I bought this the other week based on reviews I'd read on here, I have used the miniture bottles that you have to heat up in hot water before using, but I always found this to be too much effort. When I found out about this I went straight out and bought a bottle. I got mine from Boots where it costs around £5 for the bottle, which can seem quite pricey for the small bottle but trust me, this stuff works miracles and is well worth the price. It comes in a small clear bottle with the blue VO5 logo on the front, and the oil itself is a bright orangy/honey colour. The back of the bottle has little markers on it so you know exactly how much you need for one application. No heating is required, simply pour it onto you hand and then lather it into your hair. You dont get alot of bubbles, but then it isnt a shampoo so it didnt expect it to lather up too much. You apply it before shampooing, and leave it on for up to 1 minute, it states on the bottle to not exceed the application time - im sure what happens if you do but best not to chance it. Once one minute elapsed rinse out well and then shampoo your hair afterwards. As soon as you begin to rinse it off you can feel the difference on your hair, it feels softer and smoother and thicker and fuller. Once you dry your hair you can still feel the difference and see the difference! My hair is soft and shinier, has more volume and looks so much more healthy than before. This stuff really does work miracles and I will continue to use it regularly! I cannot recommend this product enough - go - buy it!
My hair gets so dry from all the straightening and blow drying. I'm not very nice to my hair so it does get inundated with split ends and dry frizzy bits. It's all my own fault, but every now and then I panic and decide I need a quick fix to do something about it. I saw this reduced to £3 in a bits and bobs shop near me. I bought it and decided to give it a go as a conditioner. I washed my hair and used my usual shampoo. I squeezed some water out of my hair so that it was just damp. I put a dollop of this on my hand and rubbed it into my hair, all over, but paying special attention to my ends rather than the roots so that my hair wouldn't go greasy too much sooner than usual. The conditioner had a very salon like smell, which immediately made me feel it was going to do something really nice to my hair (which is actually very silly, and just a subconscious unrealistic expectation). The conditioner was soft and creamy, it coated my hair easily and nicely. I left it on for about five minutes (although it may have been a shorter length of time, I do get quite impatient). It felt quite hard to wash off, but that was because it coated my hair and made it so soft that it felt like the layer of conditioner wasn't coming off. Once dry my hair felt so soft and silky. It did get greasy much quicker, so I am not sure if it actually did some deep down goodness to my hair or just left a coat on it. I don't mind my hair being heavy as it weighs down my frizz and helps tame my waves, but if you do not want heavy hair I would avoid this conditioner. This had some nice short term effects, but I am not so sure about the long term effects.
With what feels like an unruly mane of afro-Caribbean hair, this VO5 Hot Oil treatment seemed like a pretty good idea. I decided to give it a go after I'd taken out the braids from my weave, which left my natural hair knotted, dry and more damaged than it had ever been before. After a bit of a cry and washing my hair a handful of times to no avail, I studied the VO5 bottle in my local Boots, which seemed like a moisturising solution for my dry, damaged hair. Although small in size, the bottle actually contains 3 applications, which are marked out by little arrows on the side (efficient), and designed to work with the heat of your shower, meaning you don't need to warm the oil up (like other treatments). As directed, I applied the product onto wet hair, before shampooing. I had to use almost the entire bottle! To be fair, my hair is ridiculously thick (although not that long?), but "one application" was definitely not enough. Anyway, I kept it on for one minute as advised, rinsed the product out, then shampooed and conditioned my hair as usual. Although I was a little miffed that I had no more VO5 left when I was promised 3 applications, I was actually really pleased with the results in the end. My hair felt soft and looked a lot healthier than before. I would recommend the treatment to anyone, and with a price tag a little over £4, I suppose it's not terrible value for money, even if it doesn't last as long as it should.
Perfect hair remedy..... I stumbled upon this after looking at VO5 small mini hot oil tubes and upon seeing this bigger tub appeared great value, I purchased off eBay. The RRP is between £3.50 and £4, I picked it up for a few quid including postage. At the moment Tesco are selling this hair lifesaver for 77p believe it or not, I only found out by a comparison website. So I cleared the shelf then went back and re-cleared the shelf and stripped it of all of it's hot oil :D yes it is THAT good. Packaging- Clear plastic bottle with flip lid. Ingredients used are stated. It claims that it restores the moisture for dramatic results, doubles the strength of hair to reduce breakage, seeks out and binds to the weak sites of every strand, reconstructs damaged hair and removes 75% more chlorine than shampooing alone on the bottle. Usage- It has markers on the side to enable you to get a correct application amount - I have long hair and do not even use the amount stated I use much less and it does the job. So a small palmful is required, just straight out of the bottle. I use it on the bottom 3 quarters of my hair as I do not want the top to be flattened by product. Apply on wet hair before shampooing. Leave for one minute then rinse and shampoo as normal. I sometimes use conditioner after shampooing it out for extra strength as my hair really needs it with being really long, heavily layered and coloured for many years. It is not essential to use conditioner after and is normally adequate to just hot oil then shampoo. I like to massage it into the ends of my hair so I know it is getting the full benefit. The feel- It lathers and almost feels like it is cleaning your hair leaving it a bit squeaky after applying if that makes any sense, it seems like it cleans any nasties off and replaces it with moisturisation. Can't really describe it but you know it's working!! Effects- It helps my parched hair to feel less coarse underneath and at the ends and has somewhat of a shine to it I think after using. No weighty effect were found, it did not make my hair feel funny or heavy it just quietly did it's job and disappeared off :) Summary- I feel this is good for all hair tpes, use more often if you have dry hair as you cannot use too much of it, it does not leave anything behind like residue. Definitely recommend, V05 simply IS a neccesity!!
Introduction I used to buy the Alberto VO5 hot oil tubes to repair and moisturise my hair when it became too dry but i found that heating the tubes of oil up before applying the oil to my hair was a bit of a fiddle! I also felt the product was a little over priced (just under £1 for one hot oil tube) so when I discovered VO5 Hot Oil Shower Works Moisture Soak (75ml for around £3.50) I was thrilled. Packaging VO5 hot oil shower works moisture soak (75ml) comes in a stand alone tube with a flip top lid. Ease of use VO5 Hot Oil Shower Works Moisture Soak is so much easier to use than the small VO5 hot oil tubes as you can use as much or as little of the oil as you like and with the hot oil shower works you don't have to heat up the oil before you use it! All you need to do is wet your hair, apply the hot oil, leave it on for up to one minute, then rinse the oil out of your hair and shampoo it. Overall I use VO5 hot oil once a week as I wash and style my hair everyday and it can become extremely dry and dull. VO5 hot oil restores the moisture in my hair making it much easier to manage and it gives it shine. I think VO5 hot oil is good value for money and I have no hesitation in recommending this product to everyone.
I have been using hot oil for years now, for those of you not familiar with the product, it is made by Alberto VO5 and is an oil that you heat up in warm water and apply to your hair before washing that gives your hair a deep conditioning treatment and leaves it feeling very clean. I only use this before I am going out somewhere nice, I don't use it all the time as it is quite expensive. I used to purchase 3 small tubes of the oil for £3.88, considering it is one tube per use, I thought this was quite expensive. Whilst in Tesco last week, I discovered this new hot oil shower works moisture soak. It costs £3.40 for a 75ml bottle. It is exactly the same as hot oil but it is not in separate tubes and you don't have to heat this oil before use. This immediately appealed to me as I always found it slightly annoying that I had to mess around heating the tube of hot oil up before I could use it. The bottle that I purchased states that it is for dry and damaged hair. It comes in a half transparent and half blue tube, with a blue flip top lid that the bottle stands on. It has the Alberto V05 logo on the front and states that it reconstructs damaged hair in one minute. It also states that it transforms dull, dry or damaged hair into repaired, moisturised and shiny hair. I know that this is true due to the fact that I have previously used hot oil, just in a different packaging. This product is good for anyone that has coloured their hair, or that (like myself) blow dries and straightens their hair quite a lot. By using heat on the hair it really dries it out, therefore I believe you need to use something regularly to put the moisture back into your hair to prevent it from breaking. On the back of the bottle it states that it, restores the moisture for dramatic results, doubles the strength of hair to reduce breakage, reconstructs damaged hair, seeks out and binds to the weak sites of every strand, removes 75% more chlorine than shampooing alone. To use this product in the shower/bath, you firstly wet you hair, you then put some oil into the palm of your hands (I find that it is quite runny so be careful not to let it spill!) you then massage this into your hair, ensuring that you cover the hair equally, especially at the roots and the tips. On the side of the bottles there are markers that tell you how much of the oil you should use in each application, but I don't always go by this. Everyone has different hair lengths, so I just use my judgment and use as much as I feel is enough to cover my hair adequately, this way you get more uses out of the bottle! You then massage the oil into the hair for upto 1 minute, you do not need to leave it on for any longer than 1 minute as it has done its job by then. You then rinse out the oil and shampoo and condition your hair as usual. As soon as I rinse the oil out of my hair, I can feel the difference, my hair feels much cleaner and softer. By the time I finish shampooing and conditioning it feels wonderful. I then blow dry and straighten my hair and i can tell that I have used the treatment oil on my hair as it is much easier to straighten and I find that it goes much straighter than it usually does without any frizz. Once my hair is done it looks like I have just come out of the salon, it look thick, healthy and shiny. I have found that this only last until my next shampoo, but it is long enough for me to use the hot oil so my hair looks good on a night out. I got roughly 6 uses out of this bottle, so is much better value than paying £3.88 for 3 tubes as I used to before.
