Alberto VO5 offer a range of hair care products.

~Gloss Me Smoothly~

Gloss Me Smoothly Shampoo (conditioner is also available) has an 'Adaptive Haircare Technology' which should provide your hair with nourishment where it is needed. This shampoo is aimed at those with frizzy hair. After using this shampoo, hair should be more manageable and frizz should be under control. VO5 also promise shiny hair. This shampoo is enriched with satin silk and essential oils including apricot oil and jojoba oil.

~Packaging~

This shampoo is presented in a bright pink bottle which is shaped a little like a wine bottle. The bottle is made of plastic and is not see through so there is the difficulty of determining how much shampoo is left. A label offers the relevant product information. The shampoo is dispensed via a push down cap at the top of the bottle. The bottle can be recycled and this shampoo has a 12month shelf life. If find the packaging to be functional and fairly attractive.

~Price and Availability~

This range of shampoo and conditioners includes specific products for different hair types. Gloss Me Smoothly is available in two sizes - 250ml and 500ml. It is stocked in stores including Boots and Tesco. Expect to pay around £3.50 for the 500ml and £2.00 for the 250ml. I have also spotted this range in pound shops so it is worth looking around for!

~My Thoughts~

We go through a lot of shampoo and conditioner in our house so I stock up when I spot special offers. I bought this VO5 shampoo and one of the conditioners (not the matching one as it wasn't available at the time of purchase) from Tesco last month as I was running low on my other shampoo. Tesco, incidentally, have them on offer until the 28th of August reduced to £1.00 a bottle (250ml size). This represents good value for money.

I chose the frizzy hair shampoo as my hair is generally frizzy and really dry. I have found this shampoo to be perfect fine for everyday use as it is light weight. It is suitable for the whole family to use and my fiance is currently using this shampoo too (he just has normal hair). This shampoo has a good consistency. It is quite thick and a glossy white colour. I use quite a large size blob for my long, thick hair and find that it lathers up well and forms a thick, silky feeling lather.

This shampoo carries a lovely scent. It is very fresh and clean with a delicate sweet/floral undertone. It isn't overly feminine so men could carry it off perfectly fine. I find the lather takes a little longer to rinse than other shampoos I have used. It seems to cling to my hair and if I do not rinse it well, it leaves a residue on my hair. The scent lingers on my hair for a short while which is nice.

This shampoo is gentle which is perfect for me as I have a sensitive scalp which often feels itchy after using a new shampoo - it doesn't agitate the dry areas of my scalp either. My hair feels clean and refreshed after each use and I manage to go 2 or 3 days before I really need to rewash my hair - I usually wash every 2 days out of habit! I have noticed my hair doesn't get as greasy so quickly.

I wouldn't say that the results of this shampoo are outstanding. My hair is soft and clean with a hint of shine - it is a little less frizzy but not completely manageable. This shampoo comes with strong claims of delivering hydration where required and it really should do this without the need for conditioner (but of course a conditioner would enhance the results). On the rare occasion that I do not apply conditioner, my brush doesn't go through my hair as well. Personally, I found that this shampoo didn't hydrate my hair anymore than other shampoos and I really did need to use a conditioner for smooth and hydrated locks.

~Conclusion~

Having used this shampoo for a few weeks, I would say that it is best suited for those with normal/slightly frizzy hair rather than dry/frizzy hair. It cleanses well and smells lovely. I do find myself using more than I would with other shampoos in this price range. I did expect more of a moisture boost for my hair with this shampoo. I will use this again though in conjunction with a decent shampoo.

Thanks for reading :)
