Lasting hold and strong control of your hair

      Introduction

One of the drawbacks of my job is that my hair has to be kept quite short on the top. This was fine as a 19 year old with a full mop, but as i approach my mid thirties the hair I have left has decided to recede at the sides quicker than the destruction of the Amazon rainforest, and it has to be carefuly managed to make sure that the two balding patches above each temple are masked like a David Blane illusion. I fear my hair line is like the tide at Southport - it's started to ebb out and doesn't look like returning any time soon.

To help in the creation of the magical "make my hair look like its not receding" trick, I use Shockwaves shaping wax to keep my hair where I want it to be (mainly hiding those two bald patches!).

The Product - what it does

The shaping wax allows my hair to be held in the position I put it in, and will stay there until either it is re-styled or washed out. It doesn't dry solid like some hair products would.

      What's it like to use?

For regular users, you will be able to judge how much you need to apply, depending on how much hair you have and how much hold you want the product to have. I found at first that it was too easy to use too much. I scrape my finger tips into the wax from the pot then rub that wax into my palms. My palms are then ran through my hair to apply the wax then I make finer adjustments with my finger tips.

I'll be honest, it does 'stick' a bit when running it through my hair - I find that making sure its been well warmed up on my palms first reduces the drag effect when I come to run it through my hair.

The colour of the wax when in the pot is a very light, milky orange shade but this colour is not visible when applied to your hair. Also, it has a very pleasant sweet peach smell which makes me feel like I've been pampered a bit after using it. There you go, say hello to my feminine side!

      Opinion

A 75 ml pot lasts me a good year, and that's with using it 3 or 4 times a week. I find that if I put it on straight after a shower in the morning of a big day out like an all day wedding, thath it will still be largely doing its job the next morning if the previous day and night's drinking hasn't permitted me the time to wash it out prior to going to bed. I find that once its on, it stays on and stays malleable enough to allow for quick style changes if desired.

I'm very impressed with this product, for me it's a big advance from my wet look gel wearing days as a teenager where injuries to head patting soft palms where common on the hedgehog style steel hard spikes that wet look gel creates. It also washes out very easily, without leaving a trace of greasiness.

I'd recommend this product to anyone who uses shaping wax but isn't 100 percent happy with their current brand. It gets the full five stars from me.
