As I state in most of my reviews, it''''s rare I try out new products that aren''''t either heat defence spray or normal hairspray because my hair is so long and thick, that it''''s rare any other products make much of a difference at all.
I received this shampoo and conditioner for Christmas and had not previously seen it. I had previously used Umberto Giannini shampoos and conditioners that I had really liked, and I know they aren''''t exactly cheap so I looked forward to trying this shampoo and conditioner. First if all it smelt absolutely lovely and is one of those conditioners that you hope leaves a strong scent in your hair because it''''s so nice. Having used the shampoo which was like a see through glittery texture, the conditioner was white and moisturiser kind of texture. It went through my hair well and washed out nicely too. On drying my hair I could smell it was lovely. Once my hair was dry I was pleased with this conditioner, it had made my hair soft and smooth and really shiny.
The only thing I hate about this shampoo and conditioner is the bottle. It wouldn''''t matter so much if you are in the bath but I find these bottles impossible for use in the shower! Once you take off the big silver lid and put the shampoo or conditioner in your hand, there''''s no way your getting the lid back on quickly and so you have to put it down on the floor - in which I went on to kick it over and waste loads of the product.
I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone but just be careful when using the bottle! :)
I tend not to stick to the same shampoos and conditioners and like to try a variety of different brands. Therefore when I go shopping to places like Boots and Superdrug and there are offers on these types of products I really can't help myself but buy "something new". On a recent shopping trip I was looking for shampoo (and conditioner) that I could fit in my travel bag as we were going to visit Mr Lools' parents. I noticed when browsing the aisles of Boots that the Umberto Giannini hair care range had a 3 for 2 offer on it so I was straight over to investigate. The packaging met the "transportable" criteria therefore I found myself with a bottle of shampoo and two bottles of conditioner which included Umberto Giannini Lustrous Shine Conditioner.
*** Umberto Giannini Lustrous Shine Conditioner***
The conditioner is described as "a universal moisturizer that detangles and smoothes hair leaving a luminous and light reflecting shine."
As my hair is quite dry due to it being regularly highlighted I do find I tend to opt for conditioners which offer high shine and moisture.
The conditioner comes in a 250ml bottle. This is a long thin circular tube like bottle with a screw off shiny silver lid. The bottle itself is a light yellow colour with silver font .
This fit my "transportable" criteria as in my opinion the lid felt secure. The design of the bottle also meant that because it is long and slim it easily fits in my wash bag. Obviously for shorter overnight trips you may find you want a more compact very small travel sized shampoo. Umberto Giannini do offer a 50ml sized bottle of the shampoos and conditioners and the Lustrous Shine Conditioner is available in this size also.
Lustrous Shine Conditioner is available from Boots stores and online. You can also purchase this conditioner from Amazon. A 250ml bottle from Boots costs £4.89. Because the conditioner comes from a "salon quality" brand it does carry a higher price tag. However when included in a 3 for 2 hair care offer it does make it more affordable and I feel three bottles of "salon quality" shampoos and conditioners for £11.00 is good value. You can also purchase the 50ml sized bottle of this conditioner for £1.99 from Boots.
The directions for use are "Apply a small amount to hair after shampooing. Work evenly through and rinse thoroughly."
After shampooing my hair (with the shampoo from the Umberto Giannini Spa Rituals range) I then applied this conditioner to my hair. Lustrous Shine Conditioner has a very sweet fruity scent to it which reminds me of sweets or hard candy. It does not have an overpowering scent though.
My main criticism during application is the design of the bottle. The tube shaped bottle does not have a standard dispenser type design where you squeeze product out of the bottle you need to tip it out of the neck of the bottle which is about the size of a 5p coin. With wet hands and if you are in a shower with no ledge to rest the bottle or lid or there is the potential for spillage. Because the neck of the bottle is quite wide if you do not take care you could pour out too much conditioner. The conditioner is quite thick but if you did knock the bottle over you would spill and waste the conditioner.
The conditioner is a creamy yellow colour and is quite thick in its consistency so it does not slip off your hands. Once applied to your hair it does rub in and spread very easily. I have thick hair which reaches half way down my back and I use about a 50p sized amount of this conditioner. The scent is very strong and sweet as you rub the conditioner all over your hair. When rubbed into your hair the conditioner has quite a slippy greasy feel to it and makes wet hair feel very smooth and silky.
The conditioner is easy to rinse out of hair, however once rinsed I did feel my hair had a very slight feeling that my hair had a coating on it. My wet hair felt quite slippery and silky. I could feel this as I blow dried my hair however once it was dry this feeling of residue had completely disappeared.
My hair felt extremely silky and soft and my previous coarse feeling dry hair had gone after the first use of this conditioner. Instead of my hair feeling rough it was a lot smoother when I ran my hands through it and was completely tangle free.
The condition of my hair also looked improved. The conditioner delivered a very shiny look to it and the shine emphasised my highlights rather than my hair having a flat colour. My hair looked very smooth and soft even at the ends which were particularly dry.
I was extremely surprised that although my hair was given "high shine" the conditioner did not make it overly greasy or the feeling of it being weighed down by sticky residue. I was able to wash my hair every other day as my hair did not go lank or greasy after using this conditioner whereas with many conditioners that offer this I need to wash my hair daily.
As a daily use conditioner I have found this to be very effective as the product gives great shine but does not leave a residue on hair or build up on hair that can weigh it down.
This is a great conditioner for those that want shiny, healthy soft looking hair with a sweet fresh scent on a daily basis without hair suffering a build-up of product. As a daily conditioner because of the "salon brand" it does come with a salon price tag but when bought on special offer it is a more value for money conditioner.
It is also a very economical conditioner as a small amount of product goes a long way and a 250ml bottle of this conditioner lasts at least 4 weeks on my long thick hair. Great for dry colour treated hair like mine which lacks shine.
