Advantages: Smoothes the hair and makes it feel silky

Disadvantages: The results aren't incredibly long lasting

Smoothing Crème Serum by Tresemme is a hair styling product that has been designed to control frizz and to nourish the hair, leaving it feeling soft and manageable. It promises to give your hair a natural finish while keeping it under control.

How does it work?
The product contains vitamins and minerals to nourish the hair. It also contains Wheat Protein which strengthens and protects each strand and helps to stop dampness from reaching them which can lead to frizziness.

How do you use the product?
The product is to be initially applied to damp hair that has been shampooed and conditioned. According to the bottle, you need to take a couple of walnut sized amounts of the product and run it through the length of your hair.

My hair is past my shoulders and I personally don't use that much as I always panic about my hair looking greasy or being weighed down. You can also use this serum as a finishing crème by smoothing some of the product over your finished style. I use it on a section at a time before straightening but I use a teeny tiny amount on each section, again because I don't want my hair to look greasy.

Packaging and Price
The packaging has been kept simple as is often the case with Tresemme. It comes within a white bottle that has a black lid and you push down on one side of the lid to make the other side flip open. The bottle is slightly see-through so you can keep an eye on how much of it you have left.

I can't remember how much my bottle cost as I've had it for a very long time. I expect it was around £3 for 200ml, judging by the usual prices of Tresemme and I bought mine from Asda so I imagine that it will be available from most large supermarkets and some department stores, as well as from many online websites.

My thoughts
The product has a cloudy, milky colour which is different to the clear serum that I was expecting. I always worry when putting products of this colour on my brown hair in case they show up when they dry, but this one disappears as it is smoothed into the hair.

It has a strong fruity but fresh scent to it which is exactly the same as the Tresemme Shampoos and Conditioners so if you've used some of the other products in the range, you'll know what to expect.

The texture is thick and rich, as you would expect a serum to be. I don't believe you need very much of this product to work its magic at all, especially when using on dry hair, hence why my bottle has been going strong for a couple of years now. If you use the tiniest bit on your hair, it still smoothes the hair nicely and fights the frizz away. I also carry some in a little pot during the day to target the ends of my hair as I don't find the results to be incredibly long lasting.

It does give the hair a nice shine and leaves it feeling really soft and silky. It doesn't weight the hair done and the hold is completely natural. It isn't sticky and it doesn't tangle so to the passerby, it wouldn't look like you have a product on your hair at all.

All in all, this product works well on the hair and smoothes it out nicely. It smells nice and looks natural on the hair. It gives the hair a shine and keeps frizz at bay for a while. It doesn't work wonders and there are similar products that I like that work better but they are more expensive. For the price, it works well enough and I will continue to use it until it is all gone, which probably won't be for another few years!

Summary: A hair smoothing serum whihc fights frizz and adds shine
