Advantages: Leaves your hair looking and feeling great
Disadvantages: None
Being a man... Conditioner ain't for me, nor is make up, scent, skin conditioner, or any other of the thousand and one body and hair care products that women seem to have a grim fascination for, although just like when you spend time in a dentist's waiting room and happen across a woman's magazine and just find yourself helplessly and innocently thumbing through it, you can't spend any time on an opinion site like Ciao or Dooyoo without stumbling across the thousands of beauty products that our female brethren (sisdren?) spend so much time recommending and/or slagging off. Mrs D always takes a healthy degree of rise out of me for my 'epitome of life itself' approach to bodily cleansing (you know what I mean girls if you've ever lived with one of the superior sex), but I believe that it's a very godly and natural approach to stink to high heaven at the end of a hard day sitting in an office rolling up bits of blutak. Anyway, in the spirit of showing that old dave27 is in fact NEW MAN PERSONIFIED, I thought I'd embark upon a review of BATHROOM ITEMS and as a kick off I'm off on an in depth analysis of the qualities of ye olde Wash & Go Shampoo and Conditioner line... The dave27 household have been converts to the W&G line up for some time now and although it feels like admitting to a girlie side I actually really like the way that it leaves your hair feeling after you've washed it. I'd never dream (as I've already hinted I guess) at using conditioner on my hair, but the fact that you get both with W&G means you don't need to admit that you're on the turn and can innocently profess complete ignorance (a man, ignorant? surely not...). PLUS there's a little label on the front that pronounces W&G as being an OFFICIAL PARTNER of the FA Premiership (whatever that means - presumably they both strive to rid themselves of the unwelcome soliciting of David Ginola, the
girliest footie player in Blighty - never did trust the Frogs - Old Fat Boy David reminds me too much of Sacha Distel to be ranked as anything other than a pretty boy, waste of space on le left wing. Uh oh, where was I? I got quite distracted there mes amies - it must be the heady scent of W&G dulling my senses... The W&G line comes from the Procter & Gamble stable and is a UK brand of shampoo that is sloganised as '2 in 1', i.e. shampoo and conditioner. It comes with a witty instruction booklet - 'Just massage into wet hair, lather and rinse' - go on, I thought you cleaned your boots with it - very similar to those other ads, like the ones for cashew nuts that read 'May contain nuts'... Reading the list of ingredients is a bit worrying because it's all really weird and obscure stuff like Ammonium Laureth Sulfate and Ammonium Xylensulfonate and ... what's this? Sodium chloride, isn't that salt? Bloody hell. Anyway, forget the chemist's book of knowledge - all I know is that W&G 2 in 1 is pretty marvellous, smelling lovely, leaving your hair clean and silky and normally making sure you don't suffer (too badly) from dandruff as long as you rinse it all off properly. I use this stuff every day on my hair and I've never had any ill effects or bad experiences (apart from that time one of the dave27-ettes had used up the last of the stuff in the bottle and had filled it with water. By the time I poured it on my hair it was ice cold and gave me a very nasty shock, I can tell you). It's attractively and functionally packaged with a nice flip off lid and quite a stable shape. I like this stuff, but I won't admit to using conditioner - REAL MEN don't you see...

- 11/07/01 That was a very funny opinion, Dave. We have a big bottle of this stuff at home for the men of the house. I, on the other hand, have at least 6 different bottles of shampoo and (separate) conditioner on the go ...! |
