Advantages: Lovely and girlie looking, nice smell, nourishing, great shampoo

Disadvantages: Bit pricey but it does work so worth it

I have a bit of a thing for trying lots of different shampoos at the moment, so when I had the chance to get a free trial size of this shampoo I jumped at the chance. I have never tried any Trevor Sorbie products before, so I didn't know what to expect, or even if I would like it. I tried this for the first time this weekend, and a few times since so I have made sure I have used it enough to give it a fair review.

This is one of the growing trend of designer hair care products on the market at the moment. Trevor Sorbie is a famour hairdresser who has a salon in Convent Garden, London, and a vast range of hair care products. He was awarded British Hairdresser of the Year 4 times, and has also received an MBE. He is also a pioneer in terms of wigs and styling, and has set up a network called "My New Hair" for those who suffer with hair loss.

Now this product is part of Sorbie's hair care range, which is called "Straightening Addict". The range is for people who regularly use hair dryers and straightening irons to keep their hair straight and sleek looking. This shampoo claims to be able to Protect, repair and replace moisture into your hair that all the heat of your appliances does to it. It is quite an extensive range but I will list the other products further down.

The shampoo comes in a very attractive looking bottle, and is very girly looking, so not much good for you men out there who straighten your hair! It comes in a clear plastic bottle, with the Trevor Sorbie logo in bright red on the bottle, with a slanted lid with a grey sticket with the Sorbie name and logo as well. The range name is under the logo on the bottle. The shampoo itself is a gorgeous bright pink colour, I can't say I have ever used a pink shampoo before! To use, simply unscrew the lid and squeeze the bottle to push the shampoo out through the spout. I would prefer a pump or something, but the design works okay and the shampoo is easily dispensed and doesn't leak.

It does smell really lovely, quite fruity and sweet, which is very nice. I didn't need to use too much on my hair, as I find that it foams up very easily and is easy to move right throughout your hair. When I rinsed it out of my hair, I found my hair felt really clean and soft and tangle free, even though I hadn't used any conditioner on it at all. I was pretty impressed by this point and eager to see how it would affect my hair when it was dried.

I used my usual hair dryer and paddle brush to dry it and was supremely impressed straight away! After my hair was completely dried, it was soft, shiny and felt really healthy. It didn't feel at all dry or coarse, it felt really nourished, like the intense heat from my dryer hadn't affected it at all. My hair wasn't too knotty either, and even on the second day my hair was still soft and smooth. Very impressive!

Ingredients and what they do (from the TS website):
18 methyl eicosanoic acid - a lipid that is the key to natural shine
Benzophenone 3 or 4 - a water soluble filter that absorbs UV light which can cause colour fade and breakdown of the hair's natural structure
Panthenol - pro Vitamin B5 which improves shine
Phytantriol - works with Panthenol to enhance conditioning effect
Polyquaternium 7 - Film forming polymer that gives condition to the hair by smoothing the cuticles
Polyquaternium-10 - conditioning film-forming polymer that gives body by smoothing the cuticles

You can buy this in 2 different sizes. The larger bottle as shown in the picture above contains 250ml of shampoo, and costs me £4.49 in my local Boots store, quite good value as I expect it to last a while. You can also buy a "to go" size, which contains 75 of shampoo, probably enough for a week's use for me and costs £1.59 in Boots. These are great for when you are going on holiday and can't take your giant bottle with you.

So my overall opinion is that this is a very good value for money nourishing shampoo for your hair, especially great for people who like to straighten their hair a lot. This will really look after your hair, infusing it with lots of moisture and protecting it from the heat of your hairdryer. My hair stays nice and soft and shiny, and it smells lovely as well. Brilliant, I was so impressed that I have now purchased a big bottle of the stuff!

Other products in the Straightening Addict Range:
