“ Brand: Umberto Giannini / Type: Hair Mask / Subcategory: Hair Treatment / What it does: Repairs, „
I have tried and tried many different hair conditioning masks from many different brands. I was never completely impressed and surprised with any of the results from them though until I came across Umberto Giannini's Intense Shine Conditioning mask.
I usually get lots of hair products in gift sets around Christmas time and it takes some time to work my way through them all and I have only recently got round to using this one. I have never tried many of Umberto Giannini's products, from what I remember I have only used mini shampoo and conditioners for curly hair, but if I really like a product I am not afraid to try out others by that brand. As I have never went out and bought anything myself by this brand, I have always received them as gifts, I was not really expecting much from this product.
The purpose of this product is to turn dull hair into dazzling, with their clever hi-tech ingredients they target damaged areas and adhere to hair strands for a weekly pamper session of dazzling shine and intense moisture. You only need to apply this around once a week, but I sometimes apply it twice a week if I feel my hair is very dull that week! I do straighten it a lot and so it becomes very dry so I do need to use a product like this often to add some shine back in my hair.
It states to apply evenly to damp hair, leave for 3-5 minutes and rinse thoroughly. It also states the longer the mask is left on the better! Therefore, I often leave this on for longer than 5 minutes. I apply this after shampoo and conditioning my hair. I wasn't sure whether to apply my usual conditioner on before this or whether to leave it out completely and use this as a replacement. I decided to use both as this is what I have done with products like this in the past, and hoped that my hair wouldn't look greasy in the end.
You only need to apply a small amount, I use about the size of a 2p coin and I have medium length hair. If I use a smaller amount then it doesn't cover all of my hair evenly.
After washing this off and then drying and straightening my hair like I usually do, I could notice a difference straight away. My hair seemed to be more glossy and healthy looking, and not greasy at all. I was afraid that it may look glossy after using normal conditioner before this and then leaving it on for longer than five minutes, but I think it made this product work even better on my hair! I definitely recommend leaving this on for slightly longer than five minutes and I have always done this since I started using this, except for when I have been in a hurry.
My boyfriend even complimented my hair and said it looks extra shiny, then asked if I had using something different in my hair! I was very pleased with the result and the fact that other people had noticed my hair looking shinier and more healthy made me believe it even more.
This exact bottle is no longer available from Boots, where the gift set I got it from was from. This is due to Umberto Giannini changing the look of their bottles. Therefore I would not go out looking for the bright yellow bottle that you see in the picture. It is now in a white/gold tub and called Indulgent beauty moisture mask, but it is the same product. It is available from Boots for £5.61 for 200ml. I have not seen this product available from anywhere else and the Umberto Giannini website leads you to the Boots website so their products may be exclusive to Boots. You can alternatively buy their products on eBay but I found after postage costs it is around the same price.
After using the product, I am now keen to try out other other products by this brand and will certainly stick to this conditioning mask and will buy it again once my bottle has ran out. I think £5.61 is a small price to pay considering how long 200ml will last. I have more than half of the bottle left and have been using it since Christmas.
Umberto Giannini is a haircare range by the late hairdesser of the same name, and is known for its distinctive bottle designs. The dazzling shine range is great for dull hair that needs a bit of sparkle, as it moisturises and makes hair shiny without making it heavy as some others might. The Intense Shine conditioning mask is part of this range, and is great to use once a week to get your hair in great condition.
The product comes in a bright yellow shiny tube, with the lid on the bottom, and silver lettering at the top. The product itself is a shimmery, white, creamy substance.
I apply it after shampooing, and it feels really good on your hair. You can feel it making your hair smoother staright away, and it just feels really soft. It smells really good, it smells like a normal shampoo smell but gorgeous, it's really difficult to describe it! But it's lovely. It says to leave it on for 3-5 words, but it also says the longer its left on the better. I like to comb it through then leave it on overnight, if you've never done this before, you'll be actually amazed at how soft your hair will be!
When its been washed off and your hair is dry, it should be really, really soft, and shiny! It's moisturising enough for really dry hair, but not too heavy for normal hair. My hair feels like silk to the touch after using this, and is amazingly shiny, I love it!
This isn't suitable for people with hair that gets greasy easily, but for everyone else it's great, I highly recommend it. It's as good as some premium products I've tried, and is much cheaper (it's around £6-£7). If you have dull hair in need of some tlc, I'd recommend this. I hope this was helpful, thanks for reading!
