“ Brand: Trevor Sorbie / Hair Styling Products / Firm Hold / 25mL. / Type: Styling Spray / Subcategory: Styling Products „
I think I'm going to continue with my Trevor Sorbie theme today as Ive just found a lot of products from his range on the database that I own and have not reviewed and so I thought Id write them while all the information is still in my mind - it doesn't stay there for to long believe me haha. This "Trevor Sorbie Hair Spray Extra Hold" is another product I got as part of a set for my birthday earlier this year and even though I love the range for some reason Ive only just got around to starting to use this as for some reason I thought it was just a normal shine spray - I don't pay too much attention to packaging obviously!
Now hairspray is something I use on a daily basis even though I don't wear my hair in a up style that often so I basically use it to create much more volume and height to my hair so I do use a lot of it over time. That in turn means I have tried out a lot of different brands but when it comes down to it with hairspray price doesn't matter because they are all basically the same and do the same thing - oh and they all stink! But this one is slightly different.
Price: Around £2 - £3 for a 25ml bottle - I don't think its available any bigger than that.
Stockists: Boots & Amazon
For: To hold styles in place without stickiness or making your hair to hard, keep the hair flexible and adds shine & brushes out straight away. Another added extra in this is that is claims not to have that harsh, chemical smell that I normally associate with hairspray.
The bottle this is contained in is very small but that makes it perfect for use on the go or taking away with you so although the bottle will be finished quicker it does have advantages. Rather than being in an aerosol type can this has a little push down nozzle at the top like perfume and sprays out in squirts rather than a mist so beware too much will give you the hard haired look everyone is desperate to avoid.
This does smell so much better than your average hairspray though in all fairness. This one smells really fruity and sweet with only a slight whiff of that chemical scent - nowhere near as strong as regular hairspray though. The smell wears off after about 2 hours but I wasn't expecting it to last as long as the effects did I wasn't to bothered.
Now positive things about this definitely outweigh the negatives so Ill start with those. In an up style this does hold it in place perfectly through the whole day - about 6 hours before you need a quick reapplication so that's very good I reckon, it doesn't give you the hard haired look at all and it is very easy to brush out when you no longer want the style in. So overall it is very good but I do have one slight problem.
It is very sticky. Especially when you first apply - even if you do it far enough from your hair and it remains that way for a good half hour afterwards. It does calm down after a while but it is really nasty to begin with and that makes it hard to create volume in your hair with it. It does not look good either at first let me tell you! But apart from that I really do like this spray and I would use it again should someone buy it for me - not too sure whether Id rush out to buy a bottle myself though. I'm going to leave the recommendation out - make up your minds on this one!
Id use it again but I don't think Id buy it. Thanks for reading.

Trevor Sorbie Firm Hold Hairspray
**WHAT IT IS**
It is a firm hold hairspray which claims to have a unique protection complex. It claims to hold a style firmly and flexibly even in humid conditions.
It has a unique anti-oxidant complex and UV filter. This is to help protect your hair from heat and environmental damage.
It comes a see through bottle which you can see the clear hairspray inside. It has a plastic see through nozzle on the top. The bottle itself is waterproof and durable.
On the front it has the Trevor Sorbie logo in grey. There are swirls in blue and green. It also tells you that the product is Firm Hold Hairspray.
On the back it gives you more detailed information in black writing. This includes the ingredients and the Trevor Sorbie website.
The hairspray itself is clear in colour and has a pleasant enough smell for a hairspray.
The nozzle it has is good as it means that you don't end up having to put lots of hairspray on if you don't want to, I find with other products this is the case and is rather annoying.
It doesn't leave a heavy feel on your hair, which is nice, however it does hold your style in place.
How to use: style your hair as usual and spray the hairspray approximately 15cm away from your hair for a very firm hold or 25cm away for a lighter hold.
To remove the hairspray you can either brush it out or if you have too much on you can wash it out.
For a 50ml bottle of this hairspray it cost £1.20 from boots. I think this is slightly expensive but I do feel that it is worth that little bit extra.
This however is a very small bottle and wont last overly long. I suppose it all depends how often you use hairspray. It does mean that the bottle is very compact and will fit into your handbag so you can bring it with you easily anywhere if you want.
Personally I quite like the smell of this hairspray as it is different from others. It has a fresher smell and doesn't as strong smell as other hairsprays. As I am currently pregnant smells are annoying me a lot and this hairspray works a lot better than others.
It does exactly what it says for my type of hair, which is, thin and fine. It holds your hair in place yet it isn't very stiff looking as your hair is free to move. I find it hard to get a hairspray, which doesn't leave my hair feeling clumped together. I would buy this hairspray again and would recommend it to anyone especially people who have thin hair.
I have always been reluctant to buy 'premium' range hair products, as from past experience many of them are no better than their cheaper counterparts. However, I had been on the hunt for a new hairspray that would hold my thick hair in place for more than ten minutes without it appearing greasy and limp. I saw this product on offer in my local Boots, so decided to give it a go. I followed their recommendation of washing and drying my hair beforehand, then applied the hairspray as directed. I was extremely impressed with the results- it felt very light in my hair, yet held the style in place perfectly. I remained sceptical, thinking the effects would wear off after an hour or so, but was pleasantly surprised. My style held all evening, and I received many compliments from people about my hair. A further plus point to this product is the ability to pop it into your bag without it taking up much room. Overall, a great new staple in my bathroom cabinet.
I was staying in a hotel and found they only had the awful two in one shampoo and conditioner, uh oh! I had an event to go to the next day so popped down the the nearby Euton Station where they handily had a little Boots. The mini travel size products were on a 3 for 2 offer so I picked up some shampoo and conditioner and found a great product! I did some hair modeling for Trevor Sorbie this year so am a fan of the brand but haven't checked out their products before, mainly due to habit and their higher price point.
This hairspray is more of a spritz. Liquid is pumped out rather than the drier spray from a can. I often curl my hair so gel spray is really great, but I haven't came across one that I've loved and often use hairspray too, because it is finer and less noticeable. So this product ticked a few boxes.
I've had this since Friday (it's now it's Wednesday, and have used it on 3 days to set my curls, and the bottle is about a third gone, so don't expect it to last too long! Of course this is only a mini size and I use quite a liberal amount, so if you used it daily, it may last about two weeks, which is pretty good for a product that is handbag size.
It really bugs me when pump bottles have a huuuge spray so it not only goes on your hair, but your surfaces and floor. But this pump gives just the right amount of spray so you can control the areas you want to cover.
The smell is chemically, but not unpleasant, and leaves the tiniest trace of smell on your hair, which is great! You don't want to walk around smelling like a chemicals instead of your perfume ;)
Unlike hairspray, this doesn't turn your hair to straw, and unlike gell, it doesn't harden it. It is light enough to be in a happy medium of the two and gives great hold without weighing the hair down.
A great bonus is that it has UV protection and anti-oxidants, so it plays a part in shielding the hair from sunlight and polution.
Here is another one of my purchases from er, yes you guessed it Boots! lol
My word how my points are mounting up my card lately and my bank account is shrinking!
My bottle Of Trevor Sorbie Professional Firm Hold Spray, 200ml looks very different to the one shown on the above photo but on a bit of rooting around it is the same product. What happened is that it cost me 50p cos it was on a bargain shelf as its one from before they changed the packaging! So for once I grabbed a bargain lol
I'm told by the lady in Boots that this is the one to be found in discount shops and the likes as they've changed to the clear bottle to appeal to men and women where as this one isn't very girly at all!
Dark red bottle. Silver writing telling me who it is by and what it is. Some thick silver stripes which are still the logo on all the Trevor Sorbie products. Pump action clear plastic sprayer with a clear plastic push on lid. On the back of the product it tells me what it will do, how to use it and ingredients.

As I have stated in previous reviews on hair products I hate hairsprays and the thought of it but at the moment my hair is in such good condition that's it so silky as I'm using Lee Stafford Products that it wont hold in a simple pony tail and I do get fly aways and I need my hair cut to rid the split ends but am leaving it till it gets a bit longer. As this was cheap I thought I'd give it a go!
I don't like the smell at all its none descript and sweet but smells like an old fashioned hairspray! I got a bit on my hands and it was like super glue so I thought oh well least it will work eh I need some stiffness to my hair that's why I purchased it so this is gonna work!
Well! I sprayed on a light mist. Hard job in itself with one hand styling my hair and the other trying to pump the spray out! It gave no control and a rather grotty feeling to my hair.
What happened is the layers it hit it 'glued' together so my hair had 'flaps' I could lift. The rest nothing at all! I tried to tame my slightly frizzy bits around my ears and it just defined them even more. I was not a happy bunny. In short I rinsed the product out and conditioned and fair play it came out easy enough but the product hit the bin.
I wouldn't touch this again its a waste of cash! I wouldn't know if it conditioned and moisturised my hair as I couldn't possibly leave it on as I couldn't get past the gunky feeling I had with this product on my head. How it would tackle humidity I just don't know! A really awful product I hated on every level. It's just yuk!
£4.99 in Boots.
