Introduction

I had a serious hair disaster last week when my faithful hairdryer of five years decided that it had had enough abuse from me and decided to leave this mortal realm for good. I appreciate that most electrical things wont last forever however I was lets just say ever so slightly upset when it picked its moment on a day when I was running late for work and had only given myself ten minutes to dry my extremely thick hair. I had actually turned it on and there was a puff of smoke a couple of sparks and that was that at least it went out with a bang!!!! Needless to say I couldn't remember where I had put my travel emergency dryer so unfortunately had to go to work with soaking wet hair. My only saving grace was the fact that it was actually an extremely wet day and I don't think anybody else really noticed the real reason for my dripping locks!!! I however realised that I would have to rectify this situation quickly and decided that as I was going to be driving passed Argos on the way home that I would pop in and grab a new hairdryer.

The Product

I quickly sifted through the Argos catalogue and actually while I was doing this I noticed a display box on the stand in front of me which featured a Vidal Sassoon hair dryer not too dissimilar to my previous one. This particular item was on special offer and cost only £9.69 which I thought was a complete bargain and in addition it was extremely stylish looking too. The amazing thing was that it was a full-size hairdryer and not a travel-size product. Obviously a promotion of the month well needless to say I grabbed one immediately. Thinking that even if I didn't like it, it would do me for the next morning and I could buy a better one the next time I was in town. The item in question was a Vidal Sassoon 2000w Silky Performance Dryer. I got the product home and immediately took it out of its packaging which was actually the right sized box for the item contained inside and not excessive cardboard as you can get with some products. The box contained the Silky Dryer, its attachment and an instruction manual. I was immediately delighted with the look of the product. It was very stylish and looked as if it should have been a lot more expensive than the paltry amount that I had paid for it. The main colours where black and silver with a couple of purple flashes for decoration the Sassoon logo is also prominently displayed across the dryer in black. The product itself was made of very light plastic. The flex included was quite long which I thought was super as it meant that I would be able to manoeuvre around the room while using it without any restrictions.

Specifications

The Hairdryer has a detachable concentrator nozzle which can be used for precision styling and provides smooth results. I tend to separate my hair into sections and use this item when I have a lot of time for styling usually when I am going out. Normally however I don't use the nozzle for everyday drying as I just blast my hair quickly and go. The product has 2 heat or speed settings for maximum control. Be aware though that the higher heat is very hot so use with care and be careful not to put the dryer to close to the head as it will burn your scalp if you are not careful!!! In addition to this there is a cool shot button. I was impressed with this as I have owned dryers in the past where this function was rather pathetic. This one however gives quite a forceful blast of cold air which is extremely refreshing. There is also an attractively shaped ergonomic handle which makes using easy and the dryer fits nicely in the hand. I have small hands and find that it fits extremely well and is comfortable to hold not too big and bulky. The dryer also has a handy hanging loop for easy storage. The dryer also sports a removable air inlet for easy cleaning and to ensure that your dryer is always in peek condition. The Silky Dryer is equipped with a thermostat that will turn itself off should the heat of the dryer exceed the optimum drying level, due to a partially blocked air inlet or outlet openings. If the dryer stops it is important to leave it to cool down before resuming use.

Overall

I can't recommend this product enough as it suits my needs extremely well. My hair is thick and I can literally dry it in five minutes with this Hairdryer. The flex is long allowing me to be able to move around my room while using the product. The nozzle attachment is great for precision styling when I have a little more spare time. In addition and bearing in mind this cost me under a tenner it is guaranteed for an amazing two years from date of purchase well you cant say fairer than that now can you. 5 stars a brilliant bargain product.
