Advantages: its red!
Disadvantages: strong colour
I tried Wella Viva colour after reading an opinion on Dooyoo. Oh dear! My hair is naturally mid brown with a touch of red in it so I thought that Wella Red would be a good choice. I was feeling adventurous. I lathered the stuff on after taking all the recommended precuations and performing skin tests, etc. As I applied the colour I could see my hair colour changing. It looked more like orange to me underneath the red colorant cream. I didn't panic though as I know that hair colourants can often look odd and usually bear no resemblance to the finished colour. I applied the 'colour enhancer' cream to finish the job. It still didn't look quite as I had imagined it would be! After I had washed my hair through and rinsed out all the dye I had to start scrubbing at my hands, neck and ears to get the 'tomato' stains off. I did wear plastic gloves but these had somehow leaked and the colour was seeping up my arm. Then came the biggest shock of the evening. I looked in the mirror, screwed up my eyes in disbelief and looked again. Yes, that was me! My hair was the brightest carrot colour I have ever seen. I looked just like a little red devil. I washed my hair with lots of shampoo twice more that evening and I've washed it everyday since. This all happened two weeks ago so by my wreckoning I should only have another week of 'ginger' hair. (It is supposed to last for twenty washes but with my luck it will probably be longer.) I will be so pleased to be able to go out without a hat on!

- 11/04/01 oh dear. Your hair sounds just like what my sisters hair was like. My four year old son nicknamed her Duracel. |
