The Tousle Me range
I tend to really like Herbal Essences products, and was keen to try the Tousle Me range when it was launched a short while back. I have naturally curly hair and this promises to define curls, which sounded good to me!
This currently costs £4.79 for a 150ml tub in Boots. There is also a shampoo, conditioner and moisturising mask in the range. All the products come packaged in pretty and distinctive purple.
This finishing cream promises to define waves for a messy, sexy look and can be used on both wet or dry hair.
After shampooing and conditioning my hair, I always add a hair styling product then leave it to dry naturally. I always use a cream-based product as these work best for my hair - gels and mousses don't work for me at all. So I really thought this would be a great product for my hair and I was looking forward to using it.
Applying the product
Inside the purple tub is a white cream. Taking a little out, I noticed it had a slightly sticky texture, and it is a mix between a gel and a cream really. It smells delicious - a lovely, fresh, floral fragrance that I really like, and certainly suits the Herbal Essences range.
I found this easy to apply to my hair when it was still damp from the shower. I take a little of the cream out of the tub, rub my palms together and run my hands though the mid lengths to the tips of my hair. I then smooth my palms over the top of my hair to tame any frizzies.
As I say this felt a little sticky to the touch, and I did think this felt a little sticky as I applied it to my hair. However, I thought no more about it as I left my hair to dry naturally...
And dry is the right word! Once my hair had dried naturally, I found it felt really dry and unpleasant to the touch, with a slight "crispiness" to my curls. Although my curls did look more defined, I hated the feel of this product on my hair as it felt as if the product had coated the strands. And as the day wore on, the curls lost their definition and instead I could just feel a sort of sticky residue on my hair.
I have since tried this product a few more times to try and get it to work for me but sadly I've still had no luck with it. It is possible that this may work for some people if you don't mind your hair having a slightly crispy feel to it, but I really don't like it at all.
In summary ...
This product does nothing for me sadly. It does add definition to curls but it makes them feel yucky in the process! So this is off to the bin I'm afraid.
