Although I shower every day, I don't like to wash my hair every day and usually wash it every other day. For this reason I needed a shower cap to keep my hair dry on the days that I don't wash my hair. The one I purchased was this Urban Spa shower cap, I bought it from Amazon for around £3.50.
This is the first time I've bought a shower cap as I used to just tie my hair up in a bun on the top of my head but I couldn't get away with keeping it dry when showering and gave in and bought one. It isn't the greatest of looks, shower caps remind me of my nan for some reason! This one is quite funky as far as shower caps go as it has pale blue and green polkadots and catchy little one liners as a design. Definitely miles away from the plain pale pink I think of when thinking about shower caps!
I don't have particularly long hair, it goes down to around my shoulders and I find it easy to position into the shower cap and once the elasticated edge of the cap is around my head I can push the stray bits of hair from the back into the cap and it is all contained underneath. The elastic is quite strong so once it is in place it doesn't seem to move around at all, this is always a good thing, don't really want the elastic to come loose when I'm mid shower.
Every time I have used this shower cap I have taken it off after showering to reveal bone dry hair. Not once have I experienced the cap falling off or the elastic coming away to reveal some of my hair. It definitely does the job it's meant to do. I usually give the shower cap a quick rinse with the shower after use just to keep it in a good, fresh condition.
I'd definitely recommend this Urban Spa shower cap if you are looking for a way to keep your hair dry whilst showering. The design is a little more up to date than what I imagine shower caps to be, it keeps my hair dry and doesn't move around when on my head.
I love Urban Spa and have a selection of different products in their range, including their natural sponges and a fantastic large loofah, which has lasted me for ages. I always think they are premium quality items and I also like the fact that their products are sustained through responsible harvesting practices.
I never thought I would actually admit though that I am the proud owner of a shower cap! Not just any old shower cap, mind you, but a rather different and unique Urban Spa Shower cap (which makes it just a tiny bit less embrassing in my book). These retail at (an expensive) £9 but I bought two for £5 at an online beauty sale about one year ago, or possibly a little longer.
They came individually wrapped and I am still using the original one and haven't needed to open the second one yet, so it is fairly long lasting as I do use it quite regularly.
When new, it smells of quite stong plastic but this soon disappears after the first shower. I love the unique little design on my shower cap with various quotes, inlcuding, "It's me Time", "Keep the Coif" and "Don't Damage the Do". It is constructed from good quality thick waterproof fabric and the size is a good fit. Not too large, or too small. It has a good strong elastic and fits nice and close to the sides of my head, keeping both my hair and my ears completely dry whilst showering.
It's not a glamorous look, granted, but then no-one really sees me in the shower, do they? My partner laughed his socks off the first time he caught me with this on my head, but then he decided it was actually rather cute. I have fairly dry hair and I don't need to wash it too often. My hair is also coloured and I find that the more often my hair is washed, then the quicker my colour fades. For this reason, I like to shower but keep my hair dry and this shower cap works perfectly for me.
I have also used it to sleep in on a couple of occasions. Why, I hear you ask? Well, I like to deep condition my hair from time to time and I use a product which is designed to be left on overnight. In order to save my poor pillow cases from becoming covered in hair conditioner, I use the shower cap to keep everything in place during the night. The cap rarely comes off (or even moves much) and I find that the heat which is enlcosed inside the cap during the night helps to make the conditioner work much more effectively. I don't do this too often though, as obviously it is a bit of a passion killer.
The shower cap is very easy to keep clean and I either just rinse it out under clean warm water and leave it to dry by itself, or alternatively, if it has become particularly messy, I use simple Fairly Liquid to give it an extra clean.
I can heartily recommend this shower cap by Urban Spa. It's a bit differnet from the cheaper varieties you can buy, it is long lasting, good quality and a perfect fit. It is also very versatile but as I say, not too sexy looking.
