Tresemme Platinum Strength Monodose
by ryeb My sister was doing an order on Superdrug's website when she came across some half price Tresemme products, including some from their relatively new Platinum Strength range. She knows that I use a deep conditioning treatment every week so she bought me one of the reduced Tresemme offerings for the grand price of 69p. That sounds very ... cheap I know, but it is for a single use treatment - the Platinum Strength Monodose 60 Second Treatment shot, which normally costs £1.49. I don't have overwhelmingly good results with Tresemme products in general even if they are not awful. So I probably wouldn't have bought the treatment myself but I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth! WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO In Tresemme's own words, the "monodose" is a concentrated rinse off treatment that can be used whenever your hair "needs deeper care and repair" or on a weekly basis. I have since realised that most if the information in the Superdrug product description is referring to the Platinum range as a whole rather than this specific product. It mentions the fact "Platinum Strength" is supposed to repair up to 2 years of damage after just 5 uses, but a note below says this claim refers to using the shampoo and conditioner together, not the treatment shot, compared to using a non conditioning shampoo alone. [Not a particularly fair comparison in my opinion!] The monodose is said to have been added to the collection to provide a "super quick fix" for those who need it. I don't dye or straighten my hair but it is still damaged at the ends which tend towards dryness and splitting. Regular use of the Aussie 3 minute treatment has definitely helped improved the condition of my ends and my hair in general so I was curious to see how the Tresemme product would compare. LIKE SUPER GLUE FOR THE HAIR The treatment comes in a tiny black and white squeezy tube, that strongly reminds me of superglue. Thankfully the product itself doesn't! The tube is supposed to contain one 15ml treatment but I found there was more than I needed in the packet. My hair is 5cm past my shoulders at the moment but it isn't thick. I used about three quarters of the treatment in one go. I did wonder whether I ought to try and use it all but my hair felt well covered so I decided I would use my judgement and leave the rest in the tube. I have had more problems with using too much conditioner type products than too little! The nozzle twists off easy and provides a small opening to squeeze the treatment out off. This is quite handy as it allows you to apply the treatment in small amounts as you work your way across your hair, which is better than being overwhelmed by a palm full of the stuff dripping through your fingers. It is actually quite thick but a bit less creamy than the Aussie product I am use to. You are supposed to apply it after using the Platinum Strength Shampoo so I borrowed some from my sister. After rinsing that out, I massaged the treatment through the ends and lengths of my hair, avoiding the scalp as instructed. This was quick easy to do and the texture of the treatment makes it pleasant also. A nice scent helps. It reminds me of sunflower body spray I had from Boots when I as younger, combined with a citrusy edge. As a whole it is a clean and refreshing smell, and lighter than the rather sweet Aussie treatment. The scent didn't linger on my hair for long after rinsing though [a few hours], which is a shame as appealed to me. You get to enjoy the scent for the minute that the treatment rests on your hair though. Rinsing it off was easy and didn't take much more time and effort than removing a standard conditioner. WORTH A MINUTE OF MY TIME? As I was rinsing my hair I thought that it felt smooth as all good conditioners leave it at that stage. My hair was especially easy to brush and really tangle free. I had to wait for it to dry to see the full results though. I was impressed by the shiny and healthy look it had, which does compare easily to my usual treatment. It looked far better conditioned and generally healthier than when I use a normal shampoo and conditioner. It also felt much softer. I did detect a fraction more frizz when I first brushed it my hair but this settled down and didn't present a problem when I was actually styling my hair. Whether any damage to my hair has actually been repaired would be hard to judge without a microscope but the most obvious problem - a few split ends are still as present as ever. I didn't expect one dose of treatment to do a lot and I am sure that Tresemme would advise using all of their products together to get the best results. I can't detect that my hair would be strengthened against further damage either, although I am sure having few tangles does help prevent some breakage. I am pleased with the visible results though and I am also delighted that it didn't make my hair look dull the next day or go greasy more quickly as some treatments have. WOULD I RECOMMEND THE MONODOSE? I would as it works to provide the promised "super quick fix" for your hair, leaving it looking softer, shinier and healthier looking. I reserve judgment about how it may or not strengthen my hair as I could not notice any improvement but I have used only a single treatment shot. The packaging does say it can be used either weekly or whenever you need a quick boost so if you use it in the former way you may notice more of a difference. However, while I found plenty of the product had been supplied for the promised single treatment, at full price of £1.49 a go, it is more expensive than the treatment I normally use. As it doesn't offer anything better in terms of how my hair looks and feels, I will stick to Aussie even if the Tresemme product is good in it's own right. I have noticed that Tresemme offer another "Renewing" deep conditioning treatment in the Platinum range which is for weekly use and l may try that in the future as I think it would work out cheaper per dose. In conclusion, the monodose may be annoyingly named to me, but it would be a good way to try an intensive treatment at a low price even if using it often wouldn't be as inexpensive. Available at Superdrug and Boots, and no doubt other suppliers too. Read the complete review |

Tresemme Split Remedy Intense Recovery Masque
by alyson29 Taking care of my hair has been an important part of my beauty regime for many years, particularly as I consider it to be my pride and joy. I have no doubt spent a fortune on hair care during my lifetime and whilst I don't seek out designer products, I purchase purse friendly brands whose products are specifically created for my hair ... type. I would describe my hair as normal although due to it being long and thick, the ends are prone to dryness and splitting. Whilst I wash my hair on alternate days using a normal shampoo and conditioner, for an additional moisture boost I always use intensive masks once or twice a week. I've used a number of different brands over the years with Dove being the one that best suits my needs in terms of results and price. However, being the inquisitive person that I am and my love of trying and testing new products, whilst shopping in Boots a few months ago my eyes were drawn to a product by Tresemmé named Split Remedy and this review discusses my experience with using. Despite the packaging of the majority of Tresemmé products being fairly appealing to the eye, it is not a brand that I regularly purchase although I have bought their shampoos and conditioners on a few occasions. It was the appearance of the product together with its marketing claims that lured me into my purchase where we are informed that the masque is described as a "reconstructing complex" and will offer "intense recovery". We are provided with 300 ml of product, which is contained within a sturdy plastic opaque tub with an easy to open vivid green coloured screw top lid. As with the majority of hair masques that I have used, the white coloured contents offer a creamy texture, which enables easy application to the hair. Whilst many brands offer a considerably feminine fragrance, deeming them unsuitable for male consumers, Split Remedy offers a considerably refreshing aroma and whilst there are no ingredients to such the scent, I am able to witness a delicate hint of apple although my husband would disagree. The directions for use displayed on the reverse of the tub are distinguished by five easy to follow steps although I would advise that the text is fairly small. In order to obtain the best results, any excess water should be squeezed from the hair with the product being applied from the mid length with extra attention being given to the tips. The masque should be evenly distributed with the aid of a wide toothed comb although I must admit that I carry out this step with my fingers where I am easily able to remove any tangles or knots. It is at this stage that I am generally able to determine if a conditioning product will be effective, as my fingers will not effortlessly glide through my hair if the product is inferior. The refreshing and uplifting fragrances deepens as the masque is applied, which I found extremely favourable and as directed, I waited for the allotted three to five minutes before rinsing away. I have previously used a few brands of hair masque in the past, which require significant rinsing, but I would describe the rinsing process in relation to this product identical to that of rinsing away a normal conditioner, as it takes only a couple of minutes. As I regularly use similar products, my hair is in good condition although from experience, I am fully aware that an ineffective product would cause my split ends to return. However, I was extremely happy with the results, as my hair offered a silky smooth texture with the tips not displaying any sign of split ends or frizz. Tresemmé claim that the product will offer an 80% reduction to split ends after just three uses although this is difficult for me to evidence with my hair being in a good condition due to my continued use of similar products. However, as previously stated, if I use an inferior product, my split ends will return, so I am of the opinion that the masque lives up to its claim. Despite my hair being silky soft and smooth following twice weekly use, it is very lightweight and as a result, I am able to style as normal and I love the fact that the gorgeous aroma lingers for a few hours afterwards. As I speak highly of Dove products, I didn't believe I would find a strong contender, but Tresemmé Split Remedy has far exceeded my expectations and as a result, I will not hesitate in making a further purchase. As my hair is long and thick I needed to use a large dollop with the 300 ml tub providing me with approximately ten uses. The masque is widely available with the best price being at Boots and whilst it normally retails at £5.69, there is currently a three for two mix and match promotion across selected hair care, vitamins and cosmetics. Due to the reasons discussed above, I can award nothing less than five stars together with a high recommendation. I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading. Read the complete review |

Tresemme Vitamin C Deep Cleansing Shampoo
by InchyInchy Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo I have been using Tresemme products for a while now and I have found that although their products are not quite as good as some true saloon shampoos and conditioners that I have tried, they are far better than a lot of other shampoo brands available on the supermarket ... shelves. Personally, I always seem to have a bit of a temperamental scalp and certain shampoos can really irritate my skin and not completely clean my hair, more often than not certain supermarket brand shampoos and conditioners don't agree with me, or I can only use them for a short period of time before I need to switch on to something else. However, with the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo I have found that I can use it repeatedly for weeks at a time without any signs of an irritated scalp. In fact, apart from Lush's own brand of shampoos the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo is a default shampoo purchase in our household. The shampoo itself has a reasonably thick, clear and an almost gel like texture and appearance about it. I have found that you don't need to use much of the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo to get a good and substantial lather, even for slightly longer hair. Unlike some of my favourite shampoos the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo doesn't have too much of an overly heavy fragrance about it. However, it does have a light clean and slightly fruity scent that is pleasant. It is also a pretty unisex smell and with the unisex packaging this is a shampoo that doesn't only have me reaching for it, but also my husband too. After I have used the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo I do find that my hair is left feeling clean, soft and generally in great condition. I have quite easy going hair, but I do think that the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo is not overly harsh so would suit quite a lot of people and not just someone looking for a deep cleansing. In fact I do think that the name of the shampoo is a little misleading because personally I would expect a deep cleansing shampoo to be something that you might use infrequently and when I have the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo in the the bathroom I more or less use it on a daily basis. Personally, I do tend to buy the larger bottles because I like the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo and I prefer having the 900 ml bottles in the bathroom because they do last us for quite a while. However, if you want to try this without investing in such a large bottle it is available in smaller quantities. The packaging for Tresemme is simple but stylish and the bottle comes in the trademark black bottle with green highlights to signal that this is the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo and not any other variety. I recently stocked up on quite a few Tresemme products in a recent four for £10 special offer at Asda's, but the individual bottles of Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo usually retails for around £3. Definitely not hair saloon prices but then I'm not convinced its a rival for saloon products. This shampoo gets a four out of five stars from me. I tend to go back and buy the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo time after time, it leaves my hair in great condition and it won't break the bank or at least the monthly bathroom shopping budget. If you haven't tried the Tresemme vitamin C deep cleansing shampoo then I really do recommend it. Read the complete review |
