“ Brand: Wella / Type: Styling Hair Spray / Subcategory: Styling Sprays / What it does: volumizeses, brightens, „
Ive alawys had longish hair and about a year ago had it cut quite short which ment my hair took a liitle bit more styling. I've only got really fine hair and so needed something that would give me a little bit more volume with my style. I thorght by getting a well known brand would be better as I had never realy used many products on my hair in the past as I didnt take much looking after however I found that this product made my hair really sticky and appeared a little bit mattered in areas where i was trying to spike it a little bit. I no I'm not a professional hair dresser but it looked clumpy and all stuch together. After a few time using this product my hair also start to feel dry even after using a good conditioner. The price is quite high as well and I think you can get better priced sprays which do a better job even though you can sometime drop on special offers.
I have a fringe which tends to need a lot of product for styling and kept in a certain way throughout the day. This means that I am always on the lookout for hairspray which can maintain my look throughout the day, and this hairspray does it perfectly!
This hairspray doesn't create volume in my hair as it claims it will, however it will maintain volume if you use other products before you spray this on.
It doesn't make my hair greasy or weigh it down, and it keeps my hair looking how I want it for pretty much the whole day. Most of the time it lasts until I brush it out, the only times which it hasn't is when its really windy outside. This is my favourite hairspray for when I go out at night and need to make sure my hair doesn't come undone!
This product lets my hair move but at the same time keeps it looking good, I love it!
Recently I got my very thin and fine hair cut much shorter, as it was starting to look like rats tails, as my mum would call my hair when it gets beyond a certain length and really doesn't sit very well. The downside was that it was much shorter than I had anticipated and I now have a style that actually requires more work in the mornings than my longer hair. It also requires a lot of hairspray if it is to resemble any kind of style that I don't mind going out in.
I admit that I do like the L'oreal elvive hairspray, but seeing how much I am using at the moment, this would cost me a small fortune, and so I have tended recently to try some different brands and lasting hold hairspray which have all been cheaper than the l'oreal version.
One such hairspray I bought recently whilst in Tesoc actually was this Wella Shockwaves Volume Long Lasting Hairspray, which I wrongly picked thinking it was on offer, when it fact it wasn't. I think this week however that it is on offer in Tesco as part of a 2 for £3 deal, given that they are currently retailing it at £2 for a 250ml aerosol spray can.
I have to say that Wella shockwaves products are not the brands that I would usually go for, and so using this brand was a fairly new experience. THe hairspray comes in a bright red canister, which is hard to miss on the shelf. On the bottom front of the can Wella gives it a 5 rating in terms of lasting hold. It states that it is a 'volume' hairspray which offers long lasting finishin hold and volume.
On the reverse of the can, it states that this hairspray will 'create and maintain' volume, as well as being 'lightweight' and leaving a finishing 'shine'. It also claims not to leave your hair feelig sticky or greasy, offering UV protection and is easily brushed out.
Now, I have been using this hairspray for about two weeks now. Firstly, I cannot say that I notice any difference in terms of volume in my hair. Any volume has been entirely down to both the shampoo and my blow drying. So, I cannot support the claim that this product offers volume, as it just hasn't donw so for me, and with such fine hair, any additonal volume would always be noticed by myself.
In regards to not being greasy or sticky, well I can say that I do not find the product leaves me hair greasy, and nor does it leave it dried out either. However, I do find that after appling the product there is a stickiness on my hands, although I have experienced worse with other hairsprays in the past.
In terms of its biggest claim of being long lasting - well the product does not last all day. If I have taken the time to dry my hair well that morning and I am generally having a good hair day, then my hair seems to stay in shape better, however there are days when after a couple of hours some of my hair looks as if there was never any hairspray applied to it at al, and does not stay in the style I fixed it in. I suppose conditions such as a windy or wet day do not help matters, but I have been disappointed that a lot of the big claims that this product states to have don't really hold up in reality, well for me anyhow. Yes, the hairspray does last longer than some other hairsprays I have had in the past, but to call it 'long lasting' would be a bit of an exaggeration. Disappointing.
