I like to use a heat protection spray on my hair as I regularly straighten it, and although I can never tell if the sprays are actually working, using them makes me feel a lot less guilty about using so much heat on my hair! I bought Umberto Giannini's Love it Straight heat protection mist simply because I had a voucher for money off the range and my last spray was running out.
