find this shampoo does take longer to rinse out than others Ive tried - even when you only use a small amount. Which isnt a major issue I suppose but I dont like using this one when Im in a rush as Im always worried about it leaving soap flakes behind, but rinse for about 3-4 minutes and you should be fine. The shampoo itself is very thick and has a very pearly/sparkly colour to it - I assume this is added to increase the shine and gloss that you hope your hair will have - and I have to say it does do that without making your hair look super glittery - the thickness as well is quite nice as it does make your hair feel much softer straight away - most shampoos when used alone dont do that to my hair so thats a definite bonus in my opinion.
The scent of this shampoo is definitely worth mentioning in my opinion because I assumed that would be the one thing about it that I wouldnt like. I detest the scent of aloe vera AND avacado so I didnt think the fragrance of this would appeal to me at all but shockingly I really like it. It doesnt smell of aloe vera or avacado at all in my opinion - the scent of this does remind me of going to the hairdressers - it does smell very fruity and sweet and I can gurantee this will remind anyone of a trip to the salon - you can see why Tresemme was originally a salon only brand on scent alone - Im very surprised to say I love the smell and it lingers on my hair for ages so thats even better!!
I very happy to say the results of this shampoo are just as brilliant as the scent. Im not sure this made my hair feel 10x stronger from the first use but now Ive been using it for around a month I can certainly see the benefits to my hair. My hair is usually quite dry because its - a] very long b] coloured at least once a month and c] I use heat appliances on it daily so I need hair products that will combat the effects of those 3 things. This shampoo has been doing a great job of that so far. My hair looks more glossy and healthy since Ive started using this and it even feels stronger and the split ends dont feel or look as dry as they used to in my opinion so it definitely does everything it promises in my opinion. It doesnt work as fast as Tresemme claim BUT with prolonged use I think everyone [regardless of hair type] will see the benefits of using this after a few washes. I highly recommend this shampoo as for me it does work brilliantly - Im only knocking a star off because it takes me a lot longer to wash it out than most shampoos. Apart from that though I say grab yourself a bottle!!
Thanks For Reading.
