Advantages: A hairspray with lasting hold

Disadvantages: none

Silvikrin hairspray was voted the best value hairspray in the 2008 Prima magazine beauty awards and to add to that it was used by the hairdressing team of the big stage musical `Hairspray`.
Silvikrin is produced by Wella who have have always been a leading name in hair products and they have quite an extensive range too, a Shiny Hold Spray, a Hydrostyle Spray, a Sensitive Spray and a Curls and waves spray.

Like most women I blow dry my own hair, it doesn't take too long but I do like it to stay in place once I have done it.
If I use Styling Mousse it helps but my hair gets all `glued up`.
So I reserve styling mousse for occasional use.
For a long time hair with any volume has been considered out of fashion, the long straight sleek look that blows free in the wind was the up to the minute look.
If you are a fashion conscious young woman that's the way to go, but I am pleased to see the tide has turned and that adding some volume to your hair is now back in again.
Remember those hairstyles of the 80`s? WOW That was volume!

Once I have dried my hair using the hairdryer and the roll brush I often heat my curling brush up to finish it off properly, there are always a few sections that haven't quite curled as I would like.
Once I have my hair in the style that I want I give it a good spray, I have to admit i`m a bit of a manic sprayer!
Silvikrin always stands out well on the supermarket shelves, the deep green and gold aerosol can stands out in the line up.
It isn't the cheapest of the bunch by any means, there are a lot of money saving options to choose from.
As the purse strings tightened I tried using an own brand hairspray but it was dire, for a start you have to hide the can away in your drawer because it has been designed to advertise the supermarket. Silvikrin have made a real effort to make their aerosol can pleasing to look at as well as use.
Spraying Silvikrin is a pleasure, the spray is pleasantly perfumed and as you depress the nozzle a fine dry spray coats and holds your hair in place. You need to leave a few inches between the spray can and your hair to get the most from the spray.
The cheaper sprays shoot from the nozzle like a wet jet spray, practically no fragrance just wet hair that dries looking like it has been `glued` together!
Silvikrin`s fine mist spray leaves your hair looking just as it was, no `wet look` or `glued together` look either.

Another good test for any hairspray is the way in which it brushes out from your hair, Silvikrin can be brushed right out, it leaves no residue or stickiness, the hair is back to normal.
Just compare this to a supermarket own brand spray and you will immediately notice the difference, I ended up with a flaky scalp and a greasy looking mop!

The Silvikrin 24 hour range caters for all hair types, a maximum hold, a firm hold, a natural hold, a flexible hold, a conditioned hold and a specially formulated spray to care for and protect coloured hair.
Wellas Silvikrin Hairspray is around £1.89 for a 250ml can and is avalable from leading chemists and supermarkets.

Summary: A lasting hold hairspray that is gentle and kind to your hair.
