“ Brand: V05 / Type: Hair Shampoo / Subcategory: Conditioner / Gloss / What it does: Smoothes, „
I have just written a review on the shampoo in this range and bought this conditioner at the same time so thought id write a review on this too.
I got it on offer in my local supermarket so it was half the normal price. The bottle was 250ml and I got it for £1.
I love conditioners and always use them on my hair, they leave it smooth and soft and much easier to manage. I also use it on my daughters hair as hers seems to get quite knotted over night if I don't condition it.
The bottle is white plastic and has a shiny effect on it. I think it looks a lot more expensive than it is. The fact that it is a different color to the shampoo is good so you don't get them mixed up in the shower.
The conditioner was easy to use. The bottle comes with a flip lid so its easy to handle in the shower without risking spilling any.
The consistency of the conditioner is thick and it spreads easily over your hair, I found the first time I used it I put on loads more than I needed.
The instructions just direct you to apply it directly to damp hair after you have finished washing it. I leave the conditioner on my hair for a couple of minutes just to give it chance to soak in. I don't know if this is really necessary its just what I have always done.
The smell is lovely and fruity it stays on your hair after you come out of the shower I could smell it strongly when I dried my hair afterwards. Does It Gloss Though?:
The conditioner has definitely helped my daughter's hair from getting knotted and it seems to make it easier to manage and more glossy looking. I will definitely be buying another bottle of this as I feel it really works.
When it comes to shampoos and conditioners I'm not a very loyal user, as I tend to find that after a while they stop doing that 'something' for my hair, so I get bored and move onto another brand. Also I find it hard to review products like this seperately as I generally use the same brand of shampoo and conditioner together. Admittedly I'm a little skeptical of the effectiveness of VO5 products, as I'd used several of their styling products in the past that made no difference to my hair. However I saw this conditioner along with the shampoo in a pound shop and supposedly being a good brand, I thought it couldn't hurt to give them a go. Plus the name 'Gloss Me Smoothly' is certainly bound to make any woman seeking glossy, smooth hair at least a little intrigued.
After the first use I expected didn't see much of a difference from any normal shampoo or conditioner. It did leave my hair feeling soft and not dry, so that was a start. After about a week or so I started to see more of a difference in my hair. I dye my hair on a regular basis so isn't as in good a condition as it was when I was younger, so I need the help of hair products to help me achieve the healthy, shiny look I want. I try to stay away from blow drying my hair after washing as this often makes my hair rather frizzy for some reason. Also I have naturally straight hair so I don't bother straightening it other than if I've had it tied up, and then want to wear it down to go out. What's more I try not to wash my hair more than a couple of times a week, to prevent stripping my hair of it's natural oils.
Anyway, after a couple of weeks of using I started to notice that my hair was definitely more shiny and less dry and frizzy than it had been. It also made it feel soft, but I would expect that to happen after using conditioner. On most days after washing with this I would find that I could get away with not using any sort of serum afterwards. Also I would tend to get compliments, and people asking how my hair is always shiny. Everyone loves a compliment, especially if it let's you know that at least you can make some good beauty buy decisions!
Overall I would recommend anyone to try them out, as it'll only cost you ￡2 for decent sized bottles of both the shampoo and conditioner. I know the shampoo in this range hasn't had very good reviews, but to me, shampoos aren't very good for anything past washing your hair. If looking for anything special such as moisture, smoothing, or shine, then a good conditioner is your best bet. I think the shampoos in the same range are just there to make you feel like the products work better if used together. For this reason I'd at least recommend the conditioner, but if like me you prefer to use the same brand, then try the shampoo as well.
I've since moved on from these, as I've decided to try and use more natural products where I can. Although I'd probably come back to these at some point, for now I'm sticking with my current shampoos and conditioners.
The conditioner comes in a white bottle with a sort of metallic pearl type sheen so not anything too over the top but definitely not something you'd be ashamed to have on show in the bathroom. The bottle itself has one of those push down lids which is very useful as your not going to loose the lid. I personally tend to prefer the bottles that can be stood on there lids as I find this avoids wastage but unfortunately you can't do that with this product. However I still think the packaging is pretty and the bottle aids the use of the product.
The text is mostly easy to read but I think many people would struggle to read the tiny writing on the back which gives the standard conditioner instructions and various promises of the amazing things this conditioner claims to do to your hair, as well as an even harder to read list of ingredients. The product has "adaptive haircare technology" and will "banish frizz and unlock shine for a sleek and glossy transformation". Both me and my family seem to agree that this conditioner works well for all of us but we all have similar hair so I can't really comment on the adaptive technology part.
Its also worth noting the product is for "frizzy hair" and to be honest I'm not really sure what this means because surely everyone has days when their hair goes a bit frizzy?? But being completely honest I didn't notice this was for "frizzy hair" until I'd already brought the bottle and if I had I probably wouldn't have brought it as my hair is blonde and quite fine so I tend to go for volumising shampoos and conditioners.
...My Experience Using it...
I didn't use the corresponding shampoo but instead used my usual one which I think enables me to comment more fairly on what the conditioner did to my hair. The first thing I noticed about this product is the smell. It's a nice smell but it's way too strong for my liking and is a bit overpowering but the smell didn't cling to my hair and I couldn't smell it later on during the day although if you left the conditioner on, rather than wash it straight out as I did, the smell may be more noticeable.
I used a average sized blob of conditioner and the product did pretty much everything it promises to do. From the minute I put the product into my hair it felt smoother and softer than it had done in ages. The conditioner felt luxurious to apply and made my hair far more manageable when it came to drying and styling my hair. I was also very happy with the fact it didn't leave my hair feeling greasy but it definitely felt softer and there was NO FRIZZ!!
...Value For Money....
I brought this conditioner with my tesco shopping when it was on offer at half price for only £1 although it is only a 250ml bottle I still think this is very good value for money. I also think the same size bottle can be brought in pound shops and the 500ml bottles can be purchased in boots for about £3.60 so, as with most products, it pays to shop around. I definitely think though for the quality of the product its an absolute bargain!
This is a review of V05 Gloss Me Smoothly Conditioner, which I have come to the end of my first bottle recently. I have also reviewed the corresponding shampoo in the range which I finished before the conditioner. I can never seem to get them to last the same amount of time so must be heavy handed with the shampoo!
I bought my bottle from Poundland as I just wanted to try it and felt that wasn't a lot of money to risk.
The conditioner promises to banish frizz and unlock shine for a sleek and glossy transformation.
The bottle is 250 ml but looks smaller due to the thin neck on the bottle. I think it looks quite old fashioned. It is made of white pearlised plastic but you can see how much you have left inside from the shadow it leaves. The information is printed on a clear label and for some reason the Vo5 logo, which is gold, has worn off on my bottle. I must be where I held it when I was squeezing the product out. The top is fixed on permanently (so no unscrewing) and it's a lid that you press in and squeeze to remove the product. The shape is identical to the shampoo but helpfully, the colours are different for each product. The bottle is recyclable which is also good news.
I liked this conditioner, it feels really slippy and silky when you squeeze it from the bottle. A little bit went a long way and it really did make my hair feel nice and smooth. I used it in conjunction with the shampoo from the same range so I think they both helped. I have quite straight hair naturally but this does help combat the bit of frizz I can sometimes get. I found a tablespoon sized amount on my mid length hair was plenty - I only ever use conditioner on the length and ends of my hair anyway. I like to leave it on for a couple of minutes to 'sink in' (whist I read my book lol) and then rinse out completely.
I felt that I got results with this conditioner even when I did not use a hairdryer afterwards. My hair did not feel like it needed other products in it afterwards and it seemed to behave for at least two days which is great as sometimes it is ready to be washed again on day two. I also noticed my hair was not as knotty as usual, it often gets quite bad due to the colour on it but my hairbrush has glided through my hair happily whilst using this product.
This conditioner is available in bigger sizes so obviously if you like it then it may be more economical to buy the bigger size. I will definitely buy this again and think it is perfect for travelling as there is minimum risk of leakage and the size is not too bulky. I liked the light and fruity scent of the conditioner and can honestly say I have never had any other conditioner that was like it.
The bottle says that Grazia readers recommend this product which is a great endorsement. Whilst I bought a bottle of conditioner for 'frizzy hair' which I don't really have, it still gave me great results, without weighing down my hair or making it greasy in a short space of time. I will recommend this shampoo as a great buy to friends and family as it really does perform well. I have a couple of other bottles of other branded conditioner to use in the meantime that were in Christmas presents but have no doubt that I will return to this brand.
I'm not really a person who is fussy with shampoo and conditioner and I am not loyal to any particular brand, and enjoy trying out new brands. I first came across the VO5 Gloss Me Smoothly conditioner a few months ago in my local poundland and it seemed like a total bargain so I got a couple of bottles. I've since purchased this conditioner from Superdrug for 99p and B&M for something like 89p, which is a total bargain!
This conditioner comes in either 250ml bottles or 500ml bottles. A 250ml bottle averages at £1-£1.99 and the larger 500ml bottles are priced at around £3.50 but this brand of conditioner is often on offer and it is very affordable even at the full price. The conditioner comes in a sturdy plastic bottle which isn't really easily squeezable which is a bit of a downer. The bottle has a rounded rectangular body with a slim neck which has the opening where the conditioner comes out, it doesn't have a lid and instead you simply press down on the top and the top flips up and exposes a hole.
The bottle is white with the VO5 branding and the product name/product claims written on the front. It also says in the right corner that Grazia readers reccomend this conditioner. On the back of the bottle you will find the lengthy list of ingredients. It also gives directions for use which are simple and easy to follow. It also says "your hair is as unique as you are and has individual needs. That's why this conditioner has Adaptive Hair Care technology which adjusts giving you the nourishment you need, when you need it."
It goes on to say that the conditioner is infused with satin silk, which will:
* Caress & smooth your hair to control frizz and flyaways
* Leaves hair soft to the touch and radiantly shiny
* Make hair more manageable whether you style it straight or curly
As you can see, this product is pretty big headed with lots of fancy claims. I was a bit wary at first that it wouldn't be anything special (mainly due to how cheap it is) however I love it! It's now my favourite conditioner as it leaves my hair so silky and soft, and i've definetly noticed that my hair appears more glossy since i've bein using it. I have very thick hair, which easily gets frizzy and tangled, however since using the conditioner my hair doesn't seem to get any where near as frizzy or tangled as it used to and my hair is easy to brush after my bath which it isn't usually so the conditioner has obviously had positive effects on my hair!
As well as been a brill conditioner it also smells pretty nice. It is quite a strong floral perfume smell which leaves my hair smelling fresh and it is also a refreshing smell so helps wake me up in the morning when i'm in the shower. The conditioner itself is white and glossy in appearence and I only need a 10p sized blob - I have got long shoulder length hair which is really thick and this is enough to cover the whole of my hair and my scalp too. It is easy to wash out and doesn't leave any residue or anything like that. My hair feels soft to the touch once i've rinsed it out and it feels nourished, no matter how silly that might sound!
Overall, I can't fault this conditioner. It does what it claims and is incredibly cheap. A 250ml bottle lasts me for around a month so it is brilliant value and I highly reccomend this product.
I have quite hard to manage hair that is prone to drying out easily and can be rather frizzy. My hair also tends to get used to products easily so I tend to change what I use on a regular basis. And as I stated on my review of the 'Gloss me Smoothly Shampoo' I was a little hesitant to buy this range from V05 as I had liked the old range so much I didn't think it would be as good. But me not being able to resist a good offer I decided to give it a try and also purchased the matching conditioner.
The conditioner comes in a 250ml bottle, I was lucky enough to only pay £1.00 for the conditioner from Boots which I thought was a great bargain as it normally retails in for £1.99. I tend to always buy two bottles of conditioner per one bottle of Shampoo as I have dry hair so tend to use quite a large amount of conditioner to make sure my hair is well nourished.
The conditioner comes in a pearlescent ivory bottle with a flip top cap, I thought it was a shame that it was not in the same vivid pink bottle the shampoo came in but I suppose this way you can tell the difference between the two easily. The front of the bottles design is quite simple with the Alberto VO5 logo and the name of the conditioner. It states that the conditioner is for fizzy hair and that it will 'banish frizz and unlock shine for a sleek glossy transformation'. On the back of the bottle it gives you more detailed information including full ingredients listings and directions for use. It also states that the bottle is suitable for recycling.
The conditioner like the shampoo has' Adaptive Haircare Technology' which means that the conditioner adjusts to you, giving you the correct amount of nourishment for your hair.
The directions for use tell you after shampooing to work the conditioner through the mid lengths to the ends of your hair. I also always do my roots to as they also are quite dry and need extra moisture. I do use quite a lot of conditioner so a 250ml bottle normally last me around 10 washes.
I find the conditioner really easy to dispense out of the bottle and there are never any leaks as the conditioner is rather thick. The conditioner is easy to distribute through my hair to give all over coverage. The conditioner feels very silky and has a pleasant sweet, fruity fragrance. I find that this conditioner also washes out very easily and does not leave any residue behind.
After using the Gloss me smoothly conditioner and as long as it is fully rinsed out then it leaves my hair feeling very soft and supple after conditioning. Although again like the shampoo it does not seem to leave a noticeably better glossing effect on my hair but I would still definitely recommend this conditioner to anyone who suffers from dry/frizzy hair as it gives a good level of hydration without leaving it limp and lifeless as with some conditioners.
In conclusion a very good conditioner for dry/frizzy hair and a bargain if found on offer.
Recently when I purchased the matching shampoo to this item I bought them both on offer reduced from the usual price of £1.99 for a 250ml bottle (each) to 99p in Superdrug and I really fancied it considering it has the name 'Gloss Me smoothly'........ I mean who doesn't wasn't glossy, shiny, healthy looking hair after-all?
The bottle is white plastic and very sleek looking with a flip-top lid to the top of it and on the front of it we are told that it is Alberto V05 Gloss Me Smoothly Frizzy hair Conditioner and that it has 'Adaptive Haircare Technology' and that it 'Banishes frizz and unlocks shine for a sleek and glossy transformation' and the size is stated (as I have listed already). On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, the ingredients are given and contact details for Alberto Culver (the manufacturer of the product) are given. This really is a very nice looking bottle, plastic and squeezable and informative enough.
The Conditioner Itself:
This is a thick white conditioner although thick though it does squeeze out of the bottle with ease and has a soft feel to it. Being a conditioner you need a decent sized blob of this and to gently massage it through damp/wet hair after shampooing first of course.
This has a none distinctive sweet and fruity aroma to it which is really fresh and clean in fragrance and that fragrance lingers on the hair a good few hours after using it.
Easy to use and easy to rinse out, a little of this goes a very long way indeed so it does work out a very economical product in the long run and incidentally this fragrance does match that totally of the matching shampoo of this of course.
Does It Gloss Though?:
Well this contains satin silk according to the information listed on the back of the bottle and feels smooth when being applied. It is a lightweight formulation and leaves the hair feeling soft, supple and smooth and it does 'feel' glossy and healthy however this on the back of the bottle promises to tame fly-aways and frizz too and I have to admit that I have that it does help with that slightly.
However although I find this to be a very good day to day type of conditioner this doesn't particularly gloss my hair which is actually the main promise of this conditioner. It does a whole host of other things which is helpful just not give my hair any extra shine to what I usually get!
A so so conditioner!
Available in all good chemists and supermarkets.
