Advantages: Cheap and smells nice enough

Disadvantages: Read review!

I remember when I was a kid (many moons ago now lol) we didn't have all the choice of shampoos and conditioners we have on offer now. No designer ranges and Boots wasn't as prominent as now! I do remember thinking I was very posh when I was about 14 years old because in class at school we were having a chat about shampoos and in my house we used 'Dimensions' which in my mind at that time was a step above Palmolive and Vosene that all the other kids used. We didn't have all the choice we have now as I have said and I don't remember using conditioner till I was over 18 and buying it for myself to be honest. I sound so old for 34 but unless my memory is failing me that was the way it was!

The reason I drag all this up now is because I remember Wash & Go coming out and being shown on the tv. I remember my mum proudly displaying the green bottle on a shelf all to itself. It was a bit more pricey than other stuff on the market and was a 2 in 1 product and we, we we had never tried anything like that before!. Not having condioner in my house this was posh and all the kids at school were gagging for their Mums to buy it too. It all seems lame now but it was exciting to the girls in my girls school I can tell you that much lol

However using it was a bloody nightmare. I had an acid perm (no comments required thank you very much as I'm sure I'm not the only one who made mistakes in my youth but in my defence my Mother demanded it be done (for real and cut short tut lol) and this stuff played havoc with my hair. This stuff stripped my hair and made it feel frizzy and dry. Oh how the kids laughed at my brillo pad do when I had been so optimistic! Worse thing was Mum said you wanted now use it! My hair was in an awful state and I hated this product!

As the years passed I never gave the product a second thought. Never even looked at it. It didn't suit me and me, well I don't believe in short cuts about cleaning and conditioning my long hair. I have a routine. I spend alot of money on hair care after-all. I shampoo my hair twice and condition it after every wash. I use hot oil once a week, a leave in condioner once a week and a special hair mask at least once a week. I try to look after my hair and treat it kindly and never do I think a combined 2 in 1 hair care product is a good idea as I'm not a hurried person!

However a couple of weeks back I was going to stay at my then bfs home overnight. We were going out for a meal and drinks and stuff (he didn't live in same town as me) and we were going out the following day down some boring fields looking at trains (don't ask about that either all I will reveal is I dumped him midweek after that lol) and I had so much stuff to take with me! My clothes, toiletries, hair drier and ghds. I had two massive bags of stuff and I didn't want to appear like I was moving in with him! So he picked me up and we drove the 30 miles to his house and it suddenly struck me I had forgotten my shampoo and conditioner. We had to stop at Morrison's anyway for a couple of bottles of wine and nibbles and things and I thought well I can't ask him what shampoo and that he uses! He could use shower gel and I couldn't risk going to his (I hadn't been there before) and end up with nothing to use! We were in a hurry, I didn't have a lot of money on me so I forgot everything I said... and picked up a bottle of this cos after all all, all I wanted was one or two washes max out of it! He grabbed my bits and paid for them (I so kicked myself after I can tell you lol). I got to his and he did have loads of stuff but hey least I had my own stuff but unpacking our bits and bobs into his house I looked at it and thought ah no this could seriously ruin my hair like it did when I was younger. I thought that so much so that instead of having a planned shower before we went out I didn't! bother I was clean anyway and just spruced myself up the best I could and restyled my hair and redid my make up. (incidentally the photograph of me lying on the stairs was taken that night lol) but it shows I really was concerned to not bother with a shower and that lol.

So the following day I got up and had a shower and scared I flipping was. Not just cos the shower was an awful nightmare to switch on but because I was armed with this stuff!

The Packaging....

300ml light green recyclable plastic bottle with integrated hole so that the flip top lid blends in smooth with the rest of the bottle. On the front in the right hand corner I'm told it's Complete Care for a clean feel and manageable hair. Then in the middle of the bottle in large white writing I'm told it is Wash & Go on a a blue square pattern then on a green section also in white writing I'm told it's Universal 2 in 1 shampoo & conditioner for all hair types. On the back of the bottle.I'm once again pretty much told all the information yet again which I've told you already and then told a bit about the product, directions for use, ingredients are listed, contact details for Procter & Gamble are given (the manufacturers of Wash & Go), there is a large bar-code towards the bottom of the bottle and then finally the size is stated (as I've listed already) and the recycle symbol is displayed on there. The bottle looks rather dated now and not all that modern but it is easy to use it!

About The Product....

The Wash & Go Complete Care Formula, enriched with nourishing ingredients is especially designed to give you:
1) A clean feel and
2) Manageable hair, all in 1

Directions For Use....

Massage into wet hair, lather and rinse thoroughly.

My Experience....

Well I've used it a few times now and simply.. it's ok. The idea of a product like this is to be able to wash and go after-all. Wash once and go, more to the point! It's meant really for a quick freshen up more than to give a deep down shiny clean hair (in my opinion). It doesn't promise to tackle dandruff. it doesn't state it'll help frizzy hair. Hell this is even a universal product suitable for men, women, children and any hair type. This to me says it all and tells me quite plainly what to expect and that's... not alot really.

I've washed my hair with this once. I've washed, rinsed and repeated and basically apart from product usage and time taken the results are the same so if you want to use it I say wash and rinse and do go. That method disturbs me though having never washed my hair once and always using a conditioner I have to wash twice to feel clean even with this shampoo.

So the liquid itself is a light green, creamy colour. It has body to it but is still runny but having said that it doesn't pour out of the bottle and through your fingers or anything like that. In your hands it has a slight greasy feel to it and the smell is rather pleasant. I cant put my finger on what it smells of actually and I now have plumped for describing it as floral, fruity and with some sweet tones to it. It is fresh, clean, not too strong and unisex (in my view).

About the size of a 10p is more than enough for my shoulder length hair and I splat it on my wet hair and rub gently. It lathers up very quickly, gives me lots of white, thickish bubbles and the aroma is released to the max and still manages to not smell cheap and then I rinse it off.

Rinsing this out is a nightmare for me! First with a shower head it runs out ok and then you touch hair and even when you've been rinsing for a few minutes I part my hair with my fingers and I can hear a soap, crunchy noise. Hair feels ever so dry to the touch and my hair is clumped up and straggly and feels dead as a dodo! It feels in a bad way and this probably isn't helped by a second wash but I certainly don't think it hurts any and I repeat the process over again but I find all I need to wash and achieve a good lather now is about the size of a 5p because what I have used previously seems to come back into action. I then stand there under the shower for a few minutes for the final rinse and this takes me ages.

When I dry my hair with a towel gently my hair still feels full of product although it doesn't sound that way anymore. Getting a comb/brush through it is a nightmare and I really do struggle and end up tearing alot of hair out. Until hair is combed/brushed through it's in a terrible messy state. Even my bf at the time said what the hell has happened to you when he first saw my hair. Hair is knotty, dry, the split ends and broken hairs all stick up and frizz is everywhere and the whole thing first time it happened really upset me cos I felt like I'd really upset my hair and didn't know how to put it right and it was all made worse by being away from home.

Once combed/brushed through it really isn't so bad. My hair still felt a sort of soapy clammy feeling and a bit weighed down and like I'd forgotten to use a conditioner but I could live with it. Now as I mentioned earlier this product is meant to be wash and go so I guess a woman using this would wash rinse and blow dry at the least. No chance. Hair is flyway, dry and covered in frizz and damn well embarrassing to be seen sporting. This is something for me I could never do!

This is where the concept falls flat. I've washed and go'ed probably a bit quicker than normal though my hair doesn't feel clean just a bit rank and dry. It smells fresh and I do rather like the smell though I wouldn't rave about it but my main moan is I am not ready to go after washing with this and I feel this is just false advertising really. This statement may be true for men and women with short hair and who need minimal styling. Could be fine for kids for a freshen up etc. On hair like mine which needs to be styled to be presentable this just makes it so much harder work in the long run after using this not only does it take me longer to style my hair I need more products so this isn't time saving or all that economical for me on any level!

Luckily on the first occasion I used this I did have some leave in conditioner on me and a full set of Lee Stafford Mini products in my Soap and Glory overnight bag! I so needed lots of spray in conditioner, a little serum spray, straightening spray, shine spray and my ghds after drying you don't know!. Ever since then if I have used this (just to finish the bottle instead of wasting it) I've needed to use similar items to tame, nourish and make my hair feel like hair again. However the work that goes into making this look ok just feels so unnecessary and just because it can look good when rectified doesn't mean that it feels the same way as it looks and bear in mind I'm using rather expensive hair care products to make it look this way.

Overall....

Not keen on it. I'd use it say in hospital or at any time I don't need to style my hair and it's all about staying fresh but for long term use or and/ on long hair that has complaints and/or needs styling this is a big no no. Totally not recommended on dry hair or hair that needs a good haircut as it really does like to display all your defects. Me, I wasn't happy with the overall feel of my hair and worry that over a long term usage my hair wouldn't be as clean as it is now and I'd get product build up etc. I'm a firm believer in the right product for the right job and not cutting corners and this product helps to prove my point. I didn't save time, money or effort in the long run and did gain a sore head from feeling stressed out (first time I used it) and gained scruffy horrible feeling, dried out and brittle hair that lost all my gorgeous shine I'm so very proud of.

Not recommended by me I can't see the point in using it!
Mine came from Morrison's at £1.39 a bottle.

Summary: Not for me but ok for short styles I would think!
