Advantages: DESIGNER LABEL....
Disadvantages: A PUNGENT PONG!
A few months ago Boots had an offer on whereby you spent £5 on general products and received a £2 voucher off a range of hair care products including the designer name Umberto Giannini...
Not my usual brand of choice, however my eye was caught by a Spa Rituals product in his range called 'Overnight Magic Hair Repair', costing £4.88 before the discount.
Now I have to be honest and admit I would not usually pay around a fiver for a conditioner but it was more affordable with a couple of pounds off - and don't forget I still got my Boots Advantage Card points too!
Packaged in a recyclable cylindrical container, cream in colour and embellished with attractive gold writing, this product came in 150 ml size and was fine to use for up to 2 years after opening...
Marketed as: 'This 'no rinse' special remedy with bergamot, lavender and honey, conditions, nourishes and beautifully smooths your hair whilst you sleep', it sounded perfect for my over-processed tresses - an intensive conditioner that absorbed and fed my hair with much-needed nutrients while I rested.
I really liked the expensive look of the solid canister with its petite pearlised pump-action lid, plus figured it must work as it was a designer label after all?
The blurb on the back really sold the product to me, promising silky texture, softness and control and the fact it didn't need to be rinsed out the next day all appealed to the consumer in me and in the basket it went ready to be trialled that very night.
Produced in the UK by the award winning British hairdressers, the main aspect of this hair care product was that it could be applied to dry hair last thing at night before bed as part of the user's normal bed time routine simply by applying a pea-sized amount and smoothing through the hair.
The instructions said to spread it on my palms and then spread onto the hair gently and evenly, but I used a comb also to ensure maximum coverage.
The solution was creamy, quite thick and gloopy to use, but the worst aspect was the overwhelming smell.
Expecting a gentle fragrance from the essential oils included in the ingredients list, it was in fact a very strong and rather choking aroma once freed from the bottle.
Eye-wateringly strong in essence, the lavender was incredibly dominant and the honey lost in translation. The bergamot clashed vividly with the former and created a chocking atmosphere, and to be honest it was very difficult to sleep as my hair didn't dry out and nor did the fragrance diminish one iota.
The next morning my hair was still touch-damp and there is no way this Overnight Magic hair Rescue had absorbed properly; in my opinion because the texture was too thick to dry out therefore it was still tacky to the touch.
Trying again the next night and applying even less the results the next morning were the same - no silky texture to be seen.
The substance was unpleasant to use; it didn't work as my hair was still in the same condition, and in addition the smell was cloying and horrible.
Giving it up as a bad job I gave the rest of the mixture to my daughter to try and she experienced similar results.
If you want a super-strong air freshener than this is your stuff - if you want a great leave-in conditioning treatment then go for Aussie's spray-in stuff it beats this horrible concoction hands down!
Only 1 paltry Dooyoo Star for a complete waste of money, please don't bother with this...
