Advantages: Erm... can get back to you on that one?

Disadvantages: Everything it's dire

The one thing I always use and get through an awful lot of is hair conditioner. It's essential wear to me and when anyone says they don't use it or missed it out of their hair care routine I just think its darn stupid! I mean you wouldn't wash your clothes and then not use fabric softener surely even if it's just a two in one? lol

Personally I have no choice but to use hair conditioner. Any shampoo I use dries my hair out alot and I like to pour back in some softness, shine and hydration. Of course when I bought the Umberto Giannini Sleek & Chic Straightening Shampoo I bought the matching mini conditioner for £1.59 from Boot's to try with it. I always buy the corresponding conditioner to my shampoos as I'm proper fussy mainly about not mixing up smells although of course I do use an intensive conditioner once or twice a week with any shampoo I own.

I like to use straightening shampoos and conditioners. I do blow dry my hair and straighten with 220c irons every single day so I'd like a shampoo and conditioner not only helps eliminates frizz but makes my hair soft and hopefully easier to style.

The Packaging....

As I have stated already I have the matching shampoo and this was to use after it. I bought it in mini size as a trial but it is the same product in every way as the photograph at the top of this review but the one show is full size of course.

It's a 50ml purple coloured foil tube which opens at the bottom and is dispensed out of a small whole and it has a round, clear screw on/off lid. To dispense the product you have to squeeze the tube. On the front I'm told it is Umberto Giannini, Sleek and Chic Conditioner, Smooths with shine for all hair types and at the bottom the size is stated (as I've listed already. On the back I'm told what it should achieve, directions for use, contact details for Umberto Giannini, ingredients are listed, there is a white bar-code and at the bottom of the tube and I'm told 'Umberto Giannini Award Winning British Hairdressers'.

What It's Meant To Achieve....

So.... you want a frizz free life? The sleek & Chic regime is a revolutionary concept developed to give your hair that cool catwalk chic - straighter, smoother hair with great shine. It's simply amazing!

Directions For Use....

After shampooing apply conditioner evenly throughout the hair. Massage carefully by adding a little water. Rinse thoroughly for even smoother hair, style with the sleek & chic styling range.

Using It....

Well I've used this with the matching shampoo and then when I ran out of the shampoo I tried it with some Dove shampoo I already had in the bathroom. After using the matching shampoo (please read previous review) my hair was dried out and parched and just generally sad. So I used this hoping it would solve my hair issues.

The smell of the conditioner is even more vile than the shampoo and I didn't believe that this would be possible! It's like cheap aftershave with a chemical kind of undertone that you feel that the aftershave smell is trying to disguise. It's rotten and far too strong and made me feel really ill. It's quite a thin liquid in a pale lilac colour but don't get me wrong it isn't runny but I am used to thicker conditioners. Now I've used as told to and applied it to wet and damp hair and all the results are the same.

It does soften hair somewhat as you apply but it actually feels still thin and greasy and it does allow you to run fingers or a comb through straight away and you can't do that after using the matching shampoo on its own so this does do something.

The biggest problem for me is when I roughly dried my hair with a towel and tried to comb my it that I could hear the squeak and I could feel the comb tearing my hair out and I lost loads of it. When I ran my hand through my hair it felt lifeless and weighed down. Not deterred I dried my hair with my hairdryer on a cool setting till completely dry and hair still felt incredibly dry, my ends were very dry and bristly indeed and when I went to re-comb my hair, even though I had previously combed it and I'd gently dried my hair I still struggled to comb it again and more hair broke in my comb and came out. It was like malting season!

I've also used this as I said with different shampoos just to finish my tube off and the feeling is the same. It's just not a brilliant conditioner. The smell even when you've dried your hair is far too overpowering and no difference to styling is made whatsoever and I need the same amount of straightening products as usual and the same amount of time 'ironing' my hair.

My hair after time still pings up frizz (through drying some frizz is eradicated) no matter how much I style it before I go out and I still get a cows lick at the end of the night with a couple of kiss of curls lol

As for frizz it's definitely not banished completely. My hair after using this doesn't feel any softer than not using any conditioner at all as this really isn't as conditioning as I want or need.

Even if I put this on damp hair for a few minutes and use it as a itensive treatment I still get no better results. It's simply disappointing in every way shape and form.

Overall....

It's rubbish in a tube. My hair feels odd and clammy after using this and just not natural. I wouldn't bother if I was you cos in my experience is this never fulfilled even one promise. I didn't get straighter hair and hair wasn't smoother of shiner, in fact I feel like I lose plenty of shine using these products. Not recomended from me, surprisingly. This is overpriced tat and it stinks so bad I've had complaints! Never will I buy it again!

Summary: Rubbish, do not buy!
