Advantages: Keep the lice at bay
Disadvantages: Makes you itch talking about it
After having used this for several years I thought I'd review on here to recommend it for others. When my son was in reception year at school we starting getting regular letters warning that there had been a case of headlice in his class. I used to check his hair after school and one day I did find a big head lice, not kidding you it was shocking the size of it and that it had been in another child's hair unnoticed. (itching your head yet?) I have a nit comb and used that sometimes to check his hair too, but after finding this I hoped it hadn't had chance to lay any eggs so was extra cautious for a week or so checking his hair. It was only when I saw this product advertised that I thought I'd give it a go. Prevention is better then cure if I remember rightly the nit treatment shampoo used to smell horrid.
I found this Vosene kids 3 in 1 conditioning shampoo in a store and started using it and never looked back at other shampoo for him. A 250ml bottle currently costs £1.50 in Asda. It is in a distinctive green bottle and flip top lid. A bottle lasts several months with just my son using a small amount at each use.
It cleans conditions and defends as contains natural head lice repellents. These repellents would be the Tea tree oil and lemon eucalyptus. It is fine for daily use too so this stays in the bathroom and is used every time my son is bathed or showered. I can smell the Tea tree oil in this quite well and is a pleasant smell even if it's a slightly medicated smell. Only a small amount is needed to build up a nice lot of lather to wash the hair properly and rinses out well. You can smell the shampoo after the hair is dry and I guess this is what keeps the lice at bay. This also leaves his hair nice and soft. Touch wood we've had no more uninvited visitors to his head since I've been using this shampoo and will continue to have none. I always thought it was only girls that got lice due to having long hair so it did surprise me to learn that wasn't true. I guess if you rub heads with someone who has them they are easily passed.
I would like to draw your attention though to a warning on this bottle which reads as follows - Tea tree aroma may effect epilepsy & acute asthma sufferers.
So yes I would recommend this shampoo highly but I would not guarantee my son would never get lice again but this has helped so far.
Summary: Fine for daily use, not expensive and does what it says on the bottle.
