Advantages: cleans hair really well, a little goes a long way, fresh smell, unisex

Disadvantages: none barring price - and it lasts for ages so that's not really a problem

I first came across Tresemme shampoos and conditioners when they were on a ridiculously cheap special offer at my local Co-op pharmacy. My first instinct was that they couldn't have been all that good if the pharmacy were selling them off for peanuts but, as I was feeling ready for a change of shampoo (and even more than my usual level of skint), I thought 'what the heck, let's try a bottle'. I also bought the matching conditioner, as I'm funny that way....

Tresemme products claim to be of salon quality, at affordable prices - but do they live up to the blurb on the packaging?

Speaking of the packaging, the sleek black bottle does look very much like it contains a product you might buy, or at least have your hair washed with, in an expensive salon.

The shampoo is a clear, bluish liquid, with a fresh but not overpowering or sickly fragrance. This is definitely a unisex product, and not just one for the girls! It foams up well and rinses out easily, and does leave my hair feeling and looking really clean. I always use it with the matching conditioner, and find that my hair has plenty of shine once dried.

One very important thing I would say about this shampoo is that a little goes a VERY long way (again substantiating the 'salon quality' claim). You may think it's a bit pricey but trust me, this stuff lasts for AGES. I've had the same bottle for a good few months now, and I wash my hair 3 or 4 times a week.

Another good point is that my hair doesn't seem to be 'getting used to' this shampoo and feeling like it needs a change (I know this is meant to be a myth, but I really find most shampoos stop working properly on my hair after a while - or maybe I jutst get bored?).

All in all, this is a very good shampoo indeed, and it's often on special offer at local chemists, chain drugstores and supermarkets, so if you see it at less than full price, grab it!

Summary: a really effective shampoo, and much better value than it seems at first glance
