Advantages: Gives a bit of shine
Disadvantages: Makes hair a bit hard
Trevor Sorbie spray
I have very frizzy hair and it really can't be presumed that I can dry it and then have shiny and more to the point vaguely straight locks.
So, being ever hopeful and a sucker for any products which might be able to help me, I have been giving these straightening addict products a whirl.
What does it do?
The product is designed to tame and smooth unruly hair and keep frizz at bay. It will apparently nourishes and protect hair, and form a shield between your hair and your straighteners, for a sleek, and most importantly for me, straight style.
It certainly sounds like this is exactly what I need.
Product and Packaging
This is a pump action product and comes in a pale pink 200ml bottle, although as the product is used, it is obvious that the bottle is clear but the product makes it look pink.
The product itself is clear so my hair doesn't turn pink, and when I spray it, it does come out in a fine mist and smells slightly like hair spray. However, the smell isn't strong and it soon leaves your hair. When I read a bit about the product, it does apparently give medium hold to your hair, so that's probably why it smells a bit like hair spray.
How to use it...
Lightly spray all sections of hair before using straighteners. The product can also be used after straightening to boost shine, and this is when I usually use it in an attempt to get a bit of glossiness.
Price and availability
The product is available in supermarkets and chemists and can be bought online at www.trevorsorbie.com. The website also has lots of information about all the products and offers discounts. It costs £4.99 for 200ml
Verdict
The product sprays lightly onto my hair in a fine mist so thankfully I am not left with clumps of hair spray type product.
It does seem to protect my hair a bit when I use the straighteners as the product seems to absorb some of the heat. However, because it has a bit of the hair spray type product in it, and gives hair hold, I think my hair is quite stiff when I take the straighteners away and it doesn't feel quite a s soft as it should!
I prefer using it after I have straightened my hair because it does add a bit of shine to my hair but again with that slight hardness which I am not sure I like.
The product is sold in small travel size bottles, which I would advise people to try out. It does give some shine and protects hair, but if you are like me and just used to serum then the hair spray effect could be too much!
Thanks for reading.

- 29/09/08 I picked up a travel sized freebie in Boots (an advantage card offer). I quite liked it but didn't go back to buy any more...my thoughts were very similar to yours. |
