Advantages: Smells Gorgeous

Disadvantages: Makes your hair limp and greasy, doesn't spread through evenly, needing washed straight away.

In my seemingly never ending quest to find a product that is consistently good at hydrating my hair thus weighing it down in the process and making it behave itself instead of flicking out here there and everywhere and being a total fly away pain in the butt, I stumbled across this - Umberto Giannini Overnight Moisture Balm - in Boots, and although I was tempted to go for the bigger tube (more economical), it turned out that it was a wise move not to.

~~~~The Product~~~~
According to Boots website "Umberto Giannini Overnight Beauty Moisture Balm is a night cream for your hair. This twilight trichology will work its magic whilst you catch up on some well-earned sleep." Magic? What Magic is all I can say! If the trick is to transform your locks in to a greasy "I've just dipped my head into some chip fat" state then David Copperfield eat your heart out!
It does however smell gorgeous, a very fresh baby lotion like smell.
It comes in two sizes, a 50ml travel size for £1.75 and a 150ml tube for £4.99.
~~~~Application~~~~

Apply evenly to dry hair overnight, no need to rinse. Easier said than done. If you try to spread it evenly through your hair with just your fingers, it's not as easy as you might think. It just claggs together in one lump, and makes it very hard to spread, infact, it makes you look like you're recreating a certain scene out of There's Something about Mary if you know what I mean!

Application onto a comb first and then applied through the hair that way might be an easier way of ensuring it is spread evenly.

~~~~My Experience~~~~
You've already heard part of it in the application process above! Here's the rest of it.
So with the product applied as evenly as I could possibly get it to go, I plonked on a shower cap (oh yeah, I was a site to behold as you can imagine!) to protect my pillows and also because I thought it might aid the absorption of it without it having a chance to wipe off on my pillow cases, and went to bed dreaming of luscious locks in the morning....not really, but I had high hopes for it!
"Rise and Shine" I did (after a couple of coffees!) but my hair did not, the product hadn't absorbed properly and it was still sitting on the surface of my hair making it sticky, damp and limp, not good, especially as I didn't have time to wash it again before work, I had no choice but to go into work with the greasiest hair ever, seriously, like previously mentioned, it looked like it had been dunked in a vat of chip fat and instead of feeling smooth and silky it felt the greasiest I had ever felt it, I couldn't wait to get home that night and wash it all out.
~~~~Conclusion~~~~

I should point out that my hair does tend to edge towards being more greasy than dry, (although it is quite dry and fly away on the ends) so perhaps it is just my hair type and maybe it would benefit from the product just being applied to the ends? Although it does state on the tube that it is suitable for all hair types, I feel it would be more beneficial to dry coarse curly hair than greasier, fly-a-way straight hair.
I'm glad I just purchased the smaller tube to try it out and unless you know for sure that you like it I feel that it is the best way to proceed because if I'd bought the bigger tube, I'd now be left with yet another beauty product sitting there unused and yet more money down the drain, so I guess it's a good job that these travel sized ones are available.

Summary: Glad I only bought the travel size.

I'm really surprised - I love Umberto Giannini but I've not tried this one and I don't think I will now!
