Advantages: Gives hold, if you don't mind glue, Good for trapping spiders in bath, it's what I sue my defunct can for these days!
Disadvantages: Sticky, impossible to brush out, smells pretty awful and spray is not fine enough
For a hairspray, this stuff is truly awful (in my humble opinion of course! And i have tried a few different brands in my search for blonde perfection (?!), and a natural urge to be given flowers by strange men! It promises to give you good hold, and yes it does that, by turning your hair into a lump of matted glue! I tried Silvikrin's Maximum Hold hairspray because I was looking for a good quality hairspray to give my fine and flimsy hair some hold, without making it look stiff or losing any of its softness. I was very disappointed, although the product brand name is synonymous with good quality, as promised in the adverts on TV. The spray itself isn’t the finest and can saturate your hair quite quickly making it wet. When it dries on your hair, it becomes stiff and unyielding and getting a comb or hairbrush through it is nigh on impossible! Wave goodbye to any natural shine or softness and be prepared to settle for the ‘Bostick’ look! If you want maximum hold on your hair, then you will certainly get that. If you love for your man to run his fingers through your hair, expect him to lose at least a fingernail or two when he tries to reclaim it. Don’t be surprised if when he does actually manage to get his hand back, half your hair is stuck to it! Try to comb your hair after using this product and expect your comb to be covered in a sticky residue – expect the same after you’ve been using your telephone, the receiver will be covered in a sticky residue after being pressed to your ear! The product also flakes; leaving white gloopy bits in your hair that are even visible after you’ve washed it! You’ll be constantly dragging a comb through it trying to remove them, complete nightmare if your hair is dark, still pretty annoying if you’re fair-haired like me. All in all, i feel there are better products out there, and in my opinion, Silvikrin's spray is one of the more
disappointing hair control solutions. L'Oreal Elsnette (to name but one) does it so much better, and with Silvikrin's history and massive advertising of the Sixties (yes, children, I know someone who saw the ads. Ahem) I was expecting a more defined product. Alas, Silvikrin, not for me...

- 29/07/01 i used to use a similar product when i had several 'alternative' hair styles.
it was called 'rockhard gel spray'
it did pretty much zackly the same thing.
but it was ever so highly acclaimed for the same reasons you state against this product.
'punks/g oths' are very strange people.
as for today....
i got no chance......
all that shite 'killed' my hair.
if you look after your hair properly it will reward you well.
if you don't it will depart or 'split' with a vengance.
nice op hun. |
