Advantages: Cleans hair without drying, no residue, pleasant unisex scent
Disadvantages: Chunky bottles can be awkward to hold
I've used the Tresemme range of shampoos and conditioners for several years now, initially tempted by the promise of 'salon quality' hair. Since then I have continued to come back to the brand on a regular basis, attracted by the fact that it offers great value for money and a range of products that I have grown to trust.
Amongst my favourite Tresemme products is this 'Moisture Rich' shampoo containing Vitamin E which I tend to use in conjunction with the conditioner from the same range. This shampoo is designed for hair that is dry or damaged and promises to restore moisture and shine, whilst still being light enough for everyday use if necessary. This shampoo is very widely available from most supermarkets and chemists and is sold in 900ml or 500ml bottles which stand out on the shelves due to their simple but chunky design. The colour scheme is also simple and straightforward with the shampoo bottle being black and the conditioner white so they are easy to tell apart, even when still half-asleep after a disrupted night's sleep!
I tend to wash my hair every two or three days, as I have long, curly hair that has a tendency to become dry and frizzy so I avoid washing it too frequently. I find the consistency of this shampoo to be very well suited to my long, thick hair as other brands can be too watery and wasteful. The creamy white shampoo is thick enough to coat my hair easily without escaping through my fingers. I find it easy to work through the entire lengths of my hair and find that it produces a generous amount of creamy and pleasant smelling lather easily which is easy to distribute throughout my hair.
Despite its thick consistency, I find the shampoo rinses out easily without leaving any residue or greasiness. Unlike some other brands, this doesn't appear to dry my hair out after washing although I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable about using this shampoo without following with a moisturising conditioner, making it slightly difficult to evaluate this shampoo on its own merits. I do like that my hair isn't left literally 'squeaky clean' as I think thai is actually a sign of all of those necessary and beneficial oils being washed out of the hair, rather than an indication of cleanliness.
The scent of the shampoo is in keeping with other products from the range, so I do find that the products complement each other and work best when used in conjunction with the matching conditioner. The scent of this shampoo is quite strong and distinctive, but suitably unisex and my other half has been known to use this without complaining. I really like the scent , associating it with clean, freshly washed hair, and find that it lingers pleasantly on my hair between washes without being overpowering.
One of the attractions of this product and the brand in general is that it is frequently on promotion, meaning that I'm able to stock up on quite a few at a time. The full RRP for the larger bottles is around £4.69, but it is often part of a multi-buy promotion, occasionally even on a Buy One Get One Free offer, making this excellent value for money.
The main drawback is the design of the bottles for practical use. They are cumbersome to hold and use, particularly the large 900ml version which I tend to buy. The sheer size of the bottle means that it can be surprisingly heavy and slippery, especially for the first few uses and I think it would benefit from having some indents around the middle to make it easier to hold. I do like the robust flip up lid, which dispenses the shampoo easily and evenly. It is also a little tricky to open which is actually a blessing for me as it prevents my toddler from being able to open the bottle and pour half of the contents away.
In all, this isn't an amazing miracle product but it is a reliable and pleasant smelling shampoo that does make my hair feel clean and protected from any further damage. Given its value for money, it is a product that I shall continue to use and am happy to recommend, certainly in conjunction with the matching conditioner from the range.

Summary: A good value shampoo that compliments the conditioner well
