Advantages: lathers up well - rinses easily - leaves hair clean and shiny - repels head lice

Disadvantages: can sting the eyes

When the baby shampoo stopped being effective on my eldest daughters hair we started trying out a few brands to find one that we both liked and that suited her hair type.

We have tried a few different brands of shampoo and conditioner and the one we are using at the moment is Vosene 3 in 1 kids conditioning shampoo with head lice repellent.

I stumbled across this shampoo on the Asda groceries website and as we had recently been infested with Head lice I was feeling a bit paranoid. The shampoo is currently £2.28 for a 250ml bottle. This is quite expensive for such a small bottle compared to other children's shampoos but it is a shampoo and conditioner.

I have used Vosene on and off for years as I love the smell and always feel that it leave my hair clean and shiny so I didn't hesitate to order this for my daughter.

The shampoo is clear and contains natural head lice repellents Tea Tree Oil & Lemon Eucalyptus so has the distinctive tea tree smell. You only need a small amount as it is easily rubbed into the hair and produces a nice lather.

There are warnings on the bottle that you should not get this shampoo in your eyes and if you do then you should rinse with clean water. I assume that this shampoo has this warning because of the tea tree oil. My daughter is quite worried about getting this shampoo into her eyes so I always wash her hair so that she can hold a flannel over her forehead to stop anything running down her face.

We have found that the shampoo is very easy to rub into the hair and due to the conditioner it gets out a lot of the tangles that come with having long hair. My daughter's hair is just past her shoulders so not very long but long enough to get knotty. Rinsing the hair is very simple and only takes a few minutes either in the bath or using the shower. When we have finished rinsing her hair always feels clean and doesn't have any residue that is left with some conditioners.

Once the hair is washed it is almost tangle free and very easy to brush or comb. Drying doesn't take as long as when we use a separate conditioner or a detangling spray and her is left soft and shiny. With other shampoos we have had to wash my daughter's hair two or three times a week because the residue from the conditioners makes her hair look greasy. We usually wash my daughter's hair twice a week since using this shampoo and conditioner and we have found it gets much less greasy and looks clean and shiny much longer.

We are very pleased with this shampoo and prefer it to most of the others we have tried and so far we haven't had any more head lice. How effective it is at repelling head lice I can't say. I was aware that head lice don't particularly like tea tree oil and have used my own tea tree shampoo on my daughter after using the medicated head lice treatment.

I would recommend this shampoo as it leave the hair soft shiny and manageable. I believe the hair is cleaner and stays cleaner much longer with this shampoo and conditioner. My only complaint is that it doesn't have the 'no tears' formula that children's shampoos would normally have.

Definitely worth trying.

Summary: definitely worth trying
