Advantages: HOLDS HAIR IN PLACE, NO STICK RESIDUE

Disadvantages: NONE!

Sorry for the title but I couldn't resist!

Over the years I have tried and tested many different ranges of hair sprays, some good, some bad and some really bad, but time and time again I seem to keep coming back to my good old faithful Silvikrin Hair Spray.

So what keeps bringing me back to Silvikrin I hear you say?

Well unlike some it does what it says on the can and hold’s your hair in place pretty well without making your hair rigid like cardboard (I’ve had a few like that I can tell you), it doesn’t leave a sticky residue (no sniggering please), and it certainly doesn’t leave your hair looking greasy and wet (I’ve also had a few like that). It also brushes out quite easily although like many hairsprays it does leave a certain film over your hair but not as bad as some I have tried in the past.

How does is compare to Silvikrin (regular) Firm Hold Hairspray?

It’s much better, it gives a flexible feel and a healthy natural look whereas the regular range does leave your hair feeling quite rigid and a bit too shiny if you know what I mean.

Do you need to apply lots?

No, in fact it’s not advisable to apply too much otherwise you will overdo it and your hair will go like cardboard lol, hold around 9-12 inches (20-30cms) from hair and spray and please be careful to avoid the eyes, if you get any in eye area please rinse with water immediately.

What about the smell?

Well yes it could smell better, it is very strong on application but dies down very quickly, but put too much on, be warned you could well choke yourself and those surrounding you lol, so be very careful where you apply.

How long does it last?

I can apply in the morning around 7.30am before I leave for work and by the time I return home from work at around 6pm my hair is usually still in place (I normally pin my hair up when working).

It Must Be Expensive I Hear You Cry:

No in fact I have found the price to be very competitive, a 250ml aerosol can would normally cost you around £1.69 at Boots and from time to time they offer BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free) on this product. There are various other sized cans available for example 300ml which will cost you around £1.99 or 450ml which will cost you around £2.69.

What About Packaging?

Very distinctive dark green at bottom blending to a silvery green toward the top of the pressurised container, height for 250ml can is around 12 inches with a green plastic pressurised spray lid with the very distinctive Wella Silvikrin Logo on the front of can with yellow print. They are CFC Free and are also recylclable. It’s advisable to protect from sunlight, also it’s not a good idea to expose to temperatures exceeding 50 deg C.
