Advantages: Keeps your hair wrapped in place
Disadvantages: Thin material gets soaked far too quickly with thick hair, it isn't long enough for longer styles
When I first came across the Turbie Twist, I thought it was a brilliant idea. My mum had a go with one and though it was great as it not only fitted the shape of her upside down hair, it could be secured with a little elastic loop at the back, so unlike your normal towel it can't take on a life of it's own and start coming undone, getting in your face, etc.
All brilliant. Until I tried it. At the time my hair was longer than my mothers - hers was shoulder length, mine was a few inches longer. My hair is also considerably thicker than mums. It's heavy at the best of times, so when it's wet it will completely saturate a hand towel within a few minutes.
Needless to say, the Turbie Twist was soaked when wrapped round my freshly washed hair. It's 'one size fits all' approach, was also no good for my hair as it wasn't long enough which meant that the ends of my hair were poking out of the end of the Turbie Twist. I tried folding my hair up into it, but I still wasn't getting good coverage from it as this just increased the thickness of the hair...
In all, I think it's a great idea, but the Turbie Twist people should really think about different hair types and styles and cater for these adequately - they would get a lot more business if they did!
Summary: I'd buy one if I could get it in a longer size and made with thicker material!
