Tresemme Salon Silk Shampoo
Advantages: Good consistency that's easy to lather, doesn't weigh hair down, often on offer, nice scent
Disadvantages: None for me
I bought one of these when I came across it on offer at half price. Having used Tresemme before, it's a brand I trust to bring effective and good quality products to shelves, plus I can't resist a bargain! If your hair needs a little TLC to get it smooth again, this may be worth trying.
Tresemme are very popular and well-known for being 'used by professionals', with the advertising tagline of 'professional, affordable'. I'd say they have a reputable image, creating products that are modern, effective (hence 'salon quality') and yet reasonably priced. Their ever-expanding range gives them a lead on other hair care brands and they can be found in most pharmacies, health and beauty online stores and supermarkets.
Their Salon Silk shampoo is designed for dry, frizz-prone hair and comes in a plastic black bottle. The one I bought on offer is huge compared to my other shampoos at 900ml. It's quite a minimalist but stylish design, with the type of shampoo (smooth, Salon Silk) in a green box to set it apart from the rest of the range. The lid is a push-down one that can be relatively hard to actually push down, but then it leaves a small hole from which to dispense the shampoo. It's a good consistency that's not too runny but not too thick that you're clumping it on to your hair, and it comes out as white and silky smooth. It has a sweet, feminine scent that I love so it's very pleasant to use.
This is designed to provide 'intense mositurisation' whilst taming frizz and flyaway hair through a combination of ingredients, including silk proteins and vitamin H. It's described as an 'advanced smoothing system' that enables 'gentle cleansing' and the smoothing of hair to leave you with silky, 'salon-soft' locks.
To use, do so as you would with any shampoo. Apply to wet hair and massage in to a lather with your fingertips in to the scalp and roots, working your way down to the ends and then rinse thoroughly. Obviously, they recommend using this in conjunction with their other products (such as Tresemme Smooth conditioner and styling products, treatment sachets etc) for best results.
I really like the light scent this leaves after washing, which my boyfriend has commented on too. It's easy to lather up and to rinse out, and I find that after drying my hair it does feel a bit more nourished. It's not too heavy on hair but it seems to help moisturise it and leave it that bit silkier, smoother and of a healthier appearance. I don't use too much each time so I haven't noticed it leaving my hair greasy by the end of the day, and not using too much also makes the bottle go a long way, so it's good value for money when on offer.
Overall, I would recommend this. It's pleasant to use, has a lovely scent and leaves hair looking a bit healthier and shinier without being greasy or weighing it down.
900ml sells for around £4.79 (Superdrug) though I bought this at half price in Wilkinsons for around the £2 mark.
Overall... Pretty much does what it says on the tin - Salon Quality hair at an affordable price. Worth trying if you need some hair TLC to help get it smooth and sleek.
