Advantages: Brilliant at giving effortless results time and time again

Disadvantages: Not good on greasy hair at all

I work really, really hard on getting my hair looking as good as it can possibly be. It's naughty hair with lots of issues. It's currently resting just below my shoulder blades, is dyed jet black and loves to be curly. However getting it looking nice and curly and without frizz is near on impossible so I actually find it easier to whack on my hair straighteners on 220c and use lots of products and I get a reasonable result straight. It's just a bit easier and I'm a lazy bones to be honest lol

However I use alot and own alot of straightening products and I struggle to find anything really good that lives up to the claims that they usually have made about them, hence me parting with my money to own them. Doesn't matter how much or how little I spend it takes a lot of work to not only 'help' diminish frizz but I have an awful cows lick that loves to put in an appearance at any given moment. I can spend ages on getting my hair looking as perfect as possible for it only to turn into a nightmare half way through a lovely night and/or partying! My hair hates humidity, due to said frizz so you can see my problems. I know I'm not alone in my struggle! I'm sure your reading this identifying a lot of my issues! Don't get me started on split and straggly ends, greasy roots etc I could be here all day! My hair really can make me very miserable indeed!

The Packaging....

Well the full 150ml size is a cylinder shape and is recyclable. It's pump action and tells you clearly on the front what it is and who it's by. Being totally honest with you I have never bought the full size £4.99 (in Boots) as I had the option to buy the sample size for £1.79 for 30ml so I could try it out and buy the larger size at a later date if it was any good so I wouldn't waste my money and/or product.

So my sample size is as I have said 30ml in size and is a clear plastic recyclable tube that opens at the bottom with a matching lid that screws on and off securely. On the front I'm told it is Trevor Sorbie and that it's Straightening addict, Smoothing Balm, (unique protection complex) and under that it says the word straight. Then there are some red and pink lines on the front. On the back I'm told a bit about the product, directions for use, ingredients, size is stated a bar-code is on there and finally contact details for Trevor Sorbie are given.

A bit about the product....

Moisturising balm calms & tames frizz prone hair, leaving it straight, silky smooth & frizz free.

Directions....

Use on damp hair. Work a generous amount through hair in downward strokes from root to tip. Blow dry using a paddle brush. For even greater gloss, spritz with Straightening Addict Protect, Flatten & Shine Spray. Avoid contact with eyes.

Using It....

Well I use mine after washing and conditioning and on towel dried and combed through hair. I use about the amount of a 50p. Personally having slightly greasy roots I miss them out as experience of this product has shown me this really doesn't help greasy hair at all. It turns my roots into an oil slick if I put any on. The rest of my hair, particularly the dry bits are fine with it however and I smooth it through the rest.

Now if I blow dry my hair without continuously brushing or combing it I get ringlets as I have, as I mentioned earlier curly hair. It defines my hair and banishes frizz and then I whack on my straighteners. However for best results I follow the products instructions to the letter. I gently smooth some down my hair and then blow dry on a medium heat gently brushing with my paddle brush as I go and helping to tease it straight.

The balm isn't what I expected at all. When I splodge some of the product onto my fingers to apply it is a clear but light gel. None sticky and of a quite runny consistency making it very easy to spread it through my hair. As I dry my hair I can feel a slight sticky effect at first but as you blow dry it it loses that feeling totally you just have to make sure you dry it to the maximum.

Hair just after drying this way is considerably straighter but not at all lifeless or dull. It feels extremely soft to the touch and not like you imagine it to feel after using a gel like product. Hair smells slightly fruity to my nasal passages but not very strong or offensive in any way and for this reason anyone can use it. It's just light and fresh and the smell vanishes completely after a few minutes.

Along with the lovely silky feel to the hair most of my frizz (just through blow drying) is eradicated. My hair feel feels bouncy but unfluffy and slightly controlled though as I said already not one bit sticky. If you shake you hair gently side to side no fly-aways are visible and hair kind of falls as a layer without being glued up and stays looking very natural indeed.

Of course for most of us blow drying isn't enough and for me I continue after recieving very pleasing results with my hair straighteners. It is alot easier to straighten my hair after using this product than normal. My straighteners glide through my hair and it takes less time to get a perfect look.

Results....

Straight hair of course! Poker straight and with no frizz at all! What's more is that it stays that way even if you have a habit (as I do of touching hair) it can take that. I get no curls or a cowlick putting in an appearance. Hair feels so silky and soft and just well... very comfortable really. Frizz is gone through styling and stays gone and humidity doesn't effect my hair after using this so my hair stays looking brilliant even in a hot, sweaty night club so no straggly ends or fly-aways. Hair not only feels natural and looks it, it shines in a satin smooth way. Not blinging and not fake this is perfect to give you results and to use any time you want to.

I'm a huge fan of this product as it is simple and unfussy to use. The only word of warning I give is if you have greasy hair I don't think this would be for you as it gives my roots problems but my dry frizzy hair that could do with a little drink and some hydration... perfect! The best thing to do in my view is to give the sample size a go first and although mine is a small tube I've had about 8 uses out of it so economical it is whether you buy it large or small! Brilliant find and will buy again!

Summary: Gives me gorgeous, natural feeling straight hair that gives me confidence
