Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Bulky packaging, makes hair frizzy and greasy

I use my GHD's on a regular basis (virtually daily) to style my hair and as a result I am really conscious about the damage I cause to my hair, so I am always on the hunt for a conditioner that helps me to repair it or keep it in good condition.

Being honest I am very lucky and my hair is very shiny and glossy generally, even when my hair was peroxide blonde it still remained shiny and didn't dry out like the hairdresser warned me it could. My hair is now dyed (with level 2 hair dye) a mid - dark brown . It's quite long about halfway down my back, so with having long hair I do really need to take care of it.

I already use the Tresemme Heat defence spray on a daily basis which is excellent so when I saw this I had high expectations and though I would get really good results.

Packaging
The packaging is the usual Tresemme shaped 900ml bottle. The only difference is that the labelling on the Thermal Recovery Conditioner has a red metallic strip on the front, making the product seem slightly more exclusive than the other more plainly labelled conditioners in the range.

Price
For a 900ml bottle you are looking to pay around £3.89 in Boots which for the amount appears cheap... except that the product isn't very good. The other conditioners from the Tresemme range are cheaper and perform a lot better.

Application
The product is very thick which makes squeezing it out of the bulky packaging difficult even with a full container of conditioner. Once this container becomes half full I would imagine that getting the product out of the large bottle would be extremely difficult especially if you had arthritis or were not very strong.

I used my usual 50p size blob of conditioner and applied to the ends of my hair. I left on my hair for around 1 minute. When rinsing this off my hair I did notice it took slightly longer than usual and my damp hair did feel like it had a greasy coating on it despite rinsing my hair for a lot longer than usual

The smell of the conditioner is pleasant and quite lightly fragranced. Great if you don't like over powering smelling conditioners.

Performance
After blow drying my hair something with my hair just didn't feel right. My hair felt thick but wiry thick, not full of volume, and more frizzy than usual. It didn't look glossy or shiny like I expected, it was almost the same effect as if I hadn't used any conditioner.

When I touched my hair it didn't feel sticky or greasy but like it had a coating on it and a lot heavy than usual.

The smell of the conditioner in general is very much the same as other Tresemme products and not unpleasant but when I straightened my hair with my hair straightners it smelt like my hair was burning. Not a good thing for a conditioner, which claims its perfect for hair that is inflicted to this sort of styling!

I eventually managed to leave the house after taming my hair, but grumbling about the lack of shine and then overall texture of my hair! By mid afternoon my hair started to look lank and in need of a good wash. Not a great look! I was extremely disappointed

Overall
My advice is this is one of the poorer Tresemme conditioner from the range, it does not live up to its promises and gives the (usually very good) Tresemme conditioners a bad name. It actually makes hair feel wiry and slightly frizzy. If you want a conditioner that leaves your hair feeling soft and that offers deep conditioning go for the Tresemme Salon Silk conditioner. Its Tresemme's deepest conditioning treatment, its slightly cheaper and gives far superior results.

Summary: Not a conditioner I would recommend and definitely one of the poorer conditioners from Tresemme
