Advantages: Safety all around with these and makes travel a breeze!

I have been using GHD straighteners for a few years now. Prior to that I had several pairs of various makes which really did nothing for my long thick hair at all, but at least they were less of a fire risk (being much less powerful) from me leaving them on I suppose. As all electrical items pose a fire risk though I decided it was time to stop being complacent, and to buy a bag for them which also doubled up as a heat resistant mat.

As I travel quite a lot and like to take my straighteners with me it really started to annoy me when we were trying to get going early for a flight over to The Outer Hebrides at the crack of dawn, and we were rushing to the gate from the hotel wondering how to cope with my hot straighteners.This made the decision I had to find something suitable and fast.

I picked the WAHL straightener bag and I paid £9.99 a couple of years ago, but recently had the need to purchase another for my son who got some male GHDs for his birthday. Brilliant- it was only £1.29 on Amazon, and they still have some left! A real bargain for an excellent product. Wahl an American company have been in the UK for 20 years now so have a good reputation.

The bag is black and it zips round to enclose the straighteners, and the top part has a Velcro closure. It unzips to provide a heat resistant mat for them when in use. This mat is fantastic as you never have to worry again about balancing them on a surface, or maybe using a towel to rest them on, as this is the best method you can employ to be as safe as you can be. It is heat resistant to 210 degrees. The reverse side of the bag has a mesh pocket on the outside so that you can wrap the cable up securely when you are putting them away.

The main advantage of this is that you can safely pack them away after use without having to wait for them to cool down. This is fantastic for travel, and for general safety in the home away from little children or the tiny cat paws we have padding around our house.

It makes a nice compact little parcel which fits into your luggage easily, and stores even the wide plates which I have with ease.

It is great to see the new GHD straighteners do have a thermal cut out now which means that if you leave them on after half an hour they will automatically shut down, but even so the bag is still needed for the heat proof surface, and for the transportation reasons mentioned, but at least the new feature helps with safety.

I would recommend this bag to anyone who has ceramic hair straighteners which due to their intense heat can pose serious risks to property, and to young children and animals, and of course could in exceptional cases cause a fire. It can also be used for other hair tools such as heated tongs.

I have left mine on by accident twice in the last few years, both when distracted by phone calls or door bells, luckily I remembered, but thanks to this bag I have been spared the damage or worse these little mishaps could have caused.

The bag wins my vote on all aspects of use and transport of heated hair tools, and the best thing is I don't keep hubby waiting in hotels anymore! At last we are in plenty of time for our flights and hopefully my hair is tidy too!
